Best Mac and Cheese

I got the curry chicken with rice, cabbage, and mac and cheese with a double chocolate cake. Honestly everything was absolutely amazing but I was really shocked by the Mac and cheese. The cake was two servings but I made it one lol

Pros: The food is amazing, Dessert options and taste

Cons: Pricey

3rd time was no charm

I forgot this place was still around. It is close to my home so I decided to give it another chance. I should've gone back to College Park to my normal spot. I got the jerk chicken, mac n cheese, and the kale. None of it was seasoned well and texture of jerk tasted like rubber. I will not be going back.

Guilt Free Comfort Food 💚

I am here for work (from California) and randomly chose this place to eat. This place is one of the best vegan restaurants I've been to! The staff was very friendly/knowledgable and the food was delicious. This food is guilt free comfort food, very flavorful and satisfying. I highly recommend this place!

Sexual harassment

I stopped in to inquire about the radio station and the brother that approached me start being very disrespectful, he claimed he was the boss and he ran things, he continued about how he was the engineer electrician and the boss.
He had a strong alcohol stinch on him and he kept verbally disrespecting me in a uncomfortable sexual manor which i didn't appreciate.
He was skinny stood at 6ft tall light brown skin with soft grayish hair and shades on.
Just a heads up to anyone who eats there, everlasting life boss, electrician, engineer is very disrespectful and apparently intoxicated all the time

Exceeded Expectations

As a new member of the vegan community, I was skeptical about the ability of this place to recreate the right flavors and consistencies of nostalgia. This place NAILED IT! My first time going I had trouble ordering, but only because I wanted everything and could not decide. The curry seitan "chik N" and Mac n cashew "Chz" are my current favorites.

Pros: Flavor, Price, Variety

Not Impressed

The customer service was terrible. There was no menu to be displayed and the workers easily confused our order once we were at the counter to pay for our meal. The restaurant staff expected us to know the difference between the various menu options and what the non-soy items were. The greens were bland, the lasagne was horrible (it taste like it contained BBQ sauce) and the Mac & Cheese (without soy) was just so-so. We were really not impressed.

Pros: curry maple drumsticks

Cons: customer service, cleanliness, flavor of the food

Curious to Try More

I visited this location for takeout. The service was very slow but the vegan buffalo chicken and teriyaki wings were WORTH the wait. I also had collard greens but did not like the taste of them at all. The food was very appealing in appearance and piqued my interest to return for more.

Pros: Great portion size, Lots of variety on menu, Buffalo wings

Cons: Speed of service, Collard Greens

Best Food Ever

This place was out of this world good! Not only were the chicken drumsticks so deceptively realistic as to make me question for a moment whether or not they were real, but the cashew macaroni and cheese was the best macaroni and cheese I've ever had. We will definitely be back!

Pros: cake, juice, soul food

Customer service needs improvement. Food is limited.

The first time I came to Everlasting, I had a pleasurable experience. The collards were okay, the cornbread was dry, the string beans were delicious and the mac was the best vegan mac I've had. The brownie was fair and jumbo chocolate chip cookies were delicious! I hadn't bought sweets out in so long, apprehensive of egg and butter. This was all I bought as I do not eat much soy or tofu, which is in many of the entrees here, so I made a meal of sides. Each day offers a new menu, so I decided to return on Sunday for the vegetable lasagna (no soy or tofu). I arrived at about 2 PM to about 5 'fish' patties, some maple curry wings and little to nothing more. I inquired about the lasagne and was told there was none left. I asked when more would be made and the server shrugged and commenced to dancing to a song. I said, you all close at 7, what will your patrons eat when this runs out? Again, she shrugged, this time with an actual response. It depends on "them back there" (I'm assuming she's referencing the cooks). Wow! The lack of professionalism is sad. The woman with a headdress is fine, but if you see a female with blonde hair - I hope your experience is better than mine. I don't know if I'll be returning or sending anymore people this way because I can't guarantee what they will walk into. For me, it was a wasted twenty mile trip.

Pros: Mac, jumbo cookies, cakes

Cons: Food is limited, poor customer service

Fantastic! (Updated Review)

Updated Review: I stopped in again since I was in the area (dog groomer is nearby). I got bbq "chicken" drumsticks, collards, cabbage, Rising Sun drink, and a slice of carrot cake ($23). Again, portions are huge so I can't eat it all in one sitting.

The food this time was excellent so maybe I just hit it on an "off" day the last time. The sauce on the jackfruit drumsticks was amazing and the cabbage was insanely tender and tasty. You can't even tell the frosting on the carrot cake is non-dairy.

Old Review: I stopped here because I was in the area. Staff was polite and explained the dishes I couldn't identify. I paid $21 for a ginger root drink, 1 entree + side, small garlic kale salad, and a brownie. That being said, I couldn't even eat it all because it was very filling.

The garlic kale is really good if you like garlic. The collard greens were good but nothing time write home about, and the jackfruit "chicken" drumsticks were tasty and well cooked. The brownie was very good.

All in all, I'll return simply to support a small vegan business, but I prefer food with more seasoning and flavor. Everything was good but nothing was great.

Unusual Gem

A soul food restaurant that also hosts a radio station. Mood is relaxed and spacious. I wonder if this is run by a local church. They also sell their own juice mixes. A rolling menu that changes daily makes this a interesting choice.

great local vegan

I'm learning what I like and don't like in vegan food and this restaurant gives a good variety for me to explore.

Daily set menu for each day of the week.

Today, I had kale greens, cashew Mac & cheese (I prefer this one. They also have a soy Mac & cheese.), and Jerk Mock Chicken with rice. Huge portions allow for 2 meals.

There is also a cold bar for pre-mixed salads, cooler of juices, freezer for sorbet, and a dessert stand for cakes and cookies. They also offer smoothies and burrito bowls, which I keep forgetting to try.

Good Food, Friendly Staff

This restaurant was not what I expected, but I was happy once I understood what they were. It is pretty much like a buffet bar, but they serve you into takeout trays. You can take your food to the other side and seat yourself and eat. Their food variety changes daily. They have an incerdible veggie bowl which you can choose your add ons, much like Chipotle. The vegan sour cream was great, also they have vegan cheese. The downside is that the food is in the warming tray a long time and can get mushy... I got a mushy eggplant dish one day. The desserts are awesome, but not made in house. The mac n cheeze and their lo mein was good too! I went back the whole time I was in town.

Pros: All Vegan, Awesome Veggie (Chipotle Style) Bowl, Tons Of Vegan Desserts

Cons: Food Sits In Chafing Dish For Hours, Everything Comes As Carryout

Best of 6 We Visited in D C

As a member of a party of 4 who spent this past weekend visiting D C,we divided our energy between the sights and Vegan food we had searched out in advance. All 4 agreed this was our best meal. They offer several entrees, which change daily, and a great range of side dishes.A large plate heaped with 4 choices of sides was about $10.00.Mac & Cheese and spicy tofu points were top favorites. Fried chicken sandwich was incredible, and called for a 2nd to share.Samples were generously offered.Place was clean and staff was clearly thrilled with serving excellent Vegan food.

Pros: 100% Vegan, Home cooked, Variety

Cons: Too far from where we live!!

A hidden Gem

My dad's restaurant(non-vegan) is about 5-10 minutes away from here.
I recommend-

bbq tofu
mac n cheese
soft serve
pizza(in a plastic container)
lemon cheesecake

i haven't had much, but what I did have was phenomenal.

btw, A lady at my dad's restaurant that ate the typical american diet tried the mac n cheese and loved it!

Pros: vegan soul food, mac and cheese, soft serve

Cons: sometimes the mac n cheese is out!

Worth a detour.

Whenever I return from court appearances in Southern Maryland and Washington, D.C., I do my best to eat at Everlasting Life, respectively, in Capitol Heights and Washington, D.C. Without exception, the people have been wonderful, and the food has been fresh and delicious.

It takes wonderful talent consistently to make healthy, tasty and fresh vegan food, and Everlasting Life hits a homerun. I am a vegan, and first ate here in 2001.

Pros: Vegan, Friendly. , Fresh.

Cons: No cons. Only pros.
