the best vegan enchiladas ever

I love this restaurant. It has it's history with a world famous ultramarathon runner. the indoors is lovely. there's a community table as well as seating for two and bar table seating by the windows and outdoor seating. the food is incredible. the price is right for the area. during the lunch hours people look like they enjoy being there. they even offer takeout options that are premade like they have in the Starbucks refrigerated section.

Nice and Friendly

Had lunch yesterday with 9 colleagues who are not even vegetarian. Everyone had good food and good time. I had the enchiladas, were OK. Next time I will get a burger, due to rave reviews of colleagues. The Shiva bowl also got great reviews! I will definitely be back.

Pros: Friendly service, Good food

Delicious and huge menu!

This place has a huge selection of delicious vegan food. I had the veggie enchiladas and my mom had the Americana burger. The food is very good and the desserts are amazing! They have lots of cookies and chocolate things. Also has a very modern clean interior. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Pros: food, service

This is our Go-to place to eat out.

The meals are well balanced so you don't have to worry about leaving satiated. It's 100% vegan, and it's big on presentation. The dishes are as beautiful to behold as they are delicious. We always leave happy and content. Love the food, the service, prices and the convenience.

Favorite Restaurant

This place is a triple threat, being organic, vegan, and gluten free! I've never been disappointed by my food there and the staff is always super friendly. If your in the area, I highly recommend checking this place out. My favorites are Julie's Delight smoothie and the Bob Marley salad :)

nice find

We went yesterday but didn't know it had been there for a whole year. We will be re visiting again I'm sure. Nice ambiance but the young women at the counter were a bit unfriendly when we asked about the food prep and peanut allergies. one repeated several times the food my husband ordered did not have peanuts, when we were asking about prep and to tell the chef not to cross contaminate. She ended by showing us the bottom of the menu which says they are not responsible....blah blah. Joi brought our order to us and totally made up for her staff. I had the " tuna ". The sandwich was tasty but the salad on the side had wilted lettuce in it. My husband had the greek bowl and enjoyed it very much. When we left Joi told us about special chef night once a month Tuesdays. Most important the food is good, priced well, and my husband didn't get sick from peanuts.

Pros: mostly vegan organic, clean, new, bright atmoshere, good food at a good price

Cons: some of the staff attitude, some food not fresh

Impressed

We stopped by here on our trip up to the central coast. I liked the atmosphere as well as the food. I had the SouthSider burger. It came with a side salad that had really good sauce, and the burger was really tasty too. I would totally go again if I'm ever in the area.

Pros: Good vegan atmosphere, Good food, Outside patio

Delicious and healthy

The Bob Marley zucchini "pasta" with pesto was perfect, if you are looking for a tasty but light dish. The staff is very friendly and the place is clean. Perfect place for a lunch. I would visit again!

Pros: The Bob Marley , Healthy but tasty

enJOied it :)

The food was very good. My husband especially loved his enchilada. The staff was warm and friendly. They have outdoor seating which was a big draw as we were on our way back from the beach with our two dogs. The wonderful woman delivering the food even brought our pups a bowl of water :)

Will definitely go back soon.

Promising

Had breakfast here and the chia pancakes were delicious while the "Savory breakfast bowl" with scrambled tofu didn't taste much at all. Very fresh and well prepared in every other aspect, but it needed a lot of salt (and I usually don't use a lot of salt)
Got a very good impression though and will go there again if I get the chance. So brilliant that all is gluten free!

Pros: gluten free, fresh, pancakes

Cons: "savory" scrambled tofu

What a Joi !

My wife and I were visiting from San Diego and made a special effort to dine at this new eatery affiliated with Rich Roll, the famous vegan ultra athlete. I've read Rich’s book, seen him speak, and met him on a fantastic vegan cruise (for 1500 plant-based enthusiasts!) out of Miami last March. However, while waiting for our order to be served, I was browsing over the paper menu and was dismayed to see “bee pollen” as a smoothie superboost option. Of course, bees are animals, so their products, by definition, are not vegan. Although this put a damper on my enthusiasm, “The SouthSider” was delicious, and my wife judged the “Fun Tuna” the best mock tuna ever. That evening, I emailed the cafe expressing my concerns. To my surprise and delight, I received an almost immediate reply from owner/founder Nicholas Johanson stating unequivocally that bee pollen had been removed from the cafe entirely and that he, like me, believed in a 100% plant-based diet and lifestyle. He acknowledged that they had yet to update their paper menus and menu board. I urged him to cross out or paint over the words and update the website menu immediately to avoid future misunderstandings. And I urge everyone to visit and support this bright, vibrant 100% vegan establishment!

Great Food, Customer Service & Communication too!

Joi Café had recently had their grand opening when I approached them with a big order request. I wanted a variety of Joi’s beautiful delicious vegan baked goods for a party I was hosting. I don’t do dessert, but if I want to bring treats I want to know I’m bringing in fabulous compassionate choices. In addition to the large order, I needed to pick them up on a Monday (the day the café is closed). Nicholas and I worked it out and it was a complete amazing win.
I ordered the colorful variety the week before (scones for adults, mini cupcakes for kids, chocolate and chai cookies for all, fruit tarts for adults and more). The plan was for me to text Nick before the pick up. Shawn would be there for me to receive the goods. I texted, Nick answered, I went by and NICK WAS THERE ON HIS DAY OFF to help me get the goodies. We packed up my truck and off I went. The party was a complete success and my guests (foodies and accomplished entertainers themselves) all loved the all the pretty cookies and cakes. I bought the scones for the adults and the kids loved the scones too. A huge thank you to Nicholas, Joi and the team. It’s one thing to have great food, it’s another thing to have great customer service, but to also be able to communicate and create solutions is above and beyond. Thank YOU JOI CAFÉ!

Pros: Exellent food

Scrumptious Taste & Visually Tantalizingly

I went with a friend for lunch today. The place was very busy, and after tasting the food and the attentive service, I understand why.

Has a clean, crisp, modern decor with unique counter seating with bar stools for about 20 people, plus has several tables and chairs and outdoor seating. They are willing, able and ready for customers!!

I had The JOi Enchiladas for $13.95: Filled with sweet potatoes, fresh peppers, spinach, corn, black beans, coconut, cinnamon and cilantro topped with homemade enchilada sauce and fresh California avocado. Seriously creative, unique and scrumptiously and tantalizingly beautiful to the eye and to the palate.

My friend had the Mushroom Bahn Mi for $9.95: Grilled portabella mushrooms, house-pickled Asian vegetables, shaved jalapeno (if you shave it wrong OUCH), cilantro, mint, basil and vegenaise. Served on a toasted roll. He loved it!!

If you are anywhere within 100 miles of this place, do not hesitate, do not pass GO... go directly there - you and your tummy will thank you!!

Pros: Ample parking, Delish food, Exceedingly clean

Cons: None whatsoever

Tasty Food & Hip Atmosphere

So stoked to have another Vegan restaurant in Ventura County! Very clean, bright and inviting atmosphere. The owners have obviously put time and effort into the small details, which make everything come together nicely in a hip and casual cafe. My wife and I had lunch on the 2nd day after the grand opening. Food came out fast and fresh. We were both very impressed with our food. Had the hummus for an appetizer, The Sopas dish and the Bob Marley zucchini pasta. So so goood! We'll definitely be back here often.
