Heerlijk gegeten, toffe sfeer, lieve bediening. Door donkere meubels en decoratie/verlichting warme uitstraling. Veel keuze op het menu en erg lekker gegeten. Een opvallend en voor mij nadelig punt is de hoeveelheid gasten die er met een overduidelijk fake of aangedikt Engels accent Nederlands spraken. Het was karikaturistisch. Sowieso wordt er door de gasten opvallend hard gesproken.

Expensive but Good - Edit
We visited several times. The first time we got the Beyond Burger and a lunch combo with mango salad. It was tasty. The second time we got the meal of the day (stuffed champignons, grilled paprika and couscous) and the kapsalon. Again, tasty. The third time we had kapsalon again and the quiche. Both good, but not served as warm as they should.
Read moreDue to the high prices our expectations were not entirely met and we were always a bit disappointed. The dishes are good yet too expensive for what you get. Service can be rather slow despite few guests.
However, the chocolate milk shake is outstanding. It might be even worth the 8€.

We waren met vier personen in de buurt van Tilburg, en zijn verrast door ons heerlijke diner bij de Focus Foodbar. We hebben samen veel verschillende gerechten kunnen uitproberen, en het was allemaal erg lekker. Het personeel was heel vriendelijk.

Update May 2024: our 6th dinner here, this time a 3-course menu consisting of a polenta starter, a great kidney bean burger main with sweet potato fries, and another wonderful crème brulée for dessert.
Read moreI had a creative impression of a moussaka, which didn't look like moussaka but the taste was spot on. My partner had the risotto croquettes. For dessert we had a mango crème brulee which was excellent as well. We will be back soon!

Expensive and disappointing - Edit
As a vegan I always want to support vegan places but this one is a ripoff. I had the soup of the day which was tiny and very watery. It was supposed to be carrot/coconut/ginger but really didn't taste of anything. It cost 7 euros and didn't even come with a slice of bread - I asked for some and was charged another 7 euros!
Read moreI was with 7 other people who seemed to find their food ok. As we wanted to leave we wanted to each pay for our own stuff. Impossible! they offered us to split the bill in half, and I'm still not sure how that was going to help.
Anyway, really disappointed, especially at the idea that non-vegans might think that vegan food is bland and over-expensive, and that you leave hungry :/

I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with us.
Usually when things like this happen, we are more than willing to take care of it. So next time it would be more helpfull to say it right away, because now there is nothing that we can do.
Your table got 2 plates with bread, homemade cream cheese and tapende (after we asked if you wanted that), is it that strange that that costs money?
Then again; if you told us...
And the paying part has everything to do with roadburn festival because is was super, super busy and we just didn't have time for 7 people to pay separately.
It seems a bit unfair to complain about this when the guy who paid didn't mind at all.
So next time that you wanna be supportive to a vegan restaurant, you should tell it right away so they can fix it.

Had an amazing dinner here. Service was very kind but sometimes a little slow. Food was delicious, wish I had space left to try their milkshakes but I will have to come back next time.

Mijn vriend en ik hebben dit jaar kerstavond doorgebracht bij Focus Foodbar. Het menu trok ons over de streep, door de sterke kerst-vibe.
Read moreWij kozen voor een alcoholvrije avond. Ik had wat alcoholvrije biertjes, en als aperitief een mocktail. Deze werd gevolgd door een amuse waarvan ik de ingrediënten inmiddels niet meer scherp heb, dus ik houd het erop dat het ons goed smaakte.
De eerste gang was caprese van coeur de boeuf, met daarbij huisgemaakte mozzarella van macadamia-noten. Ik vind dierlijke mozzarella en de meeste vervangers erg onappetijtelijk, maar door de wat notige smaak en structuur vond ik deze, zeker in combinatie met de smaakvolle tomaat, geurige basilicum, pijnboompitjes en dressing heel goed passen.
Voor de tweede gang waren er twee keuzes, wij gingen voor de knolselderijsoep met gebakken paddestoelenmelange en miso-truffelpesto. Ik vond dit een waar smakenfestijn, echt heerlijk. Het was wel een groot bord, waardoor ik na deze gang al bijna vol zat... De gastvrouw vertelde ons dat dit snel weg zou zakken omdat het immers van groenten is gemaakt, maar dat klopte toch niet helemaal. ;-)
Als derde gang ging ik voor de rucola-bietensalade met carpaccio van appel, rozijnen, walnoten en yuzu-limoendressing. Dat was heel prima, lekker fris en aards van smaak. Mijn vriend was voor de frisse wintersalade gegaan, wat hem ook goed smaakte maar wel ook weer een erg vol bord was.
Het hoofdgerecht was voor mij ook echt het hoogtepunt, door de heerlijke roast van kikkererwten en amandel (dat klonk wat droog, maar zo smaakte het zeker niet) met cranberry-compôte, een yummy zoete aardappel-pompoenpuree met rode wijn-jus die daar heerlijk bij smaakte, en gepofte cherrytomaat en geroosterde spruitjes. Super! Mijn vriend had het andere gerecht gekozen, wat naar mijn smaak wel zeer veel grote stukken groente bevatte, maar waar ik verder weinig over kan zeggen.
Het nagerecht was spannend: gingerbread cake met masala chai-botercrème, gochugaru-sinaasappel sorbet - dat zou geniaal kunnen zijn óf helemaal de plank misslaan. Het was geniaal! De cake en de crème waren hemels, het sorbetijs zorgde voor het frisje dat niet mocht ontbreken. De pittige nasmaak van het ijs was even wennen maar paste eigenlijk wel bij de kruidige cake.
Mijn vriend had ook nog een mylkshake besteld, daarvan wist ik al hoe heerlijk die zijn!
Tenslotte: de bediening was zeer vriendelijk en het restaurant was sfeervol (ook door de kerstmuziek die een passend volume had).
Genoten!

We had dinner twice here. It was easy to make online reservations.
Read moreThe portions were large and delicious. They had some food mild options for children, which were healthier and not just the usual fast food fare.
We were able to request small modifications. Because the dishes were freshly prepared, these requests were all met.
The tofu and salad options were exquisite, as was the tempeh burger.
The mylkshakes were lovely too.
The staff were very accommodating with our second visit when we arrived later than planned and had limited time to order before the kitchen closed.
The price for our meals was not cheap. But ultimately it was good value for money, because the portions were large and none of the dishes were a let-down.
Access by car is a bit tricky. We had to park some distance away, because the area around the restaurant/foodbar is pedestrianised. However, with some advance planning this is no problem. On our second visit we parked in a nearby car park and walked 10 minutes which was not too bad.
I highly recommend Focus Foodbar if you are in the area (e.g. near Efteling) or passing through. You will not be disappointed.

Excellent plant based restaurant - Edit
Focus Foodbar is the only completely plant-based restaurant in town and has really improved their menu over the past few years. They offer a wide variety of choices, from the obligatory Beyond burger to more original and imaginative dishes. All very delicious. Excellent!!

Yummy, wat een lekker tentje. We hebben er heerlijk geluncht en later op de dag nog een groot stuk chocoladetaart gegeten. De bediening was buitengewoon vriendelijk. Echte aanrader dit restaurantje!

Best mylkshakes in NL - Edit
This restaurant is quite large and cosy with a spacious terrace. The staff is very nice as well.
Read moreI think they have the best mylkshakes in NL now that Deer mama has closed. I tried the peanutbutter and the hazelnut/brownie ones and both were really tasty and creamy. However, they regularly don’t have the banana split mylkshake because they seem to be out of bananas quickly.
I also enjoyed the tempeh burger (on a brown brioche bun) and the vegetable quiche (with chickpea flower). Their blueberry/lemon pie is good as well, but the consistency is on the firm side. You can get it with whipped cream.

Lovely variety on the menu, selection of starters and mains. Had the beyond burger with fries (18,5€), tempehmendoan (a starter, 11,5€) and twisted fries (a side 5,5€) - 'as my main'.
If I would have taken the tempehmendoan as a real 'starter' that would have been way too much! More that enough portion for me.
Nice food. The twisted fries were rather greasy.
Nice space, nicely decorated. Very friendly service. Also karge outside seating (but Winter and snowing!)
Entrance is accessible. Didnt see an accessible toilet. Toilets were clean, but a wet towel to dry one's hands kills it for me. Please provide napkins or individual towels 😊
