100% vegan

I love this place! I try to go here for lunch at least once a month. My favorite is the Lemongrass Deluxe -- I like that it is served with steamed broccoli so I don't feel so guilty about eating the fried faux chicken! My other favorites are the Spicy Thai Fried Rice and the House Rice Claypot.

Pros: 100% vegan, reasonable prices, large portions

Cons: not the best neighborhood

go go go!

First of all, I love the restaurant itself. I’m from Aus and it’s one of the biggest all vegan restaurants I’ve been to. We sat in the booth both times and it’s just so comfortable. When I went the first time I wasn’t even in the mood for Asian food but I quickly changed my tune. It was some of the best vegan food I’ve had. I highly recommend the mushu rolls (I was obsessed) and the blueberry cheesecake (the best I’ve ever had, maybe non-vegan included!!), it’s so light and fluffy. They also do a great chowfun and Vietnamese pancake. The pho was decent but nothing on vegan pho in Sydney (Golden Lotus).

I like big buns and I cannot lie

I discovered Golden Era Vegan on GrubHub and became addicted to their giant fluffy steamed buns. Everything is delicious! I’ve tried a lot of their menu items, spring rolls, chow fun, and my favorite sweet potato curry. Check out my full review with lots of yummy photos on my blog: https://thatjenngirl.com/blog/1706/vegan-in-the-city-golden-era-vegan

Pros: No reservation required

Cons: Shady Neighborhood

Steamed buns!

We had a variety of items at this spot. But we fell in love with the steamed buns! We talk about them all the time and have yet to find an east coast vegan restaurant that has anything close!

Gluten-free & Organic Options

Large, busy, relaxed vegan restaurant with a large menu of Asian meals. Not everything is organic, but the things that matter to health-conscious vegans are: tofu, berries, salad leaves etc. Gluten-free options are clearly marked and the service was good. I had GF raw vegetable rolls to start, followed by a Thai vegetable red curry (GF) with organic brown rice. Loads of veggies in it - cauliflower, cabbage, celery, squash, broccoli and all cooked al-dente, not boiled to a mush. My family enjoyed wonton, fried spring rolls, sweet and sour fried tofu, Indian spiced tofu with veg, Oreo cake etc - you can eat more cleanly or enjoy fried vegan food, the choice is yours - a really good all rounder. I also had an really delicious organic blueberry and banana smoothie. The only downside was the location in the Tenderloin district, a rather rough area at 8pm in the evening - I wouldn’t venture there alone...😄 But don’t be put off by it - we almost turned back, but glad we braved the walk.

Pros: Eat as cleanly or indulgently as you choose, Organic tofu, greens, berries etc, Gluten-free options clearly marked

Cons: Location a little scary...

First meal in SF.

What a great welcoming to a great city!

We loved our appetizers and meals.

I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken that came with Soy protein, celery, onion, zucchini, peanuts, bell peppers sauteed in spicy kung pao sauce.

Everything was great!

Good Chinese

My daughter and I ate dinner here while visiting in San Francisco after reading about it here at Happy Cow. We had a very good and filling meal. They seated us quickly and took our order promptly. And the food arrived quickly. It was a little slower getting the check at the end. There was a large variety of choices on the menu. I enjoyed my broccoli dish. It's a nice place in a sort of sketchy neighborhood but a good place for dinner.

Pros: All vegan choices, Great vareity, NIce atmsophere

Cons: Sketchy neighborhood

We had excellent food and take-away cake. Would recommend!
The surrounding neighborhood was a bit surprising to us as tourists but I guess that's what happens if you don't know a city very well.

Pros: CAKE

great vegan food!

Great restaurant with a variety of Asian foods! Everything is vegan on the menu giving an abundance of choices which vegans don't usually get so that was really nice. The restaurant is really big and very nice on the inside. The dessert menu looked amazing as well but we were too full to order any because of the large dinner portions. Very affordable as well! Huge thumbs up!

Pros: lots of vegan options , affordable

Cons: in a rougher part of town, but still central

Diamond in the Rough, Very Rough

My wife and I sought out this restaurant at lunch time based on the reviews. We had to walk through several blocks of dirty streets full of people either sleeping on the sidewalk or playing loud music and harassing people as we walked by.

Once inside, we enjoyed our food. I had the fried rice with seaweed and my wife had the tomato based soup with imitation shrimp. The restaurant itself is clean and comfortable. The service was very good. The food was tasty. No complaints there. I would give the place 4 or 5 starts if not for the location.

After we finished, while my wife used the restroom, I watched the people passing by the front window. One man stopped, put down a plastic tray he was carrying, and began smoking from a glass pipe. He was breaking bad on the sidewalk clear as day. We never felt unsafe, so I don't want to deter anyone from enjoying this restaurant, but this was our experience on a Friday at lunch time.

Pros: the food and service

Cons: the location

Great food

Great food, the meatier stuff was excellent and well seasoned. The staff was fantastic and the moderate price was really much lower than the high quality of the food. Would recommend.

amazing.

I went to Golden Era on my las trip to San Francisco, I ate there a few times during my stay. The chicken and beef dishes are amazing, spring rolls delicious. I honestly don't think you can go wrong ordering anything on that menu. 100% vegan plant based menu. 100% awesome. I will be back.

Pros: everything is vegan It's the most wonderful place

Cons: there are no cons the atmosphere staff everything
