Vegan restaurant, opened summer 2013. Has a living-kitchen concept with a daily changing menu and various desserts. Previously at Lappenbergsallee, opened at new address from May 2017. Close to U3 Feldstraße.
Note May 2020: open for takeaway and outdoor dining, see Facebook page for weekly hours. Open Tue-Fri 12:00-22:00, Sat 11:00-22:00, Sun 11:00-17:00.
Kitchen closes between 4-6pm.

My favorite restaurant of all. I can’t say enough good things about this place. They have delicious, healthy food, big portions, and a great variety. They work hard to minimize waste and be sustainable, but they are also genuine and kind souls. I love it here!

5 Sterne, was anderes kommt für mich nicht in Frage denn ich war schon unzählige Male in diesem Restaurant und komme immer glücklich wieder heraus. Der Gästebereich ist zwar leicht überschaubar aber das macht meiner Meinung nach das Happenpappen zu etwas ganz besonderem. Leider ist es zur Mittagszeit und gegen 19 Uhr daher sehr schwer einen Platz zu bekommen aber mittlerweile weiss ich wann ich zeitlich einen Platz bekommen kann. Von der Bedienung muss ich garnicht anfangen, die ist Spitze! Jeder Kuchen dort schmeckt so lecker und wenn man nicht so auf süß steht sollte man abends dann unbedingt eine Burgerbowl probieren auch wenn die Auswahl schwerfällt, da alle einfach toll sind! Große Empfehlung ohne Kompromisse.

HappenPappen is a very cosy little restaurant, unfortunately just a little too little for the crowds it attracts. Their burgers are quite creative, they are not just any veg burgers you can get anywhere else but they are well thought through - I would call them "concept burgers"😄I had one filled with root vegetable salad with a chickpea-rice patty and wasabi sauce and another sauce that I do not remember the flavour of. The taste of sauces was just a little too strong, it dominated the composition, but the patty was delicious and the overall picture presented itself well. Also we had fries with vegan cheese - which I normally dont like, but it was surprisingly good😄Overall, I recommend, but be prepared that it might be packed!

The place is quite small but everyone was very friendly and the food was delicious! There aren't many choices on the menu but what they had was really good. I had the veggie quiche and a orange and ginger tea and it was great.

Es gibt eine kleine Speisekarte und eine Kuchenvitrine mit vielen leckeren Kuchen und Torten. Die Burger kann man "normal" oder als Bowl bestellen. Eine riesen Empfehlung sowohl die Burger als auch die Torten. Zum Frühstück gibt es auch ein paar Gerichte, das Bananenbrot mit Joghurt sind auch sehr lecker. Wer Zeit hat, muss dort unbedingt essen gehen!

I had the quiche, which was really heavy with whole potatoes and caraway seed (brrrr) inside and a blueberry cheesecake, which was extremely sweet and one of the worst vegan cheesecakes I’ve had so far (I’m a cheesecake addict and try them everywhere.) Just tasted sweet, otherwise no Sühne cheesecake flavors. Rubbery texture. Ginger orange tea had no ginger taste at all.

A cozy cafe, entirely vegan. Tried Mexican burger, the patty is pleasantly chewy with the cheese on it, slightly spicy due to jalapeños but they and nachos made the flavour even better! The service is great - nice and smiley.

This is certainly the best vegan place in Hamburg in my opinion.
Read moreWe were here on the first day at its new location and absolutely loved the food here (vegan quiche with salad, sweet potato curry).
The atmosphere is very inviting, and it's just the right place for good conversations.
There's a sign outside against racism, sexism, and homophobia, and all the people working here seem to be women. It's great to see an intersectional vegan place!! Absolutely recommended!
Update: I went back here in December and ordered the same meal (vegetable quiche), but it was sooo salty that the whole dish was ruined. Hopefully, I was just unlucky.
Update 2: I went back for the same vegetable quiche, and it was fine again! Also had banana bread and a really delicious berry cake. The cakes seem to be the highlight there.
Update 3: The banana bread is still amazing. I tried one of the burgers which was pretty good, although the fries are extra which feels a bit like a rip-off given the fact that the price for fries was like €3.

Read moreWe visited the place during peak hours. That's why it took some time before we got our burgers. It was definitely worth the wait though. Everything is/seems to be freshly prepared and the burgers tasted really good.

Cozy cafe in the middle of Hamburg. On nice sunny day great to eat lunch outside. All the food was fresh, displayed well and tasted awesome. Loved the use of spices and herbs. Service was a great. Most of the options are glutenfree. The Greek bowl was great and so was the quiche. Plenty of fun drink options.

We had two nice burgers, even tho there is a bit too much salad on them. We didn’t know that in the evening they have a burgers only menu, because we wanted to try a sandwich as well. But the burgers were still great and the cake was awesome as well !
