Really amazing vegan food. Why have anything else? - Edit
I really enjoyed this place. Clean, friendly and comfortable. The food was great, prices reasonable, with lots of options. When you see all the delicious and healthy food that can be prepared vegan, why would you ever need to eat animal products again?

amazing food!! - Edit
I haven't really found a southeast asian restaurant in SF that I liked after living here for 3 years. I went to golden era skeptical and left feeling very satisfied and loving the food. We ordered drumsticks, spicy clay pot and pan fried noodles. Highly recommend and the prices were very reasonable for SF!

Good food and nice interior! - Edit
I liked the food and the menu was very varied, only thing was missing was a good service, waitress could not speak to me in English (she was Asian and really helpful and hard-working), so yep. I ate the pot this and the tea was great - cheap as well, 1€ only, recommend it :D The desserts are great and the pancake with ice-cream was great :D

The Best Vegan Asian Food!!! - Edit
Couldn't even believe how delicious this food was! My dad and I decided to order the avocado rolls to start then split the chow mien and lemongrass delight, all were super tasty! Since I decided a desert would be nice, we then shared a slice of the mocha cake. I still can't believe we could even eat that much food but I'd have to say that was the best vegan food I've ever tasted! Definitely worth the visit!

Order was misunderstood and they forgot rice. - Edit
Looks like a really nice place, but I placed a takeout order and the lady who answered was impossible to understand. I couldn't tell if she was speaking English or Chinese. She misunderstood what time I wanted to pick up my order and it was not ready. They quickly got it ready, and after I left I realized they forgot our rice and I had no time left to go back for it. I was very disappointed, Asian food without rice!!?? The food we did get was pretty decent or else I would have given 1 star.

Delicious! - Edit
Being so highly recommended on HappyCow, we had to try this restaurant. We arrived around 6pm on a Saturday and there was no wait though a line up developed shortly afterwards. We had the pho, sai gon rice plate, and spicy asian stew. All the dishes were delicious! There are so many other items that we will be returning for more.

So Damn Delicious - Edit
My guy found this vegan place when he was looking up places for us to eat. He's not vegan but he always accommodates me. He's too good to me omg. ANYWAYS. We went here and the food we got was hella good. I got some broccoli and soy "beef" and my guy got some sweet and sour chicken. We both got some jasmine green milk tea that was to die for. Speaking of dying my guy didn't realize he was allergic to pineapple so when he was eating - there was pineapple in the dish he got - his throat started to hurt a lot. He's all good now and he kept eating cause the food was THAT good. Literally to die for. To sum up, I highly recommend this place.

quiet dining, lots of choices - Edit
Pad thai spicy, generous sautéed tofu, doesn't really need the faux shrimp thats in it. Hubby got lemongrass deluxe which was great and I kept stealing from his plate. Seaweed salad was very light and fresh. Nice experience overall, good service, note: you have to get a key to use their restroom and the walk up Golden Gate is a bit sketchy coming from Market in the evening, but we had no problems and folks minded their own business.

10 years later, still fantastic - Edit
I first visited Golden Era about 10 years ago at their previous location, when visiting a friend in SF. I remember the food as being fantastic asian fusion and planned to go back if the opportunity to travel to San Francisco again ever presented itself. This past march that opportunity came and our final culinary stop was Golden Era. We ordered the spring roll appetizer and two entrees to share. If was more than enough. The service was prompt, food was great. Super tasty, filling and fresh.

The best Asian vegan restaurant in SF? - Edit
The Pad Thai with "shrimp" was excellent. Really enjoyed the meal, just as the place overall. I feel like it would make a great fit for a business meeting just as a romantic dinner. Most importantly though, the food is great.

Delicious Asian Vegan Food - Edit
I read about this place on Happycow and decided to eat here on a recent San Francisco trip. Here's my Golden Era Vegetarian review.
Read moreWe walked over from our hotel, a nice walk. For our lunch we ordered a vegetable steamed bun, the pho noodle, and the yum yum noodle. The pho noodle was very good and tasty. The broth was authentically Vietnamese, and the side plate of fresh basil, mung bean sprout, lemon, and slices of green jalapeno peppers was a nice (standard) accompaniment.
The yum yum noodle is a standard cold vermicelli noodle sprinkled with fried bits of veggies, accompanied by fried eggless rolls, and topped with shredded fresh lettuce, carrots, and cucumber. It came with a savory tangy sauce that you pour over the noodle. Delicious.
I was very happy that we stopped in for lunch. The food is good! The space is large and the feel is tranquil, has an old school (but interestingly decorated) Chinese restaurant vibe.

Golden era - Edit
The food was taistess and very oily. In addition the service was not very helpful and they forgot the drinks we ordered. After reading all the good reviews on HappyCow we were surprised and disappointed by the food this restaurant offers.

I went here last December and loved it. The restaurant space was really comfortable and clean, the waitress was friendly without being overbearing, and the food was delicious. I still dream about their imperial rolls.

I found this place close to my hotel. I was very happy! The place is very nice, super clean and modern. The staff? Adorable! The food is delicious! I went twice in two days and I had tasty food, in a nice environment. There should be more places like this one. The menu is extensive and offers a wide choice of Thai food, the dessert are amazing.

Good location, ok food - Edit
Right there near Civic Center, near Asian museum and the symphony, etc. So I have been there many times. I was happy for them that they were able to relocate and reopen after losing their other space, but my recent visits have been disappointing. Basically, there is too much mock meat, and when I asked the server for something without it, she recommended a vegetable dish.. oily and came with lots of fake meat I just had to push aside.
