Spectacular! - Edit
Staff was really lovely and made us very welcome and comfortable. Ordered the fully vegan and gluten free breakfast, my hubby the tofu burger. Also green smoothie and a Karma Cola. For dessert, the Ferrero pie. Everything was soooo tasty!!! Highly recommended!!! It is in a hidden spot, but so cool.

Good Food - Edit
Slightly too expensive for my taste. The food was delicious though and the portions generous. My pea and mint soup was very balanced and came with some special type of bread. The service was great, but the location and atmosphere not fantastic. I personally would not like to dine here in the evening and it is down some steps.

Delicious food bad mocha - Edit
We had the mushroom burger and the Ruben sandwich and it was honestly 10/10 sooooo tasty, however the mocha was not great and didn’t taste anything like chocolate to me. It was also a little cold in there but I guess that’s cos we went in Jan. I would definitely go back though the food was amazing.

Cute Cosy Cafe - Edit
Had the smashed avocado on really tasty homemade gluten free bread with a vibrant green smoothie and my partner had the quarter pounder burger with an energiser smoothie. The food was delicious, lady who served us was really kind and a great location and setting. Our second time visiting and will definitely come again! 🐮

Nice food, although staff seemed annoyed at us for being there and ordering food. Probably won't rush back but a decent option if you're nearby

Nice cake - Edit
We didn’t have savoury food here - just cake - but it was delicious. Quite expensive though, think it was about £15 for two slices and two soft drinks?

Way too expensive, overrated and such a weird vibe - Edit
I didn’t really like the food and the vibe was so weird. We went to have dinner and there was some kind of yoga music playing, which didn’t make sense at all. Felt like we couldn’t even talk. My burger was not worth paying £15,50 for and I could literally count the amount of fries I got. I would not eat here again.

Stopped here for lunch while In Edinburgh and the whole group said how delicious the food was here. I went for the jackfruit burger which was great! Loads of jackfruit and delicious sauce. Would definitely recommend.

Burger on pricier side - Edit
Have only eaten here a few times because of the limited menu. Enjoyed the nori wrapped celeriac alternative to a fish burger during one visit. Would recommend trying that at home whe in season if no longer on the menu. Great cakes!

I feel so bad but not a good experience for us unfortunately - Edit
There is a second branch of Holy Cow in Edinburgh that is on the other side of the city which we didn’t realise as I couldnt find it on happy cow. The menus for both are on the website but just one after the ever and I hadnt noticed the names; obviously these are my mistakes. However the menu for this branch is much much smaller with options reduced to burgers, sandwiches, salads and cakes only. We got two salads as neither of us had wanted sandwiches (and burgers are basically the same thing) - the caesar salad and the pad thai salad. My partner couldnt finish her caesar salad as there was too much dressing and she didnt like it. My salad was nice but there was sooo much peanut sauce on it it was dripping. My partner did get a smoothie and a cake which she said were good though. There were nice decorations with art you could purchase. There seemed to be only one staff member working and the place was quite small and we watched two groups get turned away but it wasnt even very busy, just the tables were all full. It feels like maybe this is a lunch location rather than dinner.

Amazing cake! - Edit
So we came here 3 years ago last time we was in Edinburgh and really wanted to try it again as we couldn't remember how good it was and it did not disappoint. We really just wanted a hot drink and some cake after a dag of shopping and I had the red velvet cake and my mum had the new York cheesecake. Both were amazing. The cheesecake was easily the nicest vegan cheesecake I've ever tried, actually had that cheesecake flavour and tasted so much like a dairy one you'd never have known the difference. Really hope to come back again one day! My only criticism is the prices are expensive, but after trying the cake it was worth every penny!

A cosy fully vegan restaurant in the centre of Edinburgh! - Edit
I ordered the Vegan CBLT sandwich and it delicious, but most importantly I have to mention the incredible care and attention given by staff. I have a severe nut allergy, and our waitress went above and beyond to ensure that I could be catered for. So impressed. Thank you.

Really Good Food - Edit
I got the pad Thai salad with the protein smoothie. I really enjoyed the salad. The smoothie was good too. I added extra protein (tempeh) to my salad as they don't add a lot of protein to the salad. The salad is big enough to share.
Read moreMy boyfriend got a cappuccino with the mango cheesecake. The cheesecake was nice and delicate. The mango skin top layer was really nice, but the middle part of the cake was too subtle. We wish the cake had more of a kick.

Soup was the best! - Edit
We just got to Edinburgh and we’re starving! We ordered the tomato soup which came with toast sourdough and was divine. The Reuben was meh and the burger nothing special. But the people were super nice and again the soup!!

Worth looking for! - Edit
With some mobility problems, we nearly turned back at the narrow, worn stone steps into the basement. But this is Edinburgh. Better directions on this site would help. Because the name is low down on the building, under another business, we nearly missed it. But it is very central, just behind the St James Quarter shopping centre.
Read moreThe food was delicious, but everything had bread, either under an open sandwich or round something like a ‘burger’. Oh, and the soup came with a choice of bread including a great buckwheat bread. Juices and artistic vegan cakes.
Pros: Tasty, Generous portions, Friendly staff

I’d give it another go but not excited - Edit
It’s cute and small, my partner had the burger and the chips were nice, it looked well done. But for me, I had the Vietnamese salad which was not very interesting or well done. It really was a huge pile of raw slaw with an uncooked slab of tofu on top. A little dressing. But after four bites it became boring to eat and I left 70% of it because there is only so much raw cabbage I can eat.
Read moreI may go back to give it the benefit of the doubt (not for burgers while they looked nice, I am not into the at all).

Best Restaurant in town so far - Edit
The food was consistently good, healthy and tasty. The music, workers and the people inside of this place create a calming and cozy atmosphere. We tried lots of restaurants in the town and were severely disappointed by every single one of them. This place was so far ahead on the scale that we ended up eating here every day after a while. It’s definitely not the best and healthiest place I’ve ever been, but the best place for vegan, healthy food in a cozy atmosphere in whole Edinburgh for us.

Cons: No cons actually
