Amazing food! - Edit
Amazing cafe in Grafton. The food was great. Between the three of us we had the black forest pancakes, banoffee pancakes and the gorilla filla breakfast. Would highly recommend any of these. Nice range of menu items and really great looking cabinet display items too.

A great range of foods from hearty salads to burgers and fries. The cabinet food changes daily and is always great. So if it’s sweets or savoury you’re after this is the place for you! Light bowls or hefty breakfasts you’ll be satisfied.

Was looking for cake and coffee.
Read moreFW with soy was good. They use Vitasoy.
The custard slice was the best! The passionfruit cheesecake was good. And the choc Caramel as well. Maybe the last a bit too sweet for me.

Next time i will try a brekkie and also the lunch options look yummi!
Pros: All vegan, Great priced, Brekkie, sweet treat, lunch for all gravings a opt

We absolutely loved it, both me and my omnivore boyfriend!
Read moreWe had the mushroom burger, and if I had been hungry enough, I would have ordered the same dessert as our neighbors (waffles or pancakes), which seemed totally decadent.

Great menu - Edit
Currently (March 2019), there is no chef on Mondays, so no à-la-carte hot-food menu, just the cabinet items, which can be warmed up. Cabinet contains salads, hot dogs, tempeh bun, and stuffed kumara half, which I had. Comes with salad greens on the side, for $12 – filling and satisfying. I took away a chocolate-mint slice, $5 - maybe the bottom layer could be more moist. On my next visit, I had a Seize Her (Caesar-like) Salad for $17, which was massive and good, including giant capers and generous amounts of warm, crispy-skinned chickun and bakon. I took away a delicious sticky-date mini-cake. Kombucha is available on tap and in bottles. Smoothie bowls. Plant drinks. Treats and muffins. Menu looks interesting, with burgers (falafel, porq crackling, chickun, bakon, mushroom), some sweet-sounding French toast, nachos, etc. Several people were ordering the big breakfast, which looks worth a try too. Note that the breakfast menu is in effect 9 am-2 pm Mon-Fri and 9 am-3 pm Sat-Sun, and the lunch menu is 11 am-2 pm Mon-Fri and 11 am-3 pm Sat-Sun. Licensed – local craft beer, wines, spirits.

Delicious but call first - Edit
Call before you go! 3 out of 4 times the kitchen was closed early due to a festival or the hours had changed etc. - which is disappointing when you’re really hungry...
Read moreDelicious food! No matter if you feel like sweet or savory whole foods plant based or naughty vegan.
I asked them about their gluten free food and they’re super on to it. They prepare it separately and store it so it’s not next to or underneath not gf food 🤓
It’s eco heaven! They have steel straws, organic and local businesses, smart ass toilet paper - compost food scraps and even hand towels! Making my eco warrior heart glow 💚
Pros: Lots of vegan options, Look after the environment , Delicious food
Cons: Changing hours - kitchen closed early etc

The only fish substitute I've had in 3 years that was indistinguishable from actual fish. Great service too and a chilled vibe. Probably the best vegan in NZ. Seriously good lol

A great vegan restaurant! - Edit
Sunday 4 November we went for the first time to this restaurant for lunch and had banoffee pancakes. They were great: fluffy and creamy with lots of slices of baked banana and caramel sauce. We got a lot and it was too good to leave any leftovers.
Read moreWe also liked the atmosphere of the restaurant, light and happy and enjoyed the view over the upper Symonds street.
We will certainly be back for dinner!

A M A Z I N G ! ! ! - Edit
So glad I came here sooner rather than later. My expectations were exceeded, everything was on point.
Read moreTo start off, I had the lavender and blackcurrant kombucha on tap, which totally hit the spot. Made by Organic Mechanic.
And the French toast was simply delectable - rich, filling, and well presented.
The drinks menu was absolutely fantastic - pretty sure that you can find any drink that you want here - from kombucha and herbal teas to milkshakes and coffee and everything in-between!
Cabinet foods looked yummy, but no room in my tummy to fit more.
I managed to find a HappyCow Excellent Reviews window decal, and gave it to one of the lovely ladies to put up on their window.
Will be back for sure! Keep up the great work!
P. S. The only downside is the difficulty in finding parking. There's a small lane to the left as you drive past the cafe leading to Wilson Parking parks. Since I've a Wilson VIP carpark card with the company, it was easy enough for me and I didn't have to pay $8 for parking at Wilsons. There should be cheaper parks available behind the cafe but I didn't check that out.
Pros: Everything is vegan! , Delicious foods and drinks , Friendly and helpful staff
Cons: Difficult to find parking

Arrived a little late. The kitchen closes at 2pm. But they had plenty of food in the cabinet. We had the burrito and hotdog. The hotdog was really tasty. The burrito was flavourful too.

A welcome addition to the Auckland vegan scene! - Edit
We popped in to Gorilla Kitchen for the first time today and were not disappointed. We were expecting something less but were blown away by the quality and variety of the dishes.
Read moreReally tasty food with a wide variety of options, and the service was great - friendly and helpful.
We also really liked the wooden bench tops, especially the large one by the window, which was a proper table size, not the usual half-width bench with no room for all your food.
We had the cheesecake, the cornucopia (fritters) and the mushroom bruschetta and it was all really good. Really really good. On the pricey side, but Auckland is a pricey city, so can't really complain.
I also liked that they brought the cutlery to you at your table, rather than leaving it sitting there all day for everyone to sneeze on. (A real bugbear of mine!!)
We will definitely be back.
Pros: Central location, Lots of variety, Really tasty
Cons: Not particularly cheap, Need a wall menu or something more obvious
