Best tacos in Tulum! - Edit
I was so happy to find this place! Unpretentious and fairly priced, these tacos were full of flavor and there was a toppings bar to layer on the spice. My favorites were the suadero and bistec tacos but all of them were good, really. If you want to escape the bland and overpriced food by the beach, you must come here! You won’t regret it.

Freaking best tacos around - Edit
We were blown away by this place. Incredibly tasty tacos with a bunch of different filling/base options, all of them to die for - our favorites were green chorizo and bistec. Just go and stuff yourself!!!

Flavor! World-class tacos and more - Edit
El Bajón Vegano serves some of the tastiest Mexican food you’ll find, of the authentic street-food variety. We tried nearly everything— the tacos, huarache, tlayuda and tostadas — and all were as delicious as we’ve had anywhere.
Read moreOne thing we appreciate is that most of their vegan “meats” here are house-made, not processed, and they all wowed us with flavor and texture (except the oat-based chicharrón, which was fine but not amazing). Some are mushroom-based while others use seeds and other ingredients for flavor and texture.
They serve the tacos and huaraches without salsa or garnish, leaving you free to dress them up as you please from the bar that includes free condiments such as salsas (both spicy and mild), fresh cilantro, lime, onion, etc.
Yes, as mentioned in a previous review, some items are saltier or oilier than some health-focused diners might prefer, but if you’re looking for the best tastes in Tulum and you’re willing to tolerate a little of that naughtiness, El Bajón Vegano should be on your short list. Flavor-wise, we’d rate it near the same level as Suculenta down the street.
Note that the tacos are quite reasonably priced at 25 pesos each, but other menu items will drive your bill up faster, and most portions are all the small side so you’ll want more than one item if hungry. Still, for the quality of flavor, you can find good value here. (And if you’re wondering why the tlayuda is more expensive, it’s gigantic, and could be shared by two people.)
They also make a decent vegan brownie.
We ordered in Spanish so we can’t say how much English is spoken, but the menu has English on one side and Spanish on the other.
Highly recommended. Enjoy!

Local vegan community - Edit
Some of the food was incredible but other stuff was too greasy and salty for my liking. We got tacos, a tostada (recommended) and a huarache and you can choose your filling. Definitely recommend any of the mushroom fillings over the fake meats - less salty. Very militant and punk vibe and lots of locals hanging around. Really cheap though so that’s great! 25 pesos per taco! And service was quick!

Buena comida - Edit

Visiting Tulum for the day I had to try this place. Lovely to see a cafe promoting animal liberation and veganism, not just serving vegan food. Food is reasonably priced and service was efficient. I had a Huaraches with the Pastor base. Toppings are available at the counter, would’ve like these to be a bit fresher as they seemed to have been sitting there a while, eg the limes were incredibly dry. I also had a kombucha, lots of nice flavours on offer. They have a shop on the side selling vegan products too.

Best vegan tacos in Tulum - Edit
During my visit to Tulum I tried several vegan places in my food journey and nothing compares to this place. Miles better than any around. It also feels very authentic and not just a tourist trap restaurant or influencer spot.

We took a little day trip to Tulum to try these vegan tacos a friend recommended and what a recommendation! I got bistec, pastor and chicharron which were all amazing and just 25 pesos each (about £1). Really loved this place, would definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Lovely little taco place / vegan shop.
Read moreWhat I liked about the place is that they don’t use an awful lot of “meat alternatives” they make their own versions of popular tacos but with grains and vegetables.
Ordered a round of 4 tacos to start then had to order another round because they were so good.
