P good - Edit
Had the cauliflower wings with jager sauce which was too sweet imo. Also had the salt and pepper chicken and the zinger. Both were pretty good but zinger was a bit dry, extra spicy wasn’t spicy either. For the vegetarians the Camembert was very good and the sauce surprisingly paired well.

Great food confusing menu - Edit
When you first look at the menu it almost looks like only a couple of bites and the chips are vegan but after checking with our server the whole menu is vegan and those marked v/ve have the option to be made non vegan by changing the cheese. I find this a little odd especially after having the flood and how tasty it is. I wish they could stop offering this as an option to passify any non vegans that come in and let them taste what is awesome vegan junk food. Portions are big, I can put food away like a champ and I was stuffed after sharing a bite and eating my main.

Worth the Trip from Stoke - Edit
We didn't go to Liverpool just to visit here but it would have been worth the journey if we had. Fabulous food with big portions served by friendly staff and at a reasonable price.
Read moreThe menu is fully vegan but you can have some things vegetarian which is a good way round but vegan cheese is so good now, why bother even if you're just a vegetarian?

Disappointing Mac n cheese - Edit
We went to down the hatch and a great time - the vibe of the place was amazing. The service from the staff was really good, they were really helpful. I asked how spicy the buffalo sauce was and a member of staff got me a sample!
Read moreFor starters we had the fried oyster mushrooms with buffalo sauce which was our favourite thing of the night. Very crispy, great texture and the buffalo sauce was really tasty.
I got the Mac and cheese, which was very disappointing. The sauce didn’t coat the pasta at all, it was really thin which meant the pasta felt dry. I would have preferred a more creamier sauce that coated the pasta and had a stronger taste - this one lacked flavour. On top of the Mac and cheese was fried pickles (which were great) and buffalo sauce.
My partner got the zinger burger which was supposed to be spicier than the buffalo sauce but it lacked any spice. The actual patty made of seitan was good but it needed a bit more spice to make it more exciting.
Overall, the Mac and cheese was so disappointing and the burger lacked spice however the mushroom wings made up for this.

Sooooooo good - Edit
Monday eve dinner with friends was absolutely perfect. Mushrooms to start, which was sooooooo good….seriously good. Kebabish (with Seitan) main, which was practically perfect in every way (A bit like Miss Poppins). Banana delight (made up name) for a great finisher. Staff were friendly, music chilled but funky and atmosphere perfect. This place really is the Duke St gem. Look forward to next time. x

Really prompt service - Edit
Really welcoming place, the waitress was very nice and the food was ready in no time. The only issue I had was that some sauces were extremely citrusy which I am allergic to (my own fault for not informing) but would like to see this listed on the menu. Has an extensive menu and hope to return to try more.

Really nice roast - Edit
We booked for an evening Sunday roast. The gravy, potatoes and cauliflower and seitan were delicious. Some of the brussel sprouts were a bit tough but it was still nice. As we booked, we also got a free cookie dough dessert. I had mine with strawberry ice cream. The cookie dough was warm and delicious.

Eva’s Birthday Meal - Edit
We’d been to Down the Hatch years ago but apparently never left a review on here! So here it is.
Read moreComprehensive vegan menu with plenty of different options. I had the Scouse, Karen had a cheeseburger with fries, both really good. The deserts were lovely, particularly the homemade cookie dough.
Coffee was nice too. Staff were very friendly and helpful which is always nice.
It was missing that bit of magic to make it 5 stars but would still recommend a visit and we wouldn’t hesitate to go again ourselves.
Pros: Full vegan menu, Reasonably priced, Close to train station
Cons: Difficult access for disabled customers, Food lacking the wow factor

Cool venue - Edit
Loved the cool dark vibes from the venue. Nice and chilled out after a busy day walking round the city and the food was amazing. Only complaint is had to double check the mozzy dippers we ordered were vegan as the menu states most things are vegetarian too. In my opinion they should just drop the vegetarian bit and go 100% vegan.

Unapologetically Vegan Fast Food - Edit
Tasty options, one to visit after some dog and lead. Not bad for a date night but it can be quite busy. More of a evening spot that a lunchtime one.

Great food, prices, and service to match! - Edit
DTH is uber cool -- a basement bar with delicious vegan junk food, genuinely friendly staff, and tasty drinks. They have a really affordable meal deal (also cocktails) before 6pm. It's all vegan by default but you can add dairy if you really must. Such an awesome place.

Best vegan burger in 7 years - Edit
In my 7 years of being vegan, this place won the top vegan burger for me. As I couldn't choose I asked the waiter for recommendation and he recommended the mac n cheese patty burger. It was honestly amazing, really tasty, not too dry, not too juicy and had a balance of different tastes making it fully enjoyable.
Read moreFor me personally it was a bit too much with the tasty fries, coleslaw and beer so I couldn't finish it all and was kinda sad I couldn't try other dishes. But definitely recommend 110% to go there!

Best burgers ever - Edit
We ended up eating a lot of burgers on our visit to Liverpool, not planned but no complaints! However, Down the Hatch definitely produced the best of all. The mac n cheeze burger was pure comfort food. Plenty of chips and the desserts were great too. Service was excellent. We will be back!

Delicious Vegan Junk Food - Edit
We've visited here a few times now and it never fails to impress. Really nice array of starters, burgers and wraps, made with home made seitan, soy, or vegetable based fillings. There's also a selection of loaded fries to choose from if you have the room!
Read moreWe've only tried one dessert, the Oreo Ched, which wasn't sweet enough for us. But there's plenty of other sweet options to try, including shakes.
