The Ramen I'm Always Craving for - Edit
I came here for a bowl of ramen, definitely, since I've been always a huge fan of ramen even before I switched to veganism.
Read moreI was always craving for a bowl of chicken ramen back then and when I went vegan I was like, "I'm not sure I'm gonna find a good enough replacement for this kind of food so I need to forget it ASAP." But then I saw some review about Herbivore and its ramen, and I decided to make a visit when I was in Singapore.
And YES. The spicy ramen was wonderful. It was exactly the way I expected it to be, in every detail.
It was even better than the usual ramen, because it's vegan and the taste was just the same. It was pretty juicy, tasty, and spicy so I could not ask for anything more.
The portion was also big enough so it would keep you far from hunger for a while. When you're in Singapore you have to give it a try. So lovely.
And the service was also good, the food came out pretty quick even tough when I came it was pretty crowded and almost no available table left.
It's a must visit place for a vegan.
Pros: Really good food, Quick service

Vegetarian Japanese / Western Cuisine - Edit
Visited on a Sunday morning at 11:30am.
Read moreWe were the first customer of the day. Nice ambience to dine in, service was ok.
I love the avocado maki. My miso ramen was good. But the king oyster mushroom and spicy ramen was disappointing.
Oyster mushroom was too thin and the sauce was way too sweet despite we tried to "wipe" off the sauce. The taste of the spicy ramen was to the mild side and spicy level was basically zero to one level.
Hopefully they would do regular food tasting.
Pros: Great varieties
Cons: Not cheap

Must eat here - Edit
Best food I had while in Singapore. Not cheap, but I ordered a bunch of smaller menu items and had a filling meal. It was really fresh and tasty and super unique food. Had a great atmosphere and friendly staff! Would love to get their gyoza again everyday for the rest of my life. Also make sure to check out the rest of the “mall” it is located in because there are tons of veg/vegan places located inside!

nice food - Edit
a stylish restaurant in an area where there is so much competition.
Read morefancy tablets to order food, which staff kindly helped with, and they were also really helpful with vegan options. literally any dish they have can be made vegan and they said it was not an issue.
I had a big noodle dish with some sides, my partner in crime had a big bento box and my wee one had a satay and corn on the cob.
it was a but pricier than most ot it's competitors but the portions were huge. we did end up with a couple of things we weren't keen on, but that's often the issue with bento's, it's almost impossible to like every dish.
overall a great restaurant, a little oily, buy really good quality.
Two years on and another visit. It wasn't the best experience as we arrived at 2105 and it was closing at 2130. They gave us two options. We took them.
I self under pressure the whole time and although we were late as king for us to pay before we had eaten was a little rude.
As with my last visit the food was really good, it should be for the most expensive meal we had in two weeks. Two Bento box and a fish curry, green tea for over 80sgd. A luxury.
I would go back but you couldn't go often due to price.
Good Japanese vegan options.
Pros: vegan options, tasty, location
Cons: price

Tasty Japanese Food - Edit
Herbivore is a lovely Japanese restaurant in the corner of the ground floor. It is all vegetarian, which is great, but its vegan options are somewhat limited, although some dishes can be made vegan. Most of the sushi contains mayonnaise. The hot soups are delicious and the sets are good value and a good way to try some of their side dishes (like dumplings and tempura). The restaurant has a nice atmosphere.

I had a bento with gyoza and mock meat with one of the vegan sushis. I was very happy with the food overall. It’s a bit pricey but it’s the best mock meat I’ve ever tasted in my life.

great spicy ramen and unagi rolls! great service too! no MSG. - Edit
A nice cozy [censored]-vegetarian resto in Fortune center. Went here 2x before. We were pleased with the taste of the spicy ramen. The "meat" slices really tasted like meat you would hardly believe it isnt one. The dumplings that came with the ramen were superb too. We also liked the sesame soup base on our second visit. The unagi sushi was a winner... tasted like real ones. We also ordered and tried the asparagus wrap thinking it was plant-based cheese but it was real cheese. We were warned it could get salty but we didnt heed it. Nice ambiance, great staff service especially the Filipina lady named Belle. She really assisted us and gave tips which ones are nice to order. Overall, price was ok for the serving I guess as hubby and I shared every dish. Definitely a 2 thumbs up recommendation. It's for both vegetarians and nonV peeps. A place ud look fward comin back to.

the BEST avocado rolls - Edit
Honestly some of the best vegan sushi I’ve ever had. Love that although it’s a vegetarian restaurant, all the vegan options are all clearly labelled. The gyoza were a bit too crispy for my liking, but the sesame noodle soup was very good, as was the vegan teriyaki ‘chicken’. The star of the show though, was the vegan sushi - the avocado sushi to be more specific. Absolutely perfect. Would go back again just for this.

Perfect - Edit
Omg! A vegan sushi place, heaven is a place on Earth. True, not all is vegan and most sushi restaurants are able to produce vegan sushi on request... but never before I saw vegan unagi or such creativity with vegan sushi combinations. I thought that since I turned vegan I'd never taste anything like that again, but here I did. Loved the food here.
Read moreIt is very expensive. But then again, most things in Singapore are. One weird thing: There's no bathroom in the restaurant?? You have to go out in the shopping mall to find one.

Incredible Vegan-Friendly Japanese Cuisine - Edit
Came down with my loved one and it was one of the best meals I've had at a vegan-friendly vegetarian restaurant. We had the Katsu Curry Udon (curry gravy was a wee bit salty), Katsu Curry Bento Set and the Unagi Rolls, all of which were really flavourful. When ordering, remember to indicate "VEGAN" in the remarks for the dishes that have a vegan option. I highly recommend this place.

Delish! - Edit
A nice selection on the menu. The plant based TVP was cooked beautifully. I had a curry soup and my husband had a huge bento box. There were some odd things in the box, but all tasty. We also ordered gyoza which were yummy. A bit expensive, but typical for Singapore.

big portions - Edit
We had fish Katsu Curry and pork Ramen :) it seems like Herbivore has now started labelling some of their dishes Vegan, even the curry and sushi can be made without dairy and eggs. Taste wise, the Ramen reminds us of wanton noodles even though it's not the same kind of noodles. Very salty, probably 'cause of the added seaweed. Curry taste more like Indian curry rather than the usual sweet Japanese curry, but nonetheless tasted amazing. The gyoza didn't 'wow' me

Tastes better than the real thing! - Edit
I became vegan over a year ago & haven't had teriyaki chicken since. It was exciting to see it on their menu and even more exciting that it tasted even better than I expected! Definitely want to try the fish next.

Amazing - Edit
The staff was very friendly and helpful with identifying what is vegan. The restaurant itself was nice and clean. I would say it is one of the best restaurants in Singapore I have tried. We had sushi, vegetable tempura and gyoza (make sure to mention that you want sushi it vegan as it comes with mayonnaise). Vegan options are marked.

Slightly more upscale veggie Japanese - Edit
More upscale decor and seating than the other dining spots in this shopping center. Staff attentive and knowledgeable about vegan items on menu, which has multiple bento set, sushi, and noodle options. Unfortunately, I was told that the veggie sashimi - which I was looking forward to trying - is not vegan as it contains milk ingredients. I had the spicy ramen soup instead, and it was excellent. Prices are definitely higher than the other eateries in this center, but worth it. Recommended!

Best veg Japanese restaurant - Edit
First of all i hv to agree that food is expensive. However despite that, I will highly recommend vegetarians esp tourist not to give this a miss. This is located in bugis. One of the touristy area. Easy walk from bugis mrt and you can ask around easily how to get to fortune center. The food is creative and the taste is uniquely interesting and magical. Try out their unagi dishes including sushi, their avocado sushi is a hit too. If you just want a simple lunch without burning a big hole in your pocket, u can try out their sesame based soup ramen. Very nice! Despite spending close to $60- $80 every visit with my family of 3 or 4, we felt extremely satisfied. Will def revisit when the cravings are back!

Great for vegetarians. Trickier for vegans. - Edit
When a restaurant makes a longtime vegan stop and ask if the sashimi really is veg-based, that's how you know it's a well-done meal. I'm used to analogue meats that are very good, but this was my first go with vegetarian sashimi and it was freakishly good. The texture and taste was spot-on, which admittedly was a bit disturbing, but it was tasty. Servings were large, and you order from a tablet attached to the table, which is nice for seeing photos of what you're going to order, but I would have liked to see some descriptions or ability to comment with special requests.
Read moreI'm taking away a star because the service wasn't very attentive, and I really wish they labeled the differences between vegetarian or vegan to make it easier for the vegans to order. They have the tablet ordering system, so it would be super convenient to simply have a special request option to "make it vegan" without having to grill the server for information. While they don't use eggs, they do use dairy, so you have to make sure to request no sauce/mayo, which is dairy-based.
