10 course fine dining experience - Edit
Being vegan I have always envied an experience like this. I am so glad to have had this experience. The non-alcoholic pairings were fantastic. Even though the portions are small, it is such an abundance of food, pace yourself.

So many great dishes - Edit
Many of the dishes on the small tasting menu were truly excellent, but a few fell short especially compared to other vegan tasting menus I've had where everything was delicious. Also, the meal ended with a ladyfinger that was just plain bad and that just sticks out in my mind as the main memory despite many excellent dishes. Overall, it was good but not great

Hands down, the best meal I’ve ever eaten. Had the Grand Diner in May 2024. Though it’s expensive, you receive many courses and the quality is amazing.

A Michelin Starred Dining Experience - Edit
To my knowledge this is the only Michelin Starred Vegan restaurant in London and it very much shows.
Read moreFrom the atmosphere to the service to the quality of the food, this place knocks it all out of the park.
Phenomenal food and the waiters are very knowledgeable about wine pairings and the delicacies you are eating.
My only warning would be price; but as you are in a Michelin restaurant that's a given, and well worth it for not only the food but the experience.
Pros: Food is Exquisite, Venue is Beautiful , Service is Flawless
Cons: Price high, to be expected.

Lovely evening - Edit
I got to try their fall menu and the non-alcoholic drink pairing. My waitress said it was the first night of the non-alcoholic drink menu. I loved the nettle syrup drink, the horseradish ice cream, the popover-esque pastry, and the squash and mushroom dish the best. I found the main dish of black pudding and potatoes to be a little underwhelming. The service was excellent. The decor including the flowers was very nice. And the other guests were fun to talk to a bit. I've been lucky to go to a number of these vegan tasting restaurants in other cities - I was expecting this one to be one of the best but for me, it was average compared to its direct competitors.

Disappointing - Edit
I really wanted to love this place, in fact it was one of the restaurants I was most excited about on our trip to London. At nearly $300 for 2 people, I expected to really be blown away. We were given 10 tiny courses. Of the 10, 2-3 were very good, 2 were absolutely disgusting, and the rest were boring and completely forgettable. I also personally did not enjoy the fact that the dishes were brought out once every 15 minutes. It took hours to get through the meal, and when each course is bite size, the lag between them was just too long.

Dinner of my dreams - Edit
When we arrived at the unassuming building housing Gauthier Soho, I couldn't help but think, "this place doesn't look so fancy." You have to ring the buzzer to be let in. The maître d' takes your coat and leads you to your table, and this is where you notice the French-inspired decor. The linens, tableware, glassware, etc. are quite nice. We had the "grand dîner", which is the larger of the two dinner options; basically a ten-course tasting menu.
Read moreThe service was incredibly attentive. We got to speak with our host a little and asked if they had served anybody famous recently. He said Anya Taylor-Joy had eaten there.
I'll let the photos speak for the food. If you have the means and opportunity to eat at Gauthier Soho, I highly recommend it. Dinner for two, a cocktail and a glass of wine cost us over $500; this is probably a stretch for most people, including myself, but we were celebrating our 20th anniversary and it was well worth it.
Pros: Lovely ambiance, Imaginative flavour combinations
Cons: So expensive!, Menu can be a bit confusing

Not blown away - Edit
We had the 8 course meal but it didn't blow us away.
Read morePros:
- reasonable price at 95 gbp
- very good service
- sophisticated French vegan cuisine - you don't see that every day!
- some interesting soft drinks
Cons:
- decor is...nothing? It takes away from the experience when no effort has been put into decorating the space. It's an unfurnished middle class British house.
- the food was creative in that it's French vegan food, but not subtle, delicious, refined etc which is what you want from a Michelin meal
- 8 courses plus some freebies is just too long and too much for me. But that could just be me.

Best upscale vegan restaurant - Edit
Although the location is decidedly formal and not cheap, the food is definitely worth the price. They were able to alter the set menu to accommodate my dislike of certain ingredients. The staff are dressed up but my dining partner and I didn’t feel out of place dressed casually. And the food was absolutely delicious.

Fantastic vegan tasting menu - Edit
I enjoyed the fantastic grand menu this July with my partner and it was really really incredible. Lovely fresh summer flavours and a great balance of dishes with innovative alternatives to animal products as well as vegetable focused dishes. We also enjoyed some cocktails to start and the wine pairing with the meal. Great range of interesting wines which were beautifully and thoughtfully presented. I’d urge anyone looking for a special occasion spot to dine here.

Summer menu - Edit
What an amazing experience!
Read moreEverything was impeccable from the flavours in the food to the incredible service.
The summer menu is very fresh, colourful and centered on real vegetables using their magnificent flavours creating pieces of culinary art. Every dish was an journey of taste, very well matched with the wine paring too.
We started with Aperol spritz, which was also really good (said by 2 Italians ;))
Is hard to pick a favourite dish but definitely the agnolotti and the BBQ maitake stand out.
The staff is very kind and attentive, welcoming us with a warm smile from the door to our table, explaining every dish and every wine with passion and professionalism.
Highly recommend this culinary experience!

Every time a feast - Edit
For the third time - and never disappointed. The cuisine is clearly top notch and one realizes where the cook has learned his skill. Subtle and ingenious, French base and influenced by Asia and other regions. Definitely deserving my three stars! And due to the changing menues, worth a London trip per season.

The sheer effort and professionalism that goes into what they offer. Nobody in the UK is doing plant-based at a higher level of skill. Too many moments of 'gushing' over the food to mention. We always save up and go for the tasting menu.

Immersive experience - Edit
This was a real treat. We had the early menu. I thought it was expensive but there were more items than I had expected. I was sure I had read 5 courses but including the canapés and sweet treats with the bill I’m sure it was closer to 10 items and therefore decent value considering the number of staff, location etc. I couldn’t bring myself to spend nearly double by having wine pairings although that would have been lovely and even a glass of wine was so dear that I stuck to water. Having said that, the flavours were so strong and amazing I think that tap water between courses was probably spot on for the gastronomic experience. The timing was perfect. Not too long between courses as we had a performance to get to but never rushed either. Glad I went. Might try larger menu or wine pairings in the future now I know what to expect.

Average & overpriced - Edit
I'd been excited to visit Gauthier for a long time but was left disappointed after the 5 course early evening menu. The portions were tiny, and I know vegan can be about showcasing good veg but I was expecting a bit more excitement, interesting or different ingredients, and at least some decent protein somewhere. This was all lacking. A course of 2 pieces of asparagus was a bit of a joke, and the desserts were minute, a 5p size circle of sorbet and a single strawberry cut into 4. Felt very overpriced and this was sadly our worst vegan meal we had all weekend.
