Good food, but overpriced & hard to find. - Edit
We had a hard time finding it, as it wasn’t clear that it was inside the Whole Foods and GPS was trying to take us down the street and around the corner. We ordered tacos and a chard bowl. The chard was raw, which was fine I guess, but we definitely weren’t expecting that. The tacos were great, but for the price we thought there should have been 3 of them rather than 2. Overall, it’s not a bad place to grab a quick vegan meal, but I certainly would not recommend making a special trip here.

Scrumptious Mexican cuisine - Edit
I got so excited seeing the menu, my eyes were definitely bigger than my belly. The side of Mexican street corn was my favorite, then nachos, then churros, then my drink. I got the blackberry cooler and it tasted good but was so strong with alcohol I couldn’t finish it.

Inside Whole Foods - Edit
Meh. Finding this place inside a meat market and a horrific greenwashing one owed by Amazon (destroyers not defenders of) was upsetting. Food was mediocre, boring corporate crap, assembled from factory output by under compensated not vegan wage slaves, shocker.

Better than I expected - Edit
I didn’t expect much from this little place inside Whole Foods. I tried the Dinosaur kale bowl because it had a chili pepper next to it. 🌶️ It wasn’t very spicy but better than no spice at all. The sweet potato was prepared in a way that made them really savory and the coconut chips gave it a nice crunch. The dressing was a little sweeter than I like but adding a squeeze of lime helped. Overall a pretty good bowl and I might want to try their other locations.

I wish I could eat here every day 🌱 - Edit
Authentic Mexican flavors! I tried the verde enchiladas with coco queso. My friend couldn't eat them because she thought the filling (made of hearts of palm and jackfruit) was pork. They did that great of a job replicating the texture. We also tried the shiitake gorditas which they told us are not fried. The mole and hot sauces were so good.

Lovely churros - Edit
We had churros to go and it was delicious! My only complaint is that it’s too much waste in paper boxes and plastic forks and knives (specially for eating 4 churros!) I guess this is a major issue in nyc, but they could reduce the amount of wrapping to start the change.

My whole family loved it - Edit
You can tell it's authentic Mexican food. We tried a bit of everything and really enjoyed it, even my non-vegan family. The staff was super nice and helpful and we had plenty of seating space.

Best Vegan Mexican Food in the City - Edit
This place is very conveniently located in the Whole Foods in Hudson Yards. My non-vegan friends came with me and enjoyed their dishes as well. My friend had the chorizo burrito which she enjoyed, and my other friend had the empanada and the enchilada which was really good as well. I had the taco tazon which they made gluten free for me. They did have an extensive menu, and the had some healthier options (the bowls) as well as gluten free options. I will definitely hit this place up again when I'm in the city.

Nice food, cold premises - Edit
The food was nice though needed to be hotter - I tried the enchiladas mole, the beetroot empanada and the gorditos, but the seating area was cold (cold air literally blowing down on me in the middle of winter) and the service was a bit lacklustre - all the dishes came out on cardboard and with throwaway cutlery, which you had to throwaway yourself. What Is the point of tipping here? It’s also not the easiest to find until you know it’s inside the Wholefoods store itself.

Quick bite - Edit
The kitchen here knows how to cook fast and they do it well. It’s almost as if they know what you’re planning to order before you arrive. This could be explained by the location being attached to Amazon-owned Whole Foods.

Whole Foods location of Jajaja - Edit
Stopped by this location of Jajaja after regularly visiting their full-service outposts. Interesting location in a corner of Whole Foods, flavors were great but the portions/details land this location at a 3.5/4 rather than a 5 star personally.
Read moreIt was a rainy evening when we stopped in and it seemed like there were a lot of online orders bogging down the kitchen/staff. Ordered the chilaquiles (verde with chorizo), Buffalo flower tacos, and the street corn. This is a pretty typical order for us so we knew what to expect flavor-wise. The chilaquiles tasted good, but whether they sat for awhile before we received them, or the chips weren't fresh, they weren't up to the usual standard we knew from other locations. Same for the street corn, the cobs themselves were smaller than usual but the flavor was still great. Tacos were good as well but we didn’t receive them with the guacamole we ordered, and by the time the staff was able to bring over a side of guac we only had one taco left.
Overall, not the most polished experience but still a tasty and convenient option if you find yourself at Hudson Yards/Whole Foods. However, if you’re planning on trying Jajaja for the first time I'd recommend one of their true full-service locations (our favorite is the LES/Broadway spot)
Pros: Full menu available in a quicker serve model, Street corn is possibly the best side dish in NYC
Cons: Slow service due to online orders (rainy night), Forgot some modifications/additions

Disappointed - Edit
I have happily dined at the Jajaja’s in the West Village and Lower Manhattan; but my recent experience here at the outpost in Hudson Yards (Whole Foods) was sadly disappointing. Firstly, the service was right down surly. More importantly the food was mediocre - lukewarm and somewhat tasteless. I’m striking this one off my list.

Terrible - Edit
Tried the corn, chicken tacos and gorditas. The tacos were average but the gorditas were literally just lettuce and a few tiny pieces of fried mushroom. Also the food arrived lukewarm to cold because the buzzer they gave us didn’t work.

Very fresh and good - Edit
I ordered the quesadilla because I wasn’t overly hungry. It was more than I could eat and the ingredients in the quesadilla were a fresh tasting mixture. It hit the spot.
Read moreSince it’s inside whole foods, I walked over to their deli area and got a seltzer to drink.
Lots of seating inside and out and the menu was very compelling.
Will definitely come back next time I’m in this part of town.
Pros: Great menu , tasted fresh, not heavy, location
Cons: maybe have more people at counter, line was long!
