My hubby and I will be going for the third time in 6 days. We have loved everything we have eaten and drunk so far- it is a bit pricey yes but you definitely get what you pay for. Food Service is very quick and the staff are very, very friendly.
The first time we went, it was so packed we had to sit outside…

I also really really appreciate that you get pictorial evidence/guide of the dishes so you are not left guessing whether you like it based on ingredients alone (slight rant but it is such a simple concept that should be incorporated at ALL restaurants- it also makes it easier to try something new.

Anywho if in the area, I thoroughly recommend!

Completely tasty Bentos

I went here twice and was thrilled both times with the variety of tastes in the Bentos (had the Unagi Bento and the Katsu Curry Bento). Both filled me up and delivered a great Japanese taste. The Unagi Don in particular had the perfect smoky signature sauce.

Great food!

Unassuming Japanese vego place in the middle of Bencoolen area. Easy to find in Fortune Center. Herbivore is probably my fave place to eat at in Singapore. I wouldn’t say the best for I have not visited all the veg places in SG. I stayed for 6 days and I barely scratched the surface of plantbased dining. But so far, in those 6 days of eating out, Herbivore is defo on top of my list. Full on flavour, delicious eats, good service. Attentive staff even when they’re packed. Highly recommended and will definitely go back again in the near future.

Pros: Properly labelled food, Huge serving, Delicious

Japanese delight

Had lunch here and the food was amazing. The gyoza was crisp and delicious. The ‘pork’ skewers were by far my favourite. The ramen was underwhelming but not bad. Efficient service and good food !

Ramen is awesome

Whenever I want ramen, this is my go to place. If you come on the weekends, make reservations.

Pros: Plenty of sushi if you miss that as a vegetarian, Vegan selections are marked clearly

Cons: A bit pricey, Sometimes they seat people outside in the corridor

Good Japanese vegan food

Restaurant itself feels outdated and quite dark. Wasn’t a big fan of that. I arrived before my friend and they made me wait outside for her even though i asked if i could already get seated and brows the menu. Found that a bit bizarre.

In the menu they had plenty of vegan options to choose from. We ordered several dishes and really liked gyozas and unagi rolls. Soup was underwhelming in my opinion and tempura that goes with it a bit bland.

I would go again to try the other sushi rolls.

Great sushi but not the rest

I found this restaurant to be a mixed bag, as some of their dishes was amazing (sushi!) but some of their curries I didn’t like at all and couldn’t finish the dish. Their staff was not helpful, as there was two double orders which we didn’t do and when we explained to them they said we still had to pay for it. So we ended up paying double for two dishes we didn’t order. Was disappointed all in all with the visit

Delicious Japanese Vegan Food

If you have a difficulty to find a good, tasty vegan sushi, you need to definetialy try Herbivore. It is vegetarian/vegan restaurant and the menu clearly indicates which products contain dairy (they not use egg in any dish), which is very convenient for vegans. I did not asked about option of veganizing any vegetarian dish because there are huge amount of options available. Definetialy will come back to try other dishes!

Pros: Many vegan options, Clear indication of vegan options, Nice atmosphere

Cons: Not cheap

This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants. Japanese vegetarian food is so sumptuous and tasty. Today I had the tempura soba set and the crispy floss maki 😍 lovely meal

I had the Unagi sushi and the spicy ramen, and they were delicious and well prepared 🥰 highly recommended for vegans as they have lots of choices for non-dairy items. Worth coming back again ❤️

Many delicious veg/vegan choices!

Most veg singaporean would have been here! One of the google search pop up for vege foodie~ This restaurant sell Jap vege foodie and we had the below for 60ish sgd. Staff are helpful and restaurant is spacious. Try to make your reservation early as they seems to be fullhouse most of the time when I went. Below foodie are suitable for Vegan too.

✨ Teriyaki Chicken - I find this dish very well presented (like the plating ~ haha !) and ok with this dish... but find it a little salty. Non Veg SJ find this no go as the “meat” is dry and sauce is salty (he is picky mannnn...). We could not finish this. Love the ginger deco tho! Wish there was more ginger hahaha

✨Non dairy spicy ramen - this dish came with dairy but can opt for no dairy. I had this and enjoyed a lot. Love the soup! So flavourful. Thick savoury kind of taste. ~Ask for lesser noodles if you ain’t a big eater as noodles portion is generous. Love the ingredients in it!

✨ Miso ramen- SJ had this and love his soup more than mine... but I prefer mine more hahaa #tasteissubjective

✨ wakame as side - love this. Cause it’s simple yet yummm!

✨Ocha in pot for 9sgd - simple tea drinks and warming...

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Lots of vege options, Meatless establishment

A must for Japanese food lovers

Environment: Simple, cozy, no-frills

Food: It is very hard to find a decent Japanese vegetarian or vegan restaurant in general. This has been one of the best I have been in my life. Lots of choices for bento and soup noodles. Staff would be able to recommend vegan options. Do make sure to ask for vegan substitutes if you are ordering bento as there are quite a few things in it.

Service: Friendly, attentive, caring

Price: Medium range

Pros: Bentos are like "happy meals"

Cons: Could be crowded with a line during lunch

Excellent food in a pretty space

So many dishes I haven’t found anywhere else! Bento is large enough to share and all of the sushi rolls are, too. I’ve been here a number of times - and meat eaters are so impressed!

my *number 1* FAV japanese place!

despite the price tag, i can’t resist their good food 🥺 the staff are friendly and the ambience is good! i love their newly updated menu which clearly states allergens and if vegan options are available for certain dishes.

*recommended*

616 - unagi maki $14
8pc of pure goodness! tastes like the unagi i remembered!

217 - katsu curry set $18
fried breaded “chicken” cutlet on a bed of rice with carrots, potato and curry. mild spice. comes with a side of miso soup, salad with delicious creamy dressing, and yuzu jelly! an absolute favourite

221 - sakana curry set $18
like the katsu one but “fish” this time! just as good.

194 - goma (sesame) ramen $13
huge portion of ramen in a rich soup base! sooo good & legit.

195 - miso ramen $13
super good too! i prefer the sesame one tho.

*pretty good*

625 - salmon temaki $6 (dairy)
i didn’t try it as contains dairy but i heard it tastes legit!

208 - tempura udon $19
classic udon with a side of fried battered veggie tempura, dipping sauce and some pickles

839 - yuzu jelly $4
free with all set meals. melt-in-your-mouth texture, refreshing & delectable!

189 - spicy ramen set $18
mild-moderate spice. i prefer the sesame or miso ramen but this is good too!

328 - unagi kabayaki $14

*others*

502 - yaki gyoza $7
5pc, pretty alright. don’t forget the dipping sauce!

219 - unagi don $18
this was alright, not quite as “unagi” as the unagi maki :’(

515 - agedashi tofu $5

324 - grilled shiitake $6

326 - enoki pork $13 (dairy)

overall it’s one of the best vegan japanese food i’ve ever tried 😫 you won’t be disappointed!

Pros: lots of vegan options, allergens indicated, friendly staff, nice ambience , good food

Cons: expensive

Best "unagi" I've ever tried!

We discovered this place when we were trying to look for another vegan restaurant in the Fortune Centre and we're glad we stumbled upon this one! We ordered a side dish of ginger ($2) because we love ginger a lot, the unagi maki ($14) which was bang on flavour and one of the best vegan sushis I've ever tried (and we've tried A LOT), the teriyaki fish ($14) and 2x California handrolls ($5 each). I love handrolls and this place really packed the handroll full, and replaced the salmon with an extra crabmeat because the sashimi isn't vegan. Four thumbs up from us!! The place got really busy as soon as we sat down, but everyone seemed to get a table as soon as they came in, so great timing! If you like sushi, then I highly recommend trying this place.

Pros: Non dairy items clearly marked, Helpful and accommodating staff, Best vegan unagi I've ever tried
