Best vegan spot in Cusco! Twice the Flavor, Half the Price - Edit
This little corner of the San Blas Market is always packed, probably to the confusion of their neighbors. 7/s. Lunch specials are varied, tasty, and filling. I love that you get a chance to try various local dishes, vegan style. We ate here almost every day for two weeks.
Read moreWe also tried the falafel, which is a hit, but I prefer the daily lunch specials.
Everything here is half the price of other vegan options with twice the flavor. It has the added benefit of cultural value, because you get to hang out in the San Blas market which is not as touristy as San Pedro.
Pros: delicious & cheap, all vegan, in the beautiful San Blas Market
Cons: none

all vegan store! - Edit
This place is actually located in San Blas Market and she has a massive sign saying vegan food so its easy yo find. Set menu 7 soles and falafel is 10 soles. Both are amazing and i went to her nearly everyday i was in Cusco and when we returned she remembered us! Good vibes here, cheap & delicious. Definitely go here if you are vegan!

Delicious, honest to goodness, budget food, great atmosphere - Edit
We ate here several times during our stay in Cusco. Located in a corner of San Blas food market, sitting at the tables on benches, with a mix of locals and tourists, the menu of the day is served by the very friendly and enthusiastic chef, who cooks the meals in her tiny kitchen, before your very eyes. The soups are wholesome and delicious and are followed by a very generous main dish - we had empanadas, a lentil stew, with veg accompaniments and everything was so tasty. A herbal tea finished off the meal. It makes a great change from the touristy cafes and restaurants in the rest of San Blas - a wonderful, supercheap, healthy and delicious choice for vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters alike. Go there!

A Little Gem - Edit
Govinda's is a little place located in the corner of the San Blas market. Ive lived in Peru about 6 months, and Ive eaten there at least 15 times. The best thing about it is the price, you can get a meal and soup for 7 soles. The drawback, there is only one option, you eat what she cooks. However, this is a very common way of doing lunch at restaurants in Peru, most of the places you for lunch have a set menu. But it is always hot and fresh, and usually reasonably priced! Sometimes it's nice to be surprised by the entree ;) The food is touch and go. Some days I LOVE what she makes, and some days it is a bit more average. I highly recommend checking out this place at least once while you are in cusco! Its pretty authentic.

very cheap but good vegetarian/vegan food - Edit
If you want an honest to goodness vegetarian/vegan food without the fancy trimmings you will find in the expensive vegetarian restos in Cusco, then head to Govinda Lila's vegetarian restaurant. It is a corner stall in the Mercado San Blas. For 6 soles you will get a hot drink, a big bowl of soup and a plate full of rice with vegetarian side dish. Nothing beats it.

A real hidden gem! - Edit
This place wasn't so much a restaurant as a small stall tucked in one corner of San Blas market. The setting was really basic: a few tables and chairs and that was it. Probably 10 seats max. But don't get deterred by that, the food and value made up for it.
Read moreThe owner was a very nice lady who also did all the cooking. For 6 soles you get a soup, a drink, and a main plate. The day I went she had a gingery sweet potato soup, a passion fruit drink, and some kind of veggie patty in a red sauce topped with some stewed grain with a side of brown rice. Everything was homecooked and delicious. The patty had such great texture and flavor; the stewed grain was also good and very interesting. Never had anything like that. I tried to ask her what it exactly was but got lost in translation. Too bad it was already our last day in the city, otherwise I would've eaten here more than once for sure.
Pros: incredible value, great food, friendly owner

My favourite place in Cusco :) - Edit
I love this place - the food tastes great and seems like it's made much more healthfully than other places (no MSG, little or no oil), and it's 5 soles for a big meal. The soup is always delicious, as is the main which includes rice (you can get brown for an extra 2 soles), some kind of bean, some cooked vegetables and some raw vegetables. Perfect meal! The only downside is that it was a bit too much for me but tasted so good I always wanted to finish it. Lila is the sweetest, and although you sometimes have to squish in on the bench to fit, it's totally worth it for the fantastic lunch. I would eat here every day :)

Lovely desserts! New adress - Edit
They are now (March 2012) located in the crossing Shaphi-Amargura, just next to the police station. Quit many seats and friendly and quick service this time a year. They some lovely apple and walnut pies! The food was traditional hare krishna with some peruvian touch. Price alright too.

I love that place - Edit
I have been in Cusco for about 1 month and eat there everyday (except Sunday when that tiny restaurant is close). I'm vegan and when I asked about vegan option on a first day she told me that today she had only soup for me. She asked how long I will stay in Cusco and during that time she was cooking everything without any animal products. Only for me and on the same time for all customers who are not vegan. I was really surprised... By the way food there is really great! Everyday something new. and really cheap (about 1 EURO for soup, tea and main dish). Restaurant is very tiny and you have always opportunity to meet interesting people there.

I ate upstairs for lunch and paid 13 soles for salad, soup, main dish, and tea. The service was excellent and the meal delicious and healthy. They have three price levels of the plato del dia- 10, 13, and 15.

not worth it - Edit
Cusco is full of really great places you can eat veg*n.... this was THE worst place I went to. As others said, the food was bland... not flavored well at all. I didn't get my drink I ordered (tea) until after the meal. Cost was way too high for this food, too, but the set menu seems like it could be a less expensive option (though it still may not be worth it because the food wasn't great)

Ate here 3 days running it's amazing! - Edit
I would love the food here even if it didn't cost 3.5 Soles ($1.25) for a healthy, tasty, big lunch served by some really sweet people. Also a nice place to chat with local vegetarians! We had things ranging from gluten stir fry (typical peruvian Saltado), potato yuca soup, but the best was a veggie stuffed pepper. I want to go back already! Lunch usually runs out by 4 pm.

Bland food, a little too expensive - Edit
Went here for a set lunch, which was ten soles for soup, entree, and tea. The food was relatively bland-- a plain veggie soup, and an odd potato and soymeat dish without much flavor. The a la carte options are more expensive than at other veggie places in Cusco, and the set menu itself wasn't as good a bargain as the ones at El Encuentro and El Arbol.
