Amazing

The food was delicious, you need at least 5 dishes to satisfy a table of 2. I felt like I could order anything from the menu and I would enjoy it. I liked everything but the Rutabaga Fondue and Spicy Dan Dan Noodles were my favorite. The atmosphere was great as well as the staff. This will be my new regular dining restaurant.

Pros: Creative menu , Everything is flavorful , Quiet and Quaint

Cons: Expensive , Small portions

Out Favorite Restaurant

We ate here during our visit to DC and it did not disappoint. The food comes out in stages, so just as you finish one plate, the next one arrives. It’s very nice inside and the place was packed so make reservations.

Pros: Great food

THIS FOOD. OM nom nom

TL;DR- Loved it! Delicious food and all plant-based. I went here with a date (non-vegan) and he loved the food, too. It's on the edge of $$ and $$$. It's kind of like a tapas bar in that they have a bunch of small plates and you order multiple for your meal. They recommend 3 per person, which works out to be at ~$45 for your main meal per person. If you want drinks and dessert that will be more.
Neither of us were very hungry, so we only ordered 3 plates, 2 drinks and 2 desserts between us.
> Rutabaga Fondue: 4/5. They served us pretzel bread with the fondue and a mixture of pickled veggies. The flavor of the fondue is somewhat cheezy, but it's very much a plant-based cheese. It doesn't imitate the flavor or texture of real cheese much. Even so, it was still tasty, but nothing to rave about.
> Peruvian Potatoes: 5/5. This was my favorite dish of the evening and was recommended to me by the waitress. I can see why it's popular! The sauce is absolutely delicious. There's a kick, but I highly recommend if you can handle spicy dishes. I have a high spice tolerance the spice level was medium-high for me.
> Spicy Dan Dan Noodles: 5/5. Another popular dish recommended by the waitress. Not as good as the peruvian potatoes, but still spot on and memorable. The noodles had a great bite, the sauce was spicy (but in an Asian way). Around the same level of spice (maybe a little less) than the Peruvian potatoes)
> Staycation: 4/5. A surprising combination of coffee, coconut and pineapple. The sweetness of the coconut and was toned down by the coffee. I was concerned about the caffeine, but it didn't have a strong (or any?) effect on me.
> Woodmaze cocktail: ?/5 My date's drink. Very bourbon-y and served in an English china teacup. I tasted it and had a strong bourbon taste yet was mellowed out by the other flavors added.
> Blueberry Tart: 5/5. This was my dessert. I really enjoyed the refreshing combination of the lemon, blueberries and frangipane. The poppy seed ice cream was meh, but I didn't mind because I loved the tart so much. I'm glad it wasn't overly sweet. The fresh blueberries and lemon curd cut through the sweetness of the dish nicely.
> Peaches and Cream: 4/5. The flavors here were great. It was almost like a decomposed peach pie with the hush puppies, peach sorbet and cream. It seemed much less substantial than the blueberry tart, which is why I deducted a star (which is weird, considering that this dessert is is more expensive).

Pros: Flavors are amazing. 100%, Cute atmosphere, Location

Cons: Need reservations

Character and chemistry

This place is pretty great. The radish flight was probably my favorite. The cocktails were cute, but too strong for my liking, though I’m not a big drinker. The atmosphere was fun and light, seating is a bit tight though and if you’re by the door during colder months it’s a bit much. Wait staff is super chill and nice. The menu was eclectic. It’s also bit pricey, but it is DC. Overall, pretty dang good.

Pros: All Vegan

Cons: Smallish space

The finest radish

For our wedding anniversary my husband and I wanted to go to a vegan restaurant with the fine dining experience. We found just that and more at the Fancy Radish. We made reservations before-hand which was recommend. The atmosphere was inviting and intimate. Our server Adam made our experience even better. He was on top of his game, and always came by the table to refill our drinks, etc. We started our meal with the Chioggia Beet Toast which was INCREDIBLE. I could seriously eat just that, it was that good.
We ordered the Spicy Dan Dan Noodles, and the Sunchoke “Ramen” for our main dishes. Both were so delicious. Between each dish they brought us little samplers for our anniversary, which really added a nice touch. For dessert we split the Sticky Toffee Pudding and the Affogato. Again, so delicious. The Affogato was my favorite because it was unique. After my experience, I would order everything if I could. I haven’t stopped talking and craving this place since I left, and it’s only been a day. This place is great for groups too, since it’s a tappas style menu. It is recommend to pick three dishes on their menu. Whether you’re vegan or an omnivore this place won’t disappoint.

Pros: All vegan , Fine dining experience , Rotating menu

Holy wow!!!!!

My husband & I met some friends for dinner at this restaurant, and we were all AMAZED! My husband is vegetarian, I am vegan, & our 2 friends are omnivores. The menu is tapas style, so we ended up ordering nearly every item and sharing them amongst the group. Everything was fantastic! The whole group left raving about how amazing the meal had been. Can’t wait to come back (although my wallet can)! I highly recommend the trumpet mushroom fazzouleti & rutabaga fondue!

Pros: Beautiful, creative, delicious culinary magic

Cons: Expensive

One of the best meals I've e er eaten

The food was amazing! Everything was great, but I am still dreaming of the trumpet mushrooms. The sauce was so good I could have drank it! The Spicy Dan Dan noodles we're really spicy, but had really good flavor. This is definitely our new special occasion spot!

Cons: Expensive so it will just be for celebrations.

Did not disappoint!

As soon as we found out that this place was opened by the same owners of Vedge, which we had fond memories of, we just had to come. We couldn't get a reservation, but managed to get seated right away arriving at five.

We ordered one dish per person from each section as recommended by our waiter and felt like it was the perfect amount of food. Everything was tasty; the two dishes that stood out for me were the trumpet mushroom "fazzoletti" and the seared maitake. Two mushroom dishes you say?! They were actually quite different and absolutely delicious in their own ways. We enjoyed the rutabaga fondue as well, though more for the bread than the actually fondue. That pretzel bread was so good that we put in an extra order just for it! For dessert, we had the sticky toffee pudding and the carrot cake cup. Both were scrumptious.

Beside the food, we were also very impressed with the service. Our waiter was friendly yet professional. Throughout the evening, our water glasses were always quickly refilled.

I'm hard-pressed to find even one thing I didn't like about our meal here. Apparently reservations are hard to come by, so either arrive super early like we did or try your luck at the first-come-first-served bar.

Pros: great food, excellent service

Fantastic upscale vegan

DC finally has what can be considered an upscale all-veg restaurant! Fancy Radish is on H Street NE, a few blocks from Union Station. In its first few months, reservations have been hard to get, but it's definitely worth it when you do get a spot.

If you're looking for analogues, this is not your place. Fancy Radish is all about the vegetables, and they are cooked most creatively. I suggest people start with the rutabaga fondue, a creamy dip with warm, salty pretzel bread. It's incredible. On my first visit in June, I tried the Seared Maitake mushrooms, a simple plate with crispy mushrooms and pureed celery root. On my most recent visit, I tried the trumpet mushrooms with grape tomatoes in a luscious broth. This dish should come with some of that pretzel bread so you can sop up the broth (and when I mentioned that to the server, she very kindly brought us some). We also tried the Heirloom Tomato "BLT", a beautiful open-face sandwich with yellow tomatoes, microgreens, and shiitake mushroom "bacon." It was incredible. The Peruvian Potatoes were a bit too spicy for me, but the texture of the potatoes was perfect. My boyfriend loves the Spicy Dan Dan Noodles. They're very good, with a bit of a kick, but not too spicy.

And then there are the desserts. The Atlantic Beach Cup is a beautiful lemon custard with whipped "cream," raspberry, and crushed saltines, but that's going away because it's a summer item. We tried a lovely new dessert, the S'Mores, with chocolate cake, a marshmallowy ice cream, and pecans.

The service is wonderful, with clean plates brought out after two or three dishes. They also encourage sharing dishes by putting dishes in the center of the table. It's a bit expensive, as everything adds up, but this is an excellent special occasion place.

Pros: all vegan, lovely ambiance, excellent service

Cons: It can be hard to get a reservation, Expensive

Excellent food

This is without question the best high end vegan food in DC. That being said, it’s still DC, not Copenhagen so you’re still getting mostly vegan replacements of meat dishes rather than really innovative menu items. But I’m not complaining. Very reasonably priced for product/service. Service at tables better than bar. Been there 4x

Good, but not mind-blowing

After hearing all the excitement revolving around this place and struggling to get a reservation, I was really expecting something quite extraordinary, and truthfully, this was not the case. The place is nice and casual, though many guests dressed up for dinner. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. Service was the one thing that was actually surprisingly good. Menu consists of 12 dishes in 3 categories based on whether they are starters, appetizers, or mains (at least that was my interpretation). None of the dishes are actually large, though. I think my appetizer (the fondue) was the largest and most filling thing I ordered. In terms of the food, I had the rutabaga fondue, trumpet mushrooms, seared maitake, blueberry tart, and chocolate bar. That’s 5 dishes for 1 small female and I by no means left feeling stuffed. The fondue was actually spectacular. Perfect winey aftertaste and deliciously creamy texture. The pretzel bread that came with it was warm and melted in your mouth. Only thing I would actually return for. So, so good! The trumpet mushrooms were a bit too salty and bland in my opinion. The flavor was good, but I would not describe it as anything more exciting than tasty. It was thinly sliced trumpet mushroom based on some sort of oily sauce. Tasty, but not remarkable. The Maitake had a lovely texture, but it was basically just seared mushrooms brushed with oil and accompanied by some sort of fritter filled with something resembling potato salad. The sauce on the Maitake dish I did not really like, and again, it was a bit too salty. Also, super tiny considering it was the most expensive dish on the menu. Finally, dessert. The blueberry tart was quite tasty, actually, but again, nothing too remarkable. The lemon sauce used to plate the tart was actually amazing. So flavorful! The chocolate bar was like a sort of dense brownie. It’s super rich—almost to the point of bitterness due to how dark their chocolate is. I really liked this! The lavender ice cream that came with it was actually divine, but there was like half a tablespoon of it. Overall, I enjoyed my dinner. It was nice vegan food with a few pleasant surprises. Will I return? Probably not. I don’t think it’s worth the hype or price other than the fondue and maybe dessert

Pros: Great staff, Tasty food, Nice ambiance

Cons: Expensive , Tiny portions, Hard to get a reservation

Wow Wow Wow

This place is the bomb! I've been here twice with my omnivorous husband, and both of us have left wowed and satisfied each time. The menu changes seasonally, so there's always something new to try.
The way it works is that you order 2-3 small plates per person plus dessert if you want it. All of the items we've tried have been good for sharing too. Some of our favorites have been the spicy dan dan noodles, the langos hungarian bread, the seared maitake, the grilled beets, and the fancy radishes. Nice wines and cocktails too.

Pros: All vegan! , Every item on the menu is a winner, Excellent service

Cons: Expensive , Have to get reservations well in advance

Amazing!!!

Our experience was nothing short of amazing. The food flavors, atmosphere, service, and promptness of food all exceeded our expectations. The pretzel and rutabaga fondue is excellent... I wanted to lick the bowl.

Another home run!

I couldn’t get a reservation for this - the newest & hottest of hot vegan spots in Washington, DC. Not easily put off though, I showed up at opening time and snagged a seat at the bar (where they serve a full menu). Just like their sister restaurants in Philadelphia (Vedge, V Street) everything was terrific. The dishes are unusual, creative and perfectly presented. There is a full bar. Sadly, I did not have room for dessert, but I was sorely tempted. Next time I’ll have dessert first!

Pros: 100% Vegan, Haute cuisine, Excellent service

Cons: Noisy

Destination dining

DC has a tough time keeping vegan places for more than a heartbeat... unless a powerful name and brand is behind it. Thank goodness that Rich Landau and Kate Jacoby decided to swoop down from Philly and grace us with their presence- a gift indeed!

So, I am very happy they are here, but, I had hoped it would be more like V Street than Vedge, because I like V Street more. However, that said, all the classy dining you expect from Vedge is dishes up here. It’s a little less fancy though, but the food is the same superb quality.

IF you have dietary restrictions beyond vegan, they can help you. They are super accommodating- even if you are let down by what you can’t have, you can be assured of what you can have is legitimately within your dietary restrictions!

As everyone has said, the stuffed avocado was my fav, too. I’ve never had such a fun and novel approach to the amazing avocado! It’s the pickled cauliflower for me! Also, the dessert that takes rice pudding to a divine level- oh my oh my! Three layers and some crispy adornment of rice atop? Lovely.

Here... mushrooms are a main course and they don’t need a heck of a lot of seasoning, just so well presented and simply but perfectly flavored. I could eat them all day this way!

So... I’ll be back and I know they’ll have some more tasty dishes for me... just beware that it’s a small place, and reservations should be made far in advance unless you like to dine solo and late.

Pros: All vegan, Well informed staff, Lighting

Cons: Uses a lot of soy , Needs more desserts without gluten

Wow.

Everything we ate was incredible. They have a variety of creative dishes that include flavors from different cuisines. Many of them are small plates which are perfect for sharing so you can taste little bits of everything. It’s not like food I have had anywhere else, except their sister restaurants in Philly. I am so happy they have decided to open one here! Keep in mind that is expensive and you will need a reservation, both of which are absolutely worth it.

Super Delicious!

Very excited to try this new (April 2018) vegan up-scale restaurant that is sister with the amazing Vedge restaurant in Philadelphia. Food was amazing, as was service. It is very difficult to get a reservation - particularly for parties of over two. We tried to walk in on one weekend night at 5pm, and were told the night was fully booked. So, plan ahead! We loved the stuffed avocado, fondue, BBQ Tofu, Dan Dan noodles and Peruvian potatoes. So so happy to have this new jewel in DC!

Pros: Delicious local upscale vegan restaurant, Menu items fresh and innovative

Cons: Impossible to get a reservation

The upscale vegan restaurant that DC needed

Creative, upscale vegan cuisine and fantastic service that competes with any other upscale restaurant vegan or non-vegan around. The food is remarkable. I never knew radishes could be so interesting.

Don’t skip the Dan Dan noodles if you like spice!

Pros: delicious food, top notch service

Cons: $$$, you have to order a few plates to be full!
