Best vegan BBQ ever!!

I started following them on Instagram before I ever visited Portland, and when I finally made it I wasn't disappointed. We ordered chili cheese fries, a burger, and a rib plate with sides of mac abd cheese and beans. Everything was beyond what I expected, and I couldn't stop eating!! I never thought I'd have such satisfying BBQ again after becoming vegan, but this was better than anything I've had in my life. I seriously could rave forever, but just try for yourself.. I'd suggest getting a plate with multiple sides and proteins so you can try a variety, or just order something for each category of the menu so you can try it all! Can't wait to go back!

Pros: All vegan!!, amazing burger and fries, authentic BBQ taste

Cons: it's in Portland and I'm on Austin ;)

Awesome Hush Puppies

Great Southern menu. Lots to choose from and all Vegan! Great to be able to order anything from the large menu. Next time I’ll have to try something from their delicious looking dessert selections.

Our Fav

Have had multiple items on the menu and am never disappointed. Even the side macNocheese is a generous helping! My favorite is definitely the sweet potato fries though

absolutely incredible spot

If you are vegan or not vegan at all this place is incredible! It takes a twist on the common country low kitchen type of food and makes it all vegan. Soooo good. The portion sizes are amazing as well, definitely a must try spot for vegans!

You have to go!

If just visiting Portland, you have to plan a stop at Homegrown Smoker. The portions are large and delicious. Alongside their amazing all vegan menu, they also have beer and a pretty good dessert selection for you to choose from. We went when it was busy, so wait time was a little longer, but 100% worth it. Come hungry!

Pros: All Vegan

hearty comfort food

The menu here is pretty heavy-handed; nothing delicate or subtle so if you're looking for a refined culinary experience or a fresh vegetable-rich meal this isn't your best option. Big portions. Some of the protein choices weren't great, eg tempeh for one of the barbecue dishes just tasted like bland tempeh.

Pros: seared flavor

Cons: not enough sauce on some dishes, could use a few veggie side dishes - eg corn, smaller cheaper portions needed

Not a good first impression

I went here with high expectations. The house sauce was not a little spicy, in fact it was so hot it ruined the taste of the food. The bowl of Mac n cheese was expensive for the unimpressive taste and size of the portion. I found a lot of their menu items to be expensive compared to the portion sizes offered. Not sure if it was just a bad day or what.

Pros: lots of vegans options

Cons: Expensive, house sauce was incredibly hot, small p

My Favourite Vegan Restaurant

I came here with my non-vegan family here, and everyone left with nothing but smiles! So, so, so good! I would recommend the "Grit Sticks" !

Best vegan southern comfort food ever!

My husband and I both love this place. We live about an hour away and that does not stop us from making the trip to eat. Everything's is amazing. The people are very friendly and there is outdoor seating where you can sit with your dog. Love that it is so close to Forest Park, as we go for a hike in the morning and come here to feast after. This is a must try.

Pros: amazing food, amazing people, dog friendly outside seating

Cons: none!

Big Sammies

Visited June 2017. Enjoyed the Dagwood Sub and Philly-style cheesecake. Note that they're moving to St. John's area at the end of June and are no longer at this location.

I mean it's too perfect

Words cannot describe how incredibly delicious this BBQ is. I'm a huge fan of their Carolina Chikn Sandwich, but that's not saying much because I will devour every item on this menu.
Not to mention at the deli you can get sliced schmeats and delicious potato salad to make your lunch for the week that much better.
If I didn't live in Oregon I'd still make a special effort to go to this place often.
And to top it all of I love the people who work here and the cart, they're so damn nice!

Pros: It's perfect

Cons: Absolutely nothing

Amazing atmosphere

This was one of the best vegan restaurants that I have ever been to. The food was delicious and in large portions. Plus, it was fairly priced; only $8 for a massive Swiss melt? So fantastic. And the best of all was the staff. They were crazy friendly, and they gave great advice for buying food in bulk and for other restaurants around town. Not to mention them delving out free samples and fun stories. Overall I loved this place, and so did my six person party. I highly recommend this place for everyone who enjoys cheap food, happy staff, and fond memories.

Pros: Everything is vegan, BBQ was great, price was chea

Cons: Small space

A great first-time all-vegan restaurant experience

It was my and my sister's first time getting to eat at an all-vegan restaurant and it was amazing!
The food is so good and the service was friendly.

I would highly recommend stopping here whenever you're in the PDX area.
