This small but perfectly formed little cafe is perfect for lunch or ( if you book ) a Saturday night dinner.

I particularly like the blackboard showing where all the days ingredients have travelled from.

I saw this place advertised on happy cow as I was searching the area for vegan eateries. I’m from London and struggle to find good vegan places in smaller towns so was over the moon when I found cradle. I got an apple pastry and an energy bite and both were incredible. EVERYTHING on their menu is vegan! Would defo recommend. Also, staff were so friendly.

This place is ridiculously good! Best pastries I have EVER eaten, vegan or not, everyone I take here loves it. Their hot food is so so so full of flavour and the staff are so lovely. When I tell other vegans I live near Sudbury, they always say "oh my god, have you been to cradle?!" Just go - it's worth the trip wherever you live!

We drive here every few weeks from Cambridge and buy dozens of pastries and loaves of bread as they are so much better than anything available near us. In fact, better than anything I have found in London or Paris!
Read moreThe food is unbelievably tasty and extremely reasonably priced (under £6 per dish) and yet most of the ingredients are organic. Plus the coffee is sensational.

6 of my family visited for the set meal on a Saturday night and we were all so very impressed. There is a set menu that included appetiser, starts, main, palate cleanser, dessert and treats (although if you have dietary requirements let them know). All the courses were stunning, tasty and made with fabulously fresh ingredients. The portion sizes were just right and meant that we could eat all the courses. It was very good value with the set menu and soft drink and coffee coming in around £22 per head. I've had equivalent for 3 x the price!. The staff were friendly and the service was very good. The tables are cafe style, and the vibe is trendy (especially for Sudbury;)

The Best Vegan Cafe Ever! - Edit
We were just passing through Sudbury the first time we visited and stopped for lunch. It's a small place, the menu is small - and these are the only negative things I have to say about it.
Read moreThe food is amazing! With croissants, pastries, quiches, tartines, cakes, cheese cakes (still vegan of course!), the best sourdough bread you're ever likely to eat. We ended up eating as much as we could eat for lunch then buying a whole load of bread and pastries to take away. They do good coffee, interesting kombucha (with Red Bush tea) and a lovely hot chocolate. And none of it is expensive.
The food is like really fine dining in a posh place in London - which is hard to get when you're vegan. Whenever I eat there I always wonder how he makes the food, it just doesn't seem like vegan food.
There's a whole load of ethos that comes with Cradle too, about forming a co-op and having locally sourced food etc. But I'll let you look at their website for that.
We've made it out mission to visit Cradle a few more times since we discovered it, even though it's quite a long way from where we live. Last time we were there we had a good chat with Christophe and I asked him (maybe begged him) to publish a recipe book. He just did a kind of French shrug and said 'maybe one day.' So for now we'll all have to trek to Sudbury for this amazing food.
P.S. They allow dogs inside, so our mini-schnauzer Magnus comes too. He even gets a few complimentary vegan dog biscuits while he's there.

Best vegan restaurant I've discovered so far.. foodie heaven! - Edit
The commitment to creating delicious vegan food is incredible at Cradle. I often find its hard to find good vegan pastries as a vegan, the chef here is French and bakes his own range of croissants, pain au chocolate, Danish pastries and sourdough.

They are lovely hosts and I'd recommend to anyone regardless of diet.
