Always good - Edit
I live in St Johns so I eat here a lot. I ate at the cart semi regularly prior to this location. The food has always been consistently good. I love that they switch up the specials. They have something for everyone. I even take my non veg family when they’re in town and they’re always impressed. Sometimes the wait can be a little long but that’s because your food is fresh. If you want to be in and out I recommend ordering ahead on postmates and picking it up.

Best Vegan BBQ - Edit
Their food is so good I drive 15 - 20 min out of the city once a week to eat it. The fact that they only have one location is the only negative thing I can say about this place. But if there was one in Portland proper, I’d probably break the bank eating there every day. So perhaps that’s a good thing! 😂 Cider Riot just closed down on the central east side... maybe they should fill that space.

Delicious comfort food. I got a lot of sides because I heard the mock meats were too close for comfort.

Amazingly delicious comfort food - Edit
It was a bit of trek to get here from where we were staying, but it was worth it! The food was very delicious and as a southerner, it was the perfect comfort food. I sent pictures to all of my friends and family and they couldn’t believe it was vegan! Our local friends are even going to come because we talked it up so much! Can’t recommend this place enough. Get the Mac burrito or the combo plate, and don’t miss their buff wings!

Filling & delicious but a bit saucy - Edit
Was stoked on a vegan BBQ spot. The wings were good with a nice consistency and spicy sauce. The 2 protein and 2 side plate had a true BBQ smoker vibe with slow cooked Seitan ribs and smoked chicken alongside collard greens and bbq beans. Everything was tasty and the texture was soft. The only thing we weren’t too keen on was how saucy everything was. Maybe we just aren’t into this kind of BBQ but it seemed the sauce was a bit overwhelming and kind of masked some of the bbq flavor. Would come back and try some of their non saucy items for sure.

The best of the best of vegan sandwich joints. Not subtle, just fatty comfort-food goodness.

Legit delicious BBQ - Edit
Wow.
Read moreBeen wanting to try this place forever. So happy I finally got here. Best bbq I’ve had for vegan or vegetarian.
The short ribs had a slight bark on the outside and were tender on the inside. They way the “meat” came apart almost freaked me out - seemed pretty realistic. The ribs and sauce were perfectly balanced with lots of flavor. Not too smokey, or salty, etc. The coleslaw paired well with the rich ribs. The dish came with a couple of hush puppies and remoulade - also delicious and not greasy.
I went all out and tried the chili cheese fries as well. Regular and sweet potato fries seasoned and smothered with a nice bean chili, cheese sauce, cheese shreds, and green onions (all vegan). Good but I’d stick with the bbq.
Staff were very sweet.
Highly recommend!

Only BBQ in Portland - Edit
This place is by far the best, if not only Vegan BBQ in Portland. The soy Curls definitely have a smokey flavor that you would expect from a BBQ. All The sides taste authentic and pair well with the curls. They have GF options. I love this place and drive out to it on a 25 minute journey every year on my Birthday. Thanks Home Grown Smoker for celebrating with me!

Worth It For the Gram - Edit
Alright, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this place is all hype. It’s cool that they’re all vegan, but the taste of the food is sub-par. I was expecting something awesome but my wife and I were not impressed with the taste of the food. It’s worth going if you’re into taking pictures of your food. The best item was the MacNoCheese. I thought the Chik’n wings were OK, and it was unique that they add Veggie Stalk for a “bone”.

Surprisingly delicious - Edit
I wasn’t too excited to go to the restaurant when my hubby requested vegan BBQ, but was surprised at how delicious and high quality the food was. THE HUSH PUPPIES WERE TO DIE FOR!!! And I loved the greens, cole slaw and baked beans. I was wayyy full with just a sides plate. My husband had a soy curl bbq sandwich and loved it. Was really impressed and will definitely go back!

If your belly desires meat but your heart says "no, no, no" that is the place to go for you. They serve very big portions and everything is good.
