Lightning speed service - Edit
Went here to try to some Slovenian dishes made vegan. They had a lot of pure vegan options, but other vegetarian dishes could be veganized. I was pleasantly surprised by the quick service. It was almost that the waiter and the cook knew what I wanted to order before coming to the restaurant 😝.
Read moreThe dish I chose had three different plant-based sausages and a small soup with cabbage and onion (I think?). All sausages contained buckwheat and some of of them had mock-meat inside. It was fulfilling.

Rude - Edit
We asked for a table.
Read moreThe waiter replied that there was no seats for us (but with no politness).
We then left the place when the same waiter littlerally pushed me (in the street) with his shoulder and whitout any apology.
We did not eat here but this non respectful behavior deserve a comment.

Go here! Don't even look at other options! - Edit
Amazing traditional food. Get the bograč (stew) and spoon over the dödöljev tris (potato dumplings) with the salata mencigar on the side. This is very filling for 2. Delicious!

We went there as Veganika was closed for the public holiday. The staff is nice, the weather was great so we could enjoy the outdoor seating area. Both dishes were surprisingly tasty and delicious.

Amazing vegetarian and vegan traditional Slovenian food! Unique place! - Edit
I was amazed to see the menu of this place. It was hard to choose, but I had vegan ”dödöle” and cabbage salad with pumpkin seed oil. Hearty and delicious. Love the concept!

That “Meat” Board 😍 - Edit
Wonderful experience and gorgeous dishes. We had the “Little Feast for 2” and it was a perfect amount of food. The spreads on the “meat” board were heavenly and the stew was so real to the traditional animal based dish, it creeped me out. I think that’s the mark for mock meat though. The desert was veganisable. An improving point would be warm bread for the bread baskets.

Vegan Slovenian feast - Edit
We spent a night in Ljubljana before heading to Punk Rock Holiday so we treated ourselves to a nice dinner. I read mixed reviews of this place, with a lot of people saying it's expensive but personally I thought the food was worth the money. It's a fully vegetarian restaurant but they can make the dishes vegan on request. We went for the bograč which was a sort of stew with seitan and potatoes, two types of dödöle - a potato dumpling, and a creamy tagliatelle with smoked ham and pumpkin seeds. Honestly everything was delicious, if we had spent more time in Ljubljana I'd definitely be going back here to try some other dishes. The service was great and it was lovely to sit out on the cobbled street and watch the world go by while enjoying delicious homemade food.

Awesome! - Edit
Traditional Slovenian food which can be prepared either vegan (for many things) or vegetarian. The food was tasty and rich. Great waiter who was extremely helpful. You have to try the traditional layer cake (can be either vegan or vegetarian). I loved this experience.

Best meal in Ljubljana - Edit
By far the best meal I had all week. The goulash like soup was particularly amazing and the gnocchi with pumpkin seed pesto was good too but very rich. They had a vegan gabinica, a local dessert, which was also very good

Traditional food made vegan - Edit
As others have mentioned, this place isn’t entirely vegan but the staff was knowledgeable and dairy/eggs were clearly labeled on the menu. I really wanted to try as many Slovenian (ish) dishes as possible, so my bf and I split the small vegan plate, a bowl of stew with potato dumplings, sausage, salad, and an Apple strudel for dessert. It was only slightly too much food (for our American bellies haha) and with two drinks each, the total was only 70€. At least by northern US standards, it was a great deal for such a large meal.
Read moreThe stew (don’t skip the potato dumplings!) and vegan appetizer plate were the real standouts. Both were so incredible that I will try to go back before I leave Slovenia
Pros: Huge menu, Relatively traditional , Upscale atmosphere
Cons: Kind of confusing - not fully vegan

Good food, high price - Edit
Place is not entirely vegan anymore, they serve dishes with dairy. Food was good, but too expensive for the size you're getting - this felt like finer dining, at least when we went there at night.

Soooo tasty! - Edit
We loved it. Came back the next day straight again. The main dishes (steak and sausages) were great but a little lackluster compared to the rest. The stew (Brogac) is a showstopper! We wanted to lick the plate clean. Also the vegan layer cake was unbelievable.

You should totally give it a try. Amazing flavors in Slovenian typical food. The restaurant is big but really can be crowded so try not to be late for lunch. It comes with a lot of food in a plate. Super gentle staff that doesn't speak really good English but makes a lot of effort for us to understand and get what we want.

Schlechter Service - Edit

Great food, unhappy staff - Edit
This is a lovely restaurant with outdoor seating and it’s nice inside as well. The food is really delicious. Vegetarian/vegan take on traditional Slovenian food. We had the potato and seitan stew which was excellent. The seitan was tender and tasty. We also had the potato cakes which were nice but not as good as the stew. We would have liked some wine but felt it was expensive compared to other places so didn’t bother. On the day we went the waitress we had was so miserable and gave the impression that she’d rather be anywhere else than working in the restaurant and serving us. Go there to enjoy the food despite the staff.
