Great vegan Vietnamese dishes - Edit
Offers a great selection of Vietnamese dishes, all vegan. Has outdoor seating next to a rather quiet street.

Unpleasant surprise - Edit
We are regular customers for quite some time and allways take our friends here. But yesterday we had the biggest shock: when we got our glasses of water the waitress told us to be careful because the glass might cut our lips because it's a bit broken, but we can still trink from it. Then the water was warm ( not luke warm) and when we told her she kept asking if we need ice. We said we would like a glass of regular cold water. THEN when I picked up the green salat on my plate I say that a big piece of glaze is broken from my plate. It was just crazy! We new that their plates/glasses are over used, but this was way too much. And for the first time my noodles did not seemed freshly cooked. Big dissapointment.

Most amazing Vietnamese food ever! - Edit
All dishes we tried in this nice, cosy, and entirely vegan space were absolutely delicious - simply outstanding! The staff was friendly and attentive while also serving the orders astonishingly quickly. As a bonus the prices are reasonable in a way that it felt like steal. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Große Auswahl, köstlich! - Edit

Tasty and filling - Edit
Enjoyed the food at hum very much. I had a Curry dish which was very filling and comforting. Shared some appetizers with a friend and we both liked the salads, different rolls and tofu. It’s also a very nice place apart from the fact that the tables were really sticky (even after they had just wiped it).

Overpriced bland vietnamese food - Edit
They charge for "rehydrated" water and refuse to serve tapwater because "it's The chefs choice". Then they charge 4 euro for it.

One of my favourite places in Prenzlauer Berg! - Edit
We tend to go there every week for a while and then take a break. And then go back to eating there way too often for a while before taking a break again. It's kind of addictive :)
Read moreI absolutely love their Pho Carry (#22) and the wan tan. I always bring a Mason jar to take some home because it's so big!
We also often order the ban xeo (crispy pancake, it's huge), the udon xao and the bun cha cuon (tofu and mushrooms wrapped in bettel leaves, scrumptious!).
Pros: Fresh food, Big portions, Good price

The worst sald in my life and mediocore soups - Edit
Totally unripe mango in the salad was not as bad as sugar liquid all over it. Soups was nothing special, just a few vegetables, good portion of tofu and A LOT of pasta in it. Price too high for sth like this. Won't recommend to a friend.

Nice place for a quick lunch/dinner - Edit
The menu is huge and it‘s hard to decide what to get. The pancake was delicious and my main (Udon noddles) was great too. The cold homemade drinks could be a bit sweeter in my opinion, but I guess many people like it like that. Service was quick, but we were served our mains before we had even finished our starters, which is a no go for me. They seemed a bit stressed too. Card payment, outdoor seating and restroom available.

Your mileage may vary - Edit
When I was looking for a place to lunch, advice from locals varied on "Hum". Yet, it looked tasty on the photos on Happy Cow and it was in the neighbourhood, so I visited Hum. The restaurant is easy to find, since it says in big letters "vegan Vietnamese" on the outside.
Read moreI visited around 2 pm and the restaurant was very quiet. Yet, the staff had very little time to assist me. No one pointed me to a seat and the barman (who was dressed like the average customer) took my order without saying a word. No chance to get any advice or explanation on the various items on the menu. The meal was prepared very quickly and a waitress brought it to me, without saying a word. A little later the barman brought me a drink, again without a word.
In order to learn about the Vietnamese cuisine I ordered a meal with a little bit of everything, called "Bun Mam". That is: the explanation in the menu made me think I got a little taste of everything. In fact I received a huge plate that would be enough for four people! While other restaurants downsize each item to make the taster still the same size as a regular meal, I got this monster meal fit for a small army!
Disregarding the size of the meal, it did indeed offer a lot of different tastes. It had four kinds of rolls, from the standard spring roll to tofu in seaweed. The quality of the ingredients was no more than average and so was the preparation. Eating out should be a treat because the food is much better than at home, but at Hum the main quality is the fact that there's so much variation on a single plate.
PS: When I was there a pigeon came into the restaurant and the staff didn't do anything, like it was normal. I hope this was a one time thing and doesn't reflect on hygiene standards.
Pros: big portions, fair price
Cons: almost no attention to customers
