My favorite restaurant of all time - Edit
Their buffalo tempeh bites are MY FAVORITE!! I love this restaurant. It’s a hidden spot inside a weird building of restaurants and shops. They have lots of vegan options and even some WFPBNO desserts. Their vegan dipping sauce they serve with the buffalo tempeh is also to die for. I come here every time we visit Tahoe.

Great Stir Fry with Peanut Sauce - Edit
I have been here four times and have ordered the Peanut Butter Chocolate Mousse Pie each time. During my last visit, I ordered the Vegetable Stir Fry with Tofu, Tempeh, and Spicy Peanut Sauce. I told myself that I'd save half for later, but the meal was so good, I ate the whole thing. The tofu and tempeh weren't too soft or too hard, and they tasted like little pillows of cornbread. (I'm told there wasn't any corn in the meal, but my taste buds and memory still recalled the delicious vegan cornbread that I once made from a recipe at Bakerita.com.) I enjoyed the flavor with the vegetables and spicy peanut sauce that wasn't too spicy. I'd rate the sauce a 5 or 6 out of ten, if ten is very hot. Of course, the dessert was amazing. I have tasted the sweet potato-quinoa cakes twice, but have yet to order them. I recommend them!

Large choice - Edit
Many veg*n options in this hawaian restaurant: almost all dishes can be made vegan. It is flavorful and proposes unexpected associations sometimes. Always good, not always mind blowing though.

Everything is great - Edit
I have one problem with this place. Normally when I go to an omni restaurant I can decide what I want right away. That’s because there’s normally only one or two options. Not here. Dang near everything on this menu can be made vegan with tofu or tempeh. They even keep separate fryers for meat, seafood, and veggies. I have never had a bad dish here, everything is so good and so fresh you can’t go wrong. Wife and I split the chocolate peanut butter pie (which is WFPBNO, by the way). It was so creamy smooth and decadent it was amazing. It was also so rich that I’m not sure I could have ate it all by myself. Go here, it’s so worth it. If it’s a nice day, sit on the roof top patio. Oh yeah, they have Pliny the Elder on tap too.

Flavorful - Edit
There’s so many vegan options! Vegan options clearly labeled. They may not be a vegan restaurant but they sure do know how to cook delicious tofu and tempeh! They also serve large, very filling portions.

Very good-tons of vegan stuff - Edit
Had a nice meal here. There are a lot of vegan options from stir fry to veggie burger to curry to tacos. I had stir fry which was very tasty but I was a little disappointed the veggies were finely chopped cabbage, carrot, and celery. I was expecting big chunks of carrot, broccoli, mushroom etc. Still good though and I was satisfied.

Great Lunch! - Edit
A small restaurant with great food. I loved that any meal could be made vegetarian at the very least and often vegan. We had the noodle bowl pho style. It was very filling, very good and very spicy.

Great for veg & omni's - Edit
I went for dinner with my omnivore family. When I asked what was their most popular vegan items, I was told that pretty much everything on the menu could be made vegan. When does that ever happen?! I chose a red curry and it was delicious! Other family members ordered ribs and scampi, which they loved. Another big hit was their Butterfinger Ice Cream pie, which was definitely not vegan. Basically, this is a great place that everybody can enjoy!

Chocolate Peanut Pie - Edit
Many reviews have touched on the variousvegan options (& Pliny the Elder on tap) so I'll glaze over those BUT the best surprise on the menu was a vegan dessert option that you wouldn't even know was vegan (see pic)

Freshies is great! - Edit
I'm a local and eat here often. So many vegan options and more added with each season and menu update.. Salads like the crunch, tacos with tempeh, tofu or portabello, curries, noodles soups, and even a loaf with gravy. Check them out a cool local vibe.
Read moreGreat craft beer selection too. Pliny is usually on tap.

a lot of great vegan options - Edit
Wow, was pleasantly surprised at the number of vegan options. They have tofu, tempe and Portabella mushrooms to sub for meat in a lot of dishes. We had the Tempe buffalo wings, tofu tacos (taco sauce is now vegan) and the mans plate- all delicious!

Tasty Tacos - Edit
Had the tofu tacos here which were super tasty and surprisingly filling. I also shared the East Indian Spinach Salad which was a winner! Had great views of the lake from the deck and sundown. Server was also friendly which was a bonus.

Great Vegan Options - Edit
Everything I've had here is great. My favorite is the Indian Spinach Salad with tofu, pickled onions and lots of other good things. The blackened tofu tacos are delicious too, but the sauce isn't vegan.

Pricey but good vegan options, super friendly - Edit
Not cheap, but super friendly, with solid options for vegans that aren't simply afterthoughts. The space is intentionally kitschy in a cute way. Located in the interior of an oddly charmless strip mall (that reminds me a lot of Southeast Alaska.) Easy parking outside.
Read moreI've been half a dozen times, and while it's slightly spendy food targeted at visiting skiers & snowboarders, with entrees in the $12-$18 range, I've left happy each time.
Even without all of the exacting social values of Simple Bliss, at about the same prices, it's at least as fulfilling food. And they are great with recycling, and solid with socially responsible product sourcing.
Pros: solid vegan options, super friendly, tasty
Cons: expensive

Freshies is refreshing - Edit
While at South Lake Tahoe recently, a friend of mine and I ate at Freshies. I was pleasantly surprised since their vegan options are out of this world. Their quinoa cakes tasted really good and the salad selection was outstanding as well. The restaurant has a Hawaiian theme (I guess that's why they are serve pork - not so good). The service was friendly and attentive. I can recommend this restaurant to vegans/vegetarians.

The food is decent, the location is terrible.

Smart, flavorful, great service. - Edit
Not fully vegetarian, but very sensitive and knowledgeable. Very creative and tasty, flavorful items. Small, intimate dining room, with great service. Probably the best choice in the kitschy South Lake Tahoe area.

Good Food, Friendly Staff - Edit
I second the reviews of others who have said the staff at Freshies knows what is up. The salad I ordered was fresh (great tomatoes!) and healthy.
Read moreThe wait staff also knew how to handle gluten free with no problem...a woman at a neighboring table inquired about their options and the waitress answered her questions knowledgeably. Their french fries (yams, sweet potatoes, and potatoes) are made with rice flour.
The inside is a bit cramped...definitely try the patio (great view).
My only complaint is that a good deal of their menu appeared to be fried and drenched in sauces...I got my salad without dressing. Not the best for vegans.
Pros: organic, gluten-free options, great staff
Cons: lots of fried food
