Vegan Cheese - Enough Said - Edit
What a find (thanks to Happy Cow!) during my few hours in Portland. Delicious Macaroni & Cheese and nice salad options. I only wish Vtopia had been around when I lived in the area a few years back! Outdoor seating as well as nice ambiance inside. Thank you!!

I keep taking non-vegans here to test if this place is as amazing as I think it is, or if I’ve just been a vegan so long I’ve forgotten what cheese tastes like. It’s agreed- vegan or not, this place is amazing!!! They have little mini grilled cheese sandwiches you can dip in marinara... Mac and cheese.... Cesar salad... potato cheese soup... Do yourself a favor and go!

It was a real treat to get a cheese, pesto, and tomato sandwich on gluten-free/vegan bread. The service was really good and the small dining room comfortable except for the temperature. The day we were there was super hot and the air conditioner could not keep up. It is a nice place to go if you need a cheese fix that can be satisfied by a good ole sandwich.

Best Vegan Mac'n'Cheese ever! - Edit
This place is a little slice of heaven. The cheese alchemist is an absolute genius. The owner and all the staff are super friendly. I absolutely love the almond based (Butter) substitute, and every single cheese available. I highly recommend adding pesto and shitake bacon to your mac and cheese bowl. Namaste

I’ve gotten sandwiches to-go twice from here, and each time I was impressed. The BLShiiiit was amazing!! The dehydrated mushrooms were incomparable to anything I’ve ever tasted. Also, my vegan friends mistook the vegan cheese for cow’s milk cheese! Just taking off a star for the pricey-ness.

disappointed in our last visit - Edit
The food is always very excellent, however. Our last visit was particularly busy. My family and I were waiting in line and the manager told us to sit at a table if we were dining in. Mind you, there were no tables available and the one becoming available had to be cleaned. His reason for telling us that was because too many people make him “anxious” I couldn’t believe it. Why are you in the restaurant business then?? That’s just the beginning of this nightmare of an experience. Upon ordering, that same guy, made it especially difficult when ordering and ultimately gave us the wrong thing. Didn’t even write our order down or anything and went specifically on memory. We waited 20 minutes for 2 drinks that didn’t even need to be made. They just needed to be poured, and no surprise, he forgot the drink I ordered. To which I waited 25 minutes for. The food finally arrived and was cold on the outside, but hot inside. (Thankfully) There were no napkins, or silverware to eat with. They finally brought us some after our food had been sitting on our table for about 5 minutes. People that had ordered after us were getting served before us. This particular visit was the most backwards dining experience we had ever had here. Normally, the staff is exceptionally friendly but this particular guy was the absolute WORST! Sadly, we will not be coming back here due to this unprofessional experience.

This is the first place I'm going back to next time I'm in Portland. Got the sample cheese platter and a sandwich. Honestly took forever to deicide what to get because everything looked AMAZING and I'm sure it was. Best food out of Portland in my opinion. Would absolutely recommend to anyone visiting the city.

I had the Mac and cheese and buffalo Berry sandwich. It was so yummy! The best vegan cheese I’ve ever had. The ingredients were delicious and tasted fresh. I will definitely come back here! They also have vegan butter and vegan cheese you can buy and take home.

My family and I had lunch here while stopping by Portland. I have to say that this place has the best vegan food I've had in a long time! I had the Mac n cheese (I recommend getting extra bacon!) and it was warm, comforting, and cheesy. It was easily the best vegan mac n cheese I've had. Make sure to get the cup size though, because the bowl size is very large. I also had a Caesar salad, and it was AWESOME, one of the most flavorful things I've ever tasted!! Their bacon is heavenly, and so is their Caesar dressing. I ended with the chocolate cake, which was very rich and yummy. However, it had more of a cheesecake consistency instead of the bready consistency that my parents were expecting, but I liked the uniqueness. My parents also said that it could do with more sugar. So why the four stars? Although my order was amazing, my family had some criticism. The cheesy baguette was really bland, the aged cheddar needs more flavor and less sourness, they need more bread options, and the chana masala was just ok.

First visit: Because it was the end of the week, the pickings were pretty slim on what they had left, but I was okay with the options I had. I did taste their available cheese and took home two blocks and they're amazing! I got the smoked gouda and also pepper corn. The woman who was helping us was a little rude.
Read moreSecond visit: This time we came and we're actually able to sit down for a whole meal at Vtopia. It was their second day trying out their brand new brunch menu, so the wait time was long, like over an hour. So that sucked, but they were extremely nice while we were waiting and brought us free snacks to keep us happy! The food was great and there was plenty to eat! I suggest getting a cheese sampler to try out the different selections, but it is a little expensive, so be sure to ask about pricing beforehand!

Best Vegan Food I’ve Ever Had - Edit
I got a happy cow account just to rate this place. I was here for a cross country meet and my vegan team member and I ordered in from postmates. We loved the fancy Mac and cheese, Reuben, and goat cheese platter. This place is a must for anyone, vegan or otherwise. Even our non vegan friends were impressed!!
