No go. - Edit
Did not like it. High prices. Food not all that. I got a taco plate with 4 tacos, beans, and rice. It was 12 bucks! Without a drink! Vegan Food House and Spiral Diner are better.

This food is amazing as a recent move to vegan diet for my lifestyle if I hadn’t been the one ordering it I would have sworn they fed me actual meat! Most food tastes good from other places but this was unforgettable

Amazing - Edit
Updating again.
Read moreToday we tried both kinds of nachos, the Gordita plate, and the tamales for the first time. Just updating. This place is still the same amazing place. Great authentic Mexican food made 100% vegan. We live right around the corner but this would be our go-to even if it was across town. The entire menu is so delicious and they have scratch made pastries that would make anyone happy. I especially love these wheat pastries that have kiwi, (I think) raspberry, and cream cheese-if you want this, go early because they run out fast. They are family owned and they are oh so kind people. We don’t go very often because we don’t have lots of money but they always recognize us. They honor a nice military discount with proof of ID. They have fairly priced meals with huge portions. We can never eat one meal in one sitting. Their horchata is sooooo good. They also sell some juices and bottled Mexican cokes.
I think the tamales could be less beany more meaty so i probably wont get those again but im so glad i got to finally try them.
Pros: 100% vegan, Huge portions for the price, Amazing customer service
Cons: None, Absolutely none, This place is great go here now

Best BBQ I’ve ever had - Edit
I like this place’s bbq so much, I mail order their stuff to Chicago. They are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, which is odd and irritating, as I travel to Dallas for business, usually on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Otherwise I’d eat here far more often.

Super oily. No flavor. Like, at all. - Edit
Ok guys, seriously. Stop being afraid to leave a bad review of vegan places simply because they're vegan.
Read moreI'm (unfortunately) in texas for a week. In the backwoods. I've been starving all week. Flying out in 2 hours. I was so excited to eat some real friggin food, because I've been subsisting off bagels and dry cereal for a week.
Here comes El Palote. My saviour. The 3rd best vegan place in all of Dallas. And you know what? It's not good. At all.
The rice is drowning in oil. The gordita filling has no seasoning at all. Pretty sure the tortilla wasn't even salted, and it definitely wasn't limed. The beans had a weird taste. Not authentic beans at all.
And now that I'm *actually* reading the reviews instead of just going by stars.... Literally reviews saying it's inedible, with 4 stars. Threw it up all? 5 stars.
Please rate restaurants accordingly ..... Hold them accountable for making bad food. We owe it to ourselves and the animals. Non-vegans will try this best-rated garbage and never consider veganism. Vegans will be hungry for a week, then go eat this and wish they were still just hungry instead.
TL;Dr: don't waste your time. Eat somewhere else.

Great tasting - Edit
Covid sensitivity level 10. Don't dare get out of your car. Yellow tape blocking the entrance. Order online, by phone, or someone will come to your car. Soy based tacos. Get the plate of 4 tacos and rice and beans. Authentic taste, look and feel all the around.

Pretty good - Edit
First off, this place has no signs indicating it’s a vegan restaurant. It’s also in a super sketchy area. I got a burrito and it was pretty solid. The rice was good, but the refried beans tasted strange to me. I wasn’t a fan of the nachos honestly. But I gave 4 stars because the rice and burrito was good.

We were beyond impressed with El Palote—it was so incredibly delicious! Dishes that are hard to find, like fresh tamales, birria, menudo—and empanadas!! They were kind enough to greet us at our car due to COVID so that we could ask questions. It’s going to be hard not to come here at least weekly!!

Tasty Vegan Tex Mex - Edit
We ordered the taco plate, enchiladas and flautas!
Read moreThe enchiladas were honestly inedible for me, but it got way better from there! The flautas were incredible. Really enjoyed the rice and beans that came with the tacos as well, and the tacos were incredible!
What me nor my partner enjoyed was getting really sick from all the oil they used. It really sucks spending money on food just to purge it later. 🤢
Pros: Lots of vegan options, Many different meat varieties
Cons: Got sick from the amount of oil used

Incredible faux meats - Edit
El Palote has some of the best vegan tacos in DFW. Their soy meat has the perfect texture and flavor. Their flaurito is to die for. Their pan dulce is heavenly and tastes like the pan I remember eating as a little kid. I wish I didn’t live so far away!! I 200% recommended it to anyone who wants authentic Mexican food that’s healthier and without the cruelty.

SOOOOOOO GOOD! - Edit
I highly recommend eating here. We went multiple times during a trip to Dallas. Really good, authentic, vegan Mexican food. Cool decor, clean with awesome customer service. A large variety of baked goods as well. Both times we went the place was full of locals. Some just coming to grab baked goods like vegan tres leches and others grabbing takeout or dining in. It was a telling sign. Definitely eat here.

Delicious! Mostly everything made in house. The bakery options are sweet but not overly sweet. Service is a bit dead pan but the place is cute. A little expensive as well but great flavor and portions. The papas norteñas are my fave!

This isn't a bad place if you live in the area and want vegan Mexican options. I will say the portions for the price were on the low side, and I left still hungry after eating an entree. The positive side is you can come here without any worry of animal products being in your food.

COME HUNGRY - Edit
I live in Austin, what you might consider to be THE place to be for vegan food in Texas, and there is nothing in Austin that can compare to El Palote Panaderia. Every time I visit my family in Dallas, I always make it a point to visit. If you're hungry, plan on getting the chimichanga with crispy chicharrones. It's so big I can't finish it. Be sure to leave room for pan dulce. I also highly recommend the tres leches cake!
