I had my breakfast there when it was hard to find any other place that was open at that time. I liked it, especially that it wasn´t too sweet. As they don´t have seats they only offer the dishes in throwaway-cups. I don´t like that, but at least it seems they are trying to avoid plastic.

Haferkater offers some nice porridge with vegan toppings. Perfect if you want something sweet for breakfast or as a snack. Sadly they dont have a hearty topping. The pricing is fair and the store is easy to find, right beside the Rewe Go.

I love oatmeal. And I also happen to make the best oatmeal in the world. Thus, I have ALWAYS been disappointed when ordering oatmeal at cafès. But Haferkater know how it's done. I have only had their porridge once - but it was delicious and the staff was very friendly. When I come back home to Cologne from a train ride, or if I pick someone up from the main train station and I'm hungry - I will make sure to go here!

I love their coffee! :-) Yes, the porridge is also fantastic - really the best breakfast or snack food available at the central station - but the coffee.... The staff is very friendly and the whole shop radiates friendly warmth.
