Amazing!!

Awesome decor and delicious, filling food- they manage such a variety between each burger! Especially recommend the ‘pretty green’ (I think it was called)😋 I’ll still be full in three days😉
I brought my non- vegan family and they also LOVED the food and the atmosphere of the place- would highly recommend taking non- vegans here aswell.

Unfortunately gone down hill majorly since the menu change.

Used to go here every time we ate out (birthdays and special occasions) and we loved it!
My small has allergies so we have to be careful where we eat and that they can accommodate. After being here a few times we knew what we liked and what my small could eat....or so we thought. Unfortunately they’d changed the menu and it wasn’t for the better. The cauliflower 5 ways was THE BEST thing I’ve ever ate out (my omni bf loves them too!) well they’ve been pulled from the menu and replaced with cauliflower bits which were small bits of cauliflower in a hot spice , no variety , no skill needed imo (I’m an avid from scratch vegan cook at home!)
My daughters food was served and it was stir fried veg (the kitchen basically said they couldn’t do anything else for her- even though previously they have) it was served in a puddle of grease and unsurprising my daughter refused to eat it. My food was overpowered by mint (I have a falafel burger) and came with NO BUN! The only person happy with her meal was my 5 year old.
Three out of four of us left that night feeling hungry and out of pocket.
The staff on that night were rude also, they forgot part of our drink order and argued amongst themselves in front of us who’s fault it was. The chef didn’t seem to want to check anything for allergens and just kept telling me of the cross contamination and saying my daughter couldn’t eat anything but stir fry due to cross contamination- which is fine for her. He would not listen and seemed to just want to fob us off.
This restaurant has gone from our fave to a place we won’t ever visit again. Such a shame!

Pros: Beautiful place, Lovely hidden away location although a b to find!

Cons: Menu change means portion sizes are small, Everything tasted of mint, Greasy

Great place and the Omnis loved it too!

Came over from Manchester for NYE, we hadn't booked but they squeezed us in. We tried a few different dishes between us, all were good and we actually couldn't eat it all. Better menu than V Rev, wider choice and interesting things like Porcini Popcorn which came with my hot dog. Service was excellent too 🖖

Pros: Great menu options, Great service

Cons: Only complaint was that it was really hot in there

Vegan junk

Vegan junk food...I've eaten here a few times and the food is good but I've had alot better. Some dishes really lack flavour esp the mac n cheese..which had zero taste at all! Also isn't very cosy

Pros: Lots vegan options

Cons: Expensive.. lacks flavour and not cosy to sit in

Best Sunday Roast!

Booked here when visiting from Manchester on a Sunday. Didn’t realise they only did roast on Sundays, but after seeing other people’s meals I wasn’t mad! The portions were massive, seitan was amazing and the carrots and parsnips were incredible. My flexitarian wife loved it too and said the meal was full of yum flavours. Looking forward to visiting again to try the rest of the menu!

Pros: Massive portions, Attentive staff, Great alcohol selection

Cons: Drinks took a while to arrive

Amazing Sunday roast!

We've only had the roast here but loved it. Especially the unlimited plates / all you can eat concept - although after two we were stuffed. Friendly staff and would definitely go back.

Pros: All you can eat roast, tasty food, staff, decor

Noisy but nice

Looking at the menu, the V notation was the opposite of what I was used to - all items are vegan, except the the ones marked V, which are only vegetarian. We had two of the burgers - nice and substantial, with a good portion of fries. The place was noisy though.

Amazing

Ordered through deliveroo since I’d only just arrived at my hotel after a long journey. I had the Satan’s back with sweet chilli sauce, which was a seitan burger and a hash brown in a bun with paprika fries. Quite possibly the best vegan junk food I’ve ever had and so reasonable at £11.50 (£13 including deliveroo charge), it arrived at my front door 20 minutes after ordering.

Pros: Vegan restaurant with vegetarian options , Big portions of great tasting food, Cheap - £9.50 for gourmet burger and fries

Junk food joy

Everything is vegetarian and a large proportion of the menu is ok for vegans. If you like burgers and chips, you’ll love it! Fabulous seitan burgers and the cauliflower is awesome. Filling and fattening options - burgers, hotdogs, and deep fried veg. Generous discount if you have an Independent Liverpool card. Good service. My only complaint was getting turned away because they decided to shut early one day.

Pros: Lots for vegans, Delicious seitan , Nice vibe & decor

Cons: Not many ‘lighter’ or ‘healthy’ alternatives

Basement bar

Great basement bar atmosphere and good vegan burgers and doner kebab. I was excited to try the "cauliflower 5 ways" but that one disappointed me a bit - the 5 ways didn't seem very different, mainly 5 sauces. The burger & doner were good tho

Boy oh Boy, your search for naughty vegan food is over.

This place is THE Best place in town for a dirty cheat meal when your vegan or veggie. It's hella tasty. Like all of it.
All the staff are really cool and friendly.
The interior is a cool basement vibe.
This place is so good it keeps you coming back.
It even impresses my meat eating friends. None of that missing meat rubbish.

Pros: Everything, Staff

Cons: None, apart from you'll want to eat here always

Fantastic selection of vegan fast food

Down The Hatch offers a fantastic selection of vegan fast food. I visited twice recently and tried 'The Don' (pitta with seitan, slaw, lettuce, red onion and tzatziki, served with fries) £8 and the 'Mini Mac & Cheese' £4.50. Delicious!

The venue is lovely, welcoming and clean. I can't wait to return on my next trip to Liverpool!

Amazing Vegan Options!

I thoroughly enjoyed my recent visit to Liverpool, I think it is a great city for vegan food options, but I have to say our meal at Down the Hatch was the highlight of our trip! The whole menu sounded amaxing and all the food we had was delicious. The warm brownie dessert was out of this world! I'll be back for sure when next in Liverpool.

Vegan Food As It Should Be

Bottle of water brought to the table as I was ordering ( nice touch ) Ordered a Double Deep Fried Seitan Burger with chips. Exceptional! Delicious good sized portions.
Asked for an Ice Cream Sundae for dessert but was brought ice cream with chocolate cake. Looked so nice I didn't complain. Best gooey, sticky chocolate cake I have ever eaten!
Professional efficient, attentive and friendly staff who cleared the tables as diners left ( nothing worse that tables left with dirty cutlery and left over food to destroy a dining experience). Atmosphere is busy but relaxed.
The restaurant is spotless as are the toilets.
Down The Hatch is how a restaurant should be and how it should be run. Other vegan establishments should take note and follow suit.
Highly recommended.

Delicious Junk Food!

I got a seitan zinger burger and it was very very good. This place hits the spot perfectly if you want to indulge. It was really busy when I got there, so no free tables. I asked if I could sit at the bar and eat and they where more than happy to oblige. Very friendly staff that provided quick efficient service even though it was a busy time.

Pros: Exceptionally good vegan mayo! probably the best I

Cons: Not open Mon and closed during the day on Tue - Th

Tasty and cool

I went in for lunch and had the Double Take which was a vegan double deep-fried seitan burger without the bun and fries. I liked the bbq sauce and the seitan bacon. The combination was great. Portion size good and food well prepared. A good many vegan options which would draw me back. Made a refreshing change from falafel and avocado all over the place.

Service was good and I enjoyed the reggae music. Not really wheelchair friendly as it's down steps for entry and up a few steps for the toilets. Scored points by having free sanitary products and deodorant in the toilets.

Pros: Great food and selection, Nice atmosphere., Great service
