Garden of the senses

What a wonderful place indeed. Beautiful inside with a plush conservatory area and garden which is delightful at night. The daytime buffet here is excellent value here at €9.90 (as of September 2015) and of excellent quality with huge vegan choice. It's worth asking which items aren't vegan as they outway the non-vegan items. I would guess the buffet is generally the same every day with a few changes thrown in for variety. My only issue is that I always eat too much, so I can't really complain. The buffet consists of things such as lasagne, tofu casserole, vegetable rice, veggie soya mince, sweetcorn balls and a delicious creamy aubergine casserole. There are also noodles, fried potatoes with seitan, various vegetables, dips and salads. At night the theme is tranquil pseudo-gourmet dining. We had the most amazing seitan and tofu grilled skewers and seitan stroganoff imaginable. Seriously impressive and vegan. Other equally outstanding dishes are available. At €9 for a bottle of excellent house wine you would be crazy to miss out. This is a beautiful place my friends, a truly lovely vegetarian establishment.

Pros: food, price, amazing food combinations

Lunch buffet was a vegan heaven

I visited this place for a lunch, and I found the variety overwhelmingly good. You have everything from salad ingredients to different warm plates that are so good you wish you'd never get full but just keep trying different things. You'll leave content and not even much poorer, since the place is not very pricey.

Pros: Doesn't leave you hungry, Makes you happy

good vibes

Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, beautiful wine, average food. The experience was highly enjoyable although the food was a little stuck in veggie timewarp (think lentils, bean chilli, lasagne etc).

Amongst all the dishes our group tried I thought the tofu & leek terrine with nori seaweed wrap was by far the most interesting dish and very tasty!

Definitely worth a visit, but remember they are closed on Saturday lunchtime & all day Sunday.

Nice food, a bit expensive for what it is

This place is kind of on the fancy side, the food is good, but not great and it's comparatively expensive. The lentil koftas are worth it though.

Lunch Buffet

Me and my friends had lunch here last summer in the outdoors space, which has a very pleasant atmosphere. The buffet was good, with various options but would not recommend for people who don't like vegan/vegetarian dishes! For those who enjoy this type of cuisine this place has very different options!

Cons: the price is a little high

Beautiful Garden and Tasty Buffet!

This restaurant is one of my favourites in Lisbon!

I've only been there at lunch time, which means I have only tried the buffet ( during the week). I've heard/ read that at dinner time things are not that good, or at least, people aren't lucky with the meals they choose from the menu and it is more expensive.

I can say that the buffet is amazing and I've loved it every time I went there. It has several vegan options, warm ( if you go early) and really tasty dishes, as well as amazing salads.

At lunch time it is also cheaper, so if you are looking for a calm, cozy and peaceful place to experiment vegetarian/ vegans meals, you won't be disappointed!

Pros: Excellent Food, Nice vibe, Inexpensive ( lunch)

Cons: Expensive at dinner time, No buffet at the weekend

Warm and cozy atmosphere

Me and my wife had lunch at Jardim dos Sentidos, meaning that we only experienced the buffet.

It was already a bit late (almost 15:00) when we arrived, so the food available on the buffet was not the freshest but it was quite acceptable.

I enjoyed the variety of somewhat more exotic food when compared to other similar buffets. There were plenty vegan options and of those, everything was quite tasty - especially the delicious papadums that we couldn't get enough.

I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by the warm and cozy atmosphere of the restaurant, with subdued lighting and some tables placed in nooks of the restaurant walls. There is an outside garden but it was too cold outside and besides it is allowed to smoke there, so we just stayed inside.

Like other reviewers said, I thought the food was pretty decent although not excellent. However, I must also say that I find it ever more difficult to be amazed by the food at any buffet unless I arrive very early to grab food coming right out of the kitchen.

Pros: Warm and relaxing atmosphere, Somewhat exhotic dishes

Cons: Good food but not really excellent, Garden is a smoker's area

Fancy veggie food

This restaurant was a bit fancier then we're used to. Expect excellent service and delicious food. They have very nice fresh vegetable and fruit juices and a lot of different options for starters and mains. A good choice for a formal dinner or special occasion!

Pros: You can bring your parents, Excellent service, Lots of choices

Adoro!

Ambiente muito agradável, principalmente na zona do jardim. Comida deliciosa, sendo que muitos dos pratos vegetarianos podem ser convertidos em veganos. Recomendo :)

Great service, value for money

We had the buffet and the food was tasty, although I found a lot of it to be much too oily and salty. There was also a very limited amount of salad options. The staff were friendly and attentive, the courtyard was beautifully decorated, nice background music... All round enjoyable experience (especially for 8.90€)

Pros: Service, Seating area

Cons: Too salty/oily , Limited salad options

Great buffet with lots of vegan options

We were there for lunch. The staff was helpful in letting us know what is suitable for vegans. There were only two dishes vegetarian and plenty of vegan dishes. The restaurant has a nice terrace/garden and a great ambiente. Defenitely worth a visit.

Excellent Lunchtime Buffet

We ate here twice during our stay in Lisbon and really enjoyed both visits. The restaurant consists of indoor and outdoor tables, with buffet food set out indoors (there is an a la carte menu for the evenings.) The lunchtime buffet costs around 8 euros, or 10 with a homemade fruit juice (the fruit juice option is well worth it and tasted excellent both times.)

When we arrived we asked the staff which dishes were vegan, and they took us through these both times having asked the chef. Given that they write notes beside each dish to explain what it is I'm not sure why they don't also write whether they are vegan on these to save themselves time, but in any case each time there were only 1 or 2 non-vegan dishes (out of around 12) so there was plenty of choice. This included Tofu croquettes, a seitan stew, vegetable stuffed tacos, noodles, rice, salad etc - more than enough to cram a plate full of different foods.

The service wasn't outstanding - not unfriendly but not exactly engaging, but otherwise we enjoyed our visit enough to come back a second time and will do so again when we are back in Lisbon.

Amazing veggie restaurant

"Jardim dos sentidos" is all one can expect from a veggie place:

- Great atmosphere: it's a wide space, with both indoor/outdoor seating, and woody nice decoration. It's good for big parties as well as more intimate meals.

- All you can eat buffet is usually an option associated with low quality food; on the contrary, here each single dish is carefully prepared, never too greasy or too bland. And the variety of food is amazing: a large choice of vegetables-based dishes, cereals, as well as tofu and seitan specials.

- The price, at least for the lunch buffet, is an incredible deal: 8,90€ including soup, salads & homemade tea.

- The location, in a quiet street right next to the Jardim Botanico and very close to Avenida, is pretty convenient.

- Juices are about 2,30€ (1,7€ if included in the buffet menu), and expresso coffee at 0,8€.

I have only been there at lunch, so I guess it's more expensive at dinner time without the buffet.

Wonderful food, great variety

We were not able to try the buffet, but made it for dinner and everything was incredible. The menu clearly labeled which items were vegan (luckily they had an English menu as were not quite able to navigate the portugese one). There were severak vegan options for every course (including dessert). The marinades on the seitan steak and kabobs were great and very flavorful. Both dishes we ordered also camed with steamed vegetables so we were able to enjoy some oil-free bites as well :). The highlight of our meal was the free appetizer which included a tofu based pesto. We ordered a spring roll appetizer which we also greatly enjoyed. After many mall veggie friendly restaurants it was a treat to see such a spacious vegetarian restaurant - a must visit if you are in Lisbon!

Pros: items clearly labeled as vegan, English menu, wonderful food

Lovely Place!

Plenty of vegan options clearly listed on the dinner menu. My husband and I both had salads and they were large, delicately seasoned, delicious and very filling. Some heartier dishes of seitan and tofu are also available that looked really good! Next time...

Big but cosy vegetarian restaurant

I was amazed about the size of the restaurant. Usually vegetarian restaurants seem to be a bit smaller. This place was big but still cosy as well. You could sit inside or outside. The restaurant also had a bit of a loungy atmosphere. In a way it didn't feel like a veggy restaurant but like a regular restaurant where you could eat everything for a change. After having travelled all day it was really nice to be able to relax here. The restaurant offered a wide range of menus, also with fake meat, which tasted good. Very friendly staff as well.

One Of The Best Restaurants In Lisbon

After we where a bit disappointed of the veg restarants of lisbon we found this place and had an amazing seitan in maniok batter covered with tomato sauce and mashed potatoes and a Seitan stroganoff.for desert i had a chocolate cake which was very good.they have a lot of fake meat but in a good way.its absolutely not trashy food. it was in a nice atmosphere,we sat in the garden.it could have been nicer without the plasticrooftop but its a detail.all in all- very recomendable!

If you like meat substitutes you'll like it here

Quite heavy on the 'fake meat', which my partner loves and I don't so much - so he thought this place was great and I thought it was ok. We had a very nice leisurely lunch though hiding from a downpour in their outside tent. Their chocolate tart was lovely. Buffet set up for lunch including free tea, lots of variety, plus drinks and deserts to order from the menu.

Pros: Meat subsitutes, Lots of variety, Good value

Cons: Meat substitutes!

Thoroughly lovely

This was a very nice find thanks to HappyCow. Ate a lovely lunch buffet in the shaded back yard. Food was well prepared and varied, and the desert menu held many promises.
This is a place you go back to. Just a block away is another restaurant called Bio, which was also great, just not THIS great.

Pros: Food tasty and well prepared, Modest prices, Great calm atmosphere

Cons: Slightly difficult to locate

Last night we went tot Jardim dos Sentidos. And the food was great. The desserts were briljant. My friend can only have vegetariam cheese and no eggs . And she could have all the desserts!! There are also some vegan options. So if you are a vegetarian, you must come here, if you are in Lisbon!!
