A perfect little spot of vegan food and cheer! - Edit
I happened across Hippy Chick Hummus in December 2019 when I was in Frederick for business, and I fell in love with it at first sight! It was a lovely and funky little eatery with a bubbly staff and plenty of Christmas light and cheer to blend with the Christmas lights on the street. I was delighted to discover that every single thing in the restaurant was vegan, and I had a lovely meal and also took away Hippy Chuck Hummus mementos, which I still have.
Read moreYesterday my daughter and I were in Frederick to visit the National Museum of Civil War Medicine, and after we had had finished we walked around and found Hippy Chick again! The art and the announcements and the decor were still hippy dippy in the best possible way, and Sofia, Sierra, and Erika were very friendly and helpful. Erika's recommendation of the hummus with warm pita hit the spot, and I saw that there were plenty of Olipop sodas in the cooler! (I snapped one up to go with my meal.) Thank you very much!
This restaurant feels comfy and like coming home to a warm, safe, welcoming vegan place. The food, the decor, and the ambience are all wonderful. I'll be coming back, hopefully before another five years have passed; I can't imagine visiting Frederick again without stopping by my favorite vegan haven! Five fervent stars!

Little gem in an old town - Edit
So good! Everything is made fresh and full of flavor. I had the pita wrap and got a chick pea “tuna” sandwich to go. The outside seating is lovely. Staff is very friendly. Very welcoming! And great spot in downtown Fredrick.

I downloaded HappyCow before my brief stay in Frederick and found this place as the only 100% vegan eatery in town. I was super excited about having dinner there and was not disappointed. The Buddha Salad with cilantro/jalapeno hummus was phenomenal, as was the watermelon/jalapeno lemonade. The two young ladies working there couldn't be nicer, and I greatly enjoyed talking with them. I bought an olive oil/cardamom cookie to go and will be back for an early lunch tomorrow (probably consisting of one of their intriguing smoothies) before I head south.

I happened to visiting for work this same day and checked Happy Cow because I found myself stuck in town at 9am. The hours on Happy Cow indicated they were open. I would have to walk there so I called to confirm and someone said they were closed but they THINK they open at 10:30am. Checking out their own website, I was not able to see hours of operation. So unfortunately, I was not willing to take risk when hours cannot be confirmed AND I had to walk out of my way to find out. I tried. Very sad.

We stopped in for a bite after work and before looking at all the Christmas lights on Carroll Creek. Delicious wraps, big enough for two meals. There are only two tables in the front, which suggests you should take your food to go.

Right in downtown Frederick there be a quaint hummus cafe ( vegan of course). We grabbed a table in front and enjoyed the Hippy Sampler, very delicious and certainly enough for two. Finished up with a peanut butter cookie.

We eat more of a whole food plant based diet rather than vegan and the sweet girls that worked here were so knowledgeable and able to help us out! Highly recommend! Hubs loved his GF wrap…it was so nice and soft for being gf and I LOVED the ricotta panini…the vegan ricotta was truly amazing and the fact that they used sweet cherry tomatoes was such a refreshing flavor change from boring big grocery store tomatoes that have no flavor….and the bread was just so soft and fresh. Can’t wait to come back to try other things!

My husband's brother and sister in law took us here and it was so welcome on our road trip. We sat in a lovely shaded backyard. Not to be missed: the humus sample plate with three humuses, green falafel and veg, and the chick'n sandwich with homemade chickpea patty and ciabatta. The basil lemonade and kombucha were so refreshing. We felt satiated and vibrant on a mellow August afternoon.

I am never disappointed when I go there, they have a lot of choices and specials so you never get tired of the menu. It's not the place to go if you are craving rich, heavy foods though. It's all light and healthy. Which is not usually what I pick when I'm going out to eat, but is a nice change once in a while.

The cheese panini and turmeric black pepper hummus were good. The broccoli flatbread was a miss. I could've made it at home, and better. The interior of the cafe is cute. I'd go back to try other things but I wasn't blown away.

Read moreThe restaurant itself is small and cozy with a lovely bay window/book nook and interesting pieces of art displayed (and for sale).
I had the walnut crumble taco salad and it was fantastic! The walnut meat was seasoned to perfection and paired well with the crispy greens, corn, black beans and tortilla chips.
My son, who is NOT vegan and a very picky eater overall, had the cashew ricotta grilled cheese and he loved it!
We also had the olive oil chocolate chip cookies and OMG they were so, so good! They have a hint of cardamom which takes the cookie to another level of deliciousness!

This is small place on Market St in the heart of downtown Frederick. Tried the falafel salad with garlic hummus and a banana almond smoothie and they were both amazing. The service and atmosphere were great and we can't wait to go back to try more of the food. It's an hour away from home, but worth the drive.
