Yummy but expensive - Edit
We stopped by here for a late breakfast. We had coffee, smoothies and meals. This is the only place in Costa Rica where we found smoothies with vegan protein, which was great! But the prices were also quite high. For the two of us, it cost 30,000 colones (about $75 CAD). This was a bit much for the small portions.

We had the breakfast burrito and el tico. Both were amazing. The cashew cream and mayo are so good. Also ordered the croquettas. Very good but could’ve used some more seasoning. Will definitely go again before leaving tamarindo.

Read moreWe ordered the Yuca balls as an appetizer and they got us excited for the meal. Crispy, savory and delicious. I could tell by the level of detail our meal would be good.
The first entree that came to the table were the cauliflower tacos which to my partners delight were “cartoonishly large” and also very savory with a slight spice. I had the Chori Pan which was more on the spicy side but the herb sauce really cooled things down. I will say comparatively the Chori Pan was a bit greasier, but being on vacation I didn’t care.
We went back another time and I had the cauliflower tacos and my partner had a curry dish. The curry dish was our least favorite but it was still good, good stands out when everything else is excellent.
Pros: Vegan Dining Very Close to Beach, Friendly Staff
Cons: I wish I was closer to this place

Lovely little vegan restaurant right across the street from the beach! I came 3 times during my time in Tamarindo and tried the breakfast burrito, smoothies, the Caesar salad and an appetizer. The prices are pretty high but everything was filling and the ladies working there were very sweet.

Went for lunch today after spotting this cute little place on a wander round Tamarindo. We had the tapas - tofu nuggets, bruschetta, yucca balls and the highlight… buffalo cauliflower wings.

I specifically came here because I saw that they have a vegan Choripan on the menu. I was not disappointed! I loved the vegan chorizo and the sauce (Chimichurri) was absolutely delicious. My friend had the Curry and also liked it a lot.

Flora Vegan Cafe serves such delicious, healthy, and nutrient rich food that will bring life into your body! I ordered the Sunshine Bowl and it was so refreshing after a long morning under the sun. Next time I go back, I will have to try the Breakfast Burrito because it sounds very fulfilling! The space was specially curated to offer a clean and fun vibe, so it is enjoyable to sit and relax! Also, the ones who come together to work and make this place function have such good spirits! So grateful to discover this little slice of Heaven!

The venue was quiet and super friendly that sits close to the beach. The food was excellent. I had the portobello sandwich and my SO had ceviche after great appetizers which included hummus and a Spanish tortilla. We are topping it off with a cashew cheesecake!! Must repeat soon.

A culinary dream in vegan cuisine - Edit
The food at flora is some of the best vegan food I have ever eaten. I came with a group and we tried SO much of the menu. The cauliflower tacos and the choripán were my favorite. As a chef, they understand the balance of flavor, texture and technique. Even the way they plated the spicy vegan sausage cut side down added an element to the dish and mouthfeel that I loved. The vegan nuggets had a perfect crunch, spice and explosion of flavor throughout each bite and the BBQ sauce was mouthwatering. The last few bites I had were of the breakfast burrito. Unlike typical burritos, they grill theirs so that you get the crunch of the tortilla to complement the tofu scramble, potatoes and house vegan mayonnaise (that I would drink if I could). You HAVE to go!!

Great 100% vegan spot by the beach! Casual vibe and super friendly staff! We ate here several times during our stay. ALL of the food is delicious. We tried the breakfast burrito, the tipo breakfast, the sunshine bowl, the savory bagel….and for dinner the cauliflower tacos and the portobello sandwich. We took passion fruit cheesecake and Oreo cheesecake to go…both were great. The coffee was also good. Don’t miss this place if traveling to tamarindo!

Great little place by the beach - Edit
It is the only fully vegan place we tried in the area. It is conveniently tucked away on the main road right across from the beach. Waddle right in, wash off your feet, get a table and take in the decor. Everything on the menu was great(Howler monkey smoothie, Yellow Iris smoothie, green curry, ceviche, cauliflower tacos, El Tico breakfast, cheesecake). We were back twice and haven't exhausted the menu. There were plenty of dishes to try. We especially appreciated El Tico breakfast tacos with an exquisite tofu scramble. We will certainly be back next time in Tamarindo!!

Excellent breakfast & lunch cafe - Edit
We had breakfast and dinner at this wonderful little cafe. It’s 100% plant-based and 100% delicious. We stayed at VRBO Sunrise condos almost next door, and this was so convenient. I wish they were open a little later for dinner because some of day trips were longer than the hours they were open. We would have eaten here every day otherwise!

The best vegan food ever!! - Edit
This place is a little piece of heaven in Tamarindo. There are so many wonderful options that it is even difficult to choose the best one. There are breakfast, lunch and snack options available throughout the day. I tried different dishes and I can say that they were all worth it. My favorites were: Cauliflower Taco, Ceviche and the Chori Pan and Portobello sandwiches. Finally, the place is super nice and we were super well attended by the very friendly staff! Hoping to come back soon.
