I’m in Philly for a conference. HipCityVeg is 100% plant-based and most things can be made gluten free.

Philly cheesesteak!!!! - Edit
I have had many philly cheese steak sandwiches after going vegan. Most of them tasted great, but until today, they were still always a disappointment because this was my favorite thing to eat before going vegan, and the vegan versions just didn’t have the same texture or taste I was looking for. All of that changed today. This made my day, week, month, summer! Even my mom said it was the best sandwich she has had since going vegan. I would eat this sandwich every day if this restaurant was near my home. The restaurant itself is very small, with 3 small stools at a counter for those who wish to dine in. There were also some cafe tables in the lobby of the building that it is in that are available for diners, but it is still just a building lobby, and doesn’t feel much like a restaurant if you do that. Oh well, didn’t really care, because it was just me and mom having the best sandwich ever!

Decent Food Fast - Edit
Arrived in Philadelphia late on a Sunday, but was able to snag dinner from HipCity via Caviar. I requested that a wrap be made gluten-free (i.e. as a salad) and they called to confirm that was what I wanted, which was decent of them.
Read moreThe food was tasty, but nothing blew us out of the water. A burger or wrap alone is not enough for someone hungry, so make sure you get a side.

If you are staying at a hotel on Broad Street and are not happy with the breakfast options, this place is solid and serves breakfast until 11am! The tofu scramble was delish and it was ready super fast. And the coffee was great, too!

I have tried about 4 different burgers from here the Ziggy Burger 10/10, the Bistro Bella 8/10 , Buffalo Bella 9/10, and the disco chik’n 10/10... oh yeah and the fries are literally so good. Don’t forget to ask for the drinks without ice in them... all of the desserts tend to be a little too sweet 7/10 rating for all desserts.

Gluten free must be a salad, but they're yummy! - Edit
I was a little disappointed when I found out that in order to make my meal gluten free, I had to have a salad. I have salads at home because when I make them for myself, they tend to be more filling, and when I have a salad at a restaurant, they tend to be mostly lettuce and not enough other veggies and protein. It was no different here. I wanted a sandwich that they offer. It says on the menu that there's a way to get it gluten free, so I was really hoping for gf bread, which I only allow myself when I eat out. It turns out that when they say you can get something gf, they mean that they will make it as a salad. So, I was still hungry when I finished my meal, BUT I really enjoyed it very much. It was tasty!
Read moreOne thing that I think they can improve with their salads: Offer to toss it before putting it into the very small container. It's not really possible to toss the dressing in the tiny container without either spilling a bit or just not really getting the dressing spread out, and it would be even more delicious if that amazing dressing were coating the delicious salad ingredients.
But I still would've rather had a gf bread option. I think many vegans are likely also gluten free.
Pros: yummy food!, friendly staff, great prices
Cons: small portions, no gluten free bread

Yum for breakfast! - Edit
This is my second visit to Philadelphia and return visits to Hip City Veg!
Read moreSo nice and worth the walk to have a vegan breakfast. My favorite thing so far is the lox and loaded breakfast bagel—everything bagel with cream “cheese”, capers, carrot “lox”, cucumber and tomato. It was so fresh and delicious, while being filling and light. Two thumbs up. Note, there are two locations within a few blocks of each other, but only the Broad St. Location is open for breakfast.
Pros: Vegan breakfast!!!, All vegan!, Quick and yummy!

When in Philly you have to eat a steak and cheese sandwich, but what if you don’t eat steak or cheese?!!! This place had just what I was looking for. Recognizing that just because it is plant based does not mean its healthy, I had a very tasty green smoothy! Lots of other sound alike options and a few actually healthy vegan meals too.

I love this place. Omni's love it too! It is a tad on the pricier side for "fast food" but it's far healthier than traditional fast food and it doesn't involve animal slaughter.

Fast, delicious, comforting, but with a slight hint of janky - Edit
Okay, first off, I recognize there are a few locations to choose from, so perhaps this one may be the outlier, but here are my points:
Read more- My significant other got the Chik'n nuggets with the sweet potato fries and sriracha aoili
- I purchased the Crispy Hipcity Ranch (Chik'n sandwich, with peppercorn ranch).
She really enjoyed her nuggets, and the sweet potato fries, were partially crispy and some of them were a little flat..., but otherwise tasted great, and the aoili was delicious
My sandwich, was absolutely delicious, I loved it. It felt like a homemade sandwich, and was totally a comfort food;
The service was pretty fast, and it was pretty busy in there, but we both had to use the rest room; which is where David Bowie should have appeared...
You have to go out into the main building lobby, past the security guard, through another door (next to the stairs), and then go to the restroom door, which despite being labeled as Male/Female, are exactly the same bathroom stall, and key works for both
Bathroom itself was OK I guess in terms of cleanliness, but a weird place to get to it without any signs, and it feels like the bathrooms are shared heavily without any type of occupied sign (which my girlfriend almost walked in on somebody due to this).
Other than that, the seating arrangement is small, it has the kind of window seating area like a coffee bar would have, stools against a bartop, about 5 seats, and then in the lobby of this large building, about 5 table tops, 4 seats at each. It's a little odd for a place that busy, unless you were just grabbing lunch to go?
The prices are a bit steep generally, $10 for a sandwich alone? Is this Greenwich Village in NYC or the UWS? Either way, it was delicious, but price point wise is pricey.
Also, the ingredients aren't exactly labeled as to what is in what (for allergies, or sensitivity, etc.). Like for example Soy in the Chik'n, or if it's made with Seitan, etc.
Pros: Food is delicious, A lot of different options, Fast service
Cons: Lack of transparency in ingredients, Poor Seating, Labryinth level doors for a bathroom

I just want to sit down and eat! - Edit
I LOVE HIP CITY VEG! Delicious fast food, all vegan and healthier than some alternatives. I have been here several times and always thouroughly enjoyed the food and the staff has always been super friendly. The sweet potato fries are a perfect side to the burgers. It's always busy and they have very little seating. It doesn't stop me from going whenever I am in Philly but it would be great to sit down and enjoy rather than pounding down my sandwich on the street!
