My Absolute Go-To - Edit
A separate Vegan section is always an awesome thing to see. I've been hooked on the Impossible Quesadilla and the breakfast that comes with sour cream and salsa. The side salad is more decent than any restaurant I've been to! Love this place!

In town from Boston and found this place. Absolutely wonderful. Full vegan menu with lots of options. Great diner feel with a nice and knowledgeable staff. Will have to resist making the two hour drive from Boston just to visit this place.

A pleasant surprise - Edit
Upon transitioning from vegetarian to vegan 20 years ago, I used to love Veg City Diner in NYC. Food wasn’t the absolute best but I grew up on diner food. Veg City closed years ago and it was wonderful to find Colony Diner and their abundant vegan options

awesome but expensive - Edit
loved the food! im very used to going into restaurants knowing i will have to make something up, so when i saw that they had a vegan MENU???? i lost my mind!!! the tofu scramble was delicious- the portions are huge. i also got a vegan milkshake! it was like any other milkshake, but i didnt really notice because i was finally able to share a proper breakfast with my family. the only issue was that it was really expensive! some of the things i saw on the menu can easily be made at home, but they were nearly 20 dollars. overall, i would come here again- just maybe save it for a special occasion.

Loved it! - Edit
It was awesome to find a diner that’s only about 20/25 minutes from me with so many vegan options! My sister and I split the vegan breakfast quesadilla and the vegan macaroni and cheese casserole!! My personal fav was the mac and cheese!! It kinda reminded me of the creaminess of Chili’s Cajun chicken pasta but without the tomatoes and Cajun chicken obvs lol!! It came with an option of soup or salad and we chose the soup of the day which was lentils. The lentils were packed with flavor, really loved them! I also enjoyed the quesadilla too, just would get it without the bacon next time! The home fries were bomb as well🔥 Can’t wait to return and try more items off their vegan menu!

This place is incredible - Edit
I Googled for vegan in the Wallingford Connecticut area and this place came up, but I did not have high hopes for a diner in the hinterland. Lo and behold, they have a dedicated vegan menu (for breakfast, lunch, and dinner) as part of the usual humongous diner menu. The food I ordered was still typical diner fare, but thoroughly vegan, even down to the French dressing! Even more impressive was when my waitress turned out to be vegan ... because of concern about animals to boot! ... and then the owner came over and sat with me. Typical Greek diner owner ... except he's vegan too! He said one of his two vegan daughters showed him a video about what happens to the animals, and that did it. You can see from various items left around the store that this establishment not only offers vegan options but is on a campaign to get people to go vegan. Is this place unique? There may be hope for the world after all. Ridiculous that happy cow won't permit five stars for a place like this. It deserves our maximum encouragement.

Wow, a lot of vegan food with more to come - Edit
I was sad to see someone recently left a one star review for this restaurant. If I could give it 10 stars I would. The happy cow will only allow 5 star reviews for 100% vegan restaurants which seems kind of unfair so my 4 stars are only because that is all that is allowed on this site for a place that also serves meat.
Read moreI had the vegan quesadilla and it was GREAT!! The vegan cheese was so much like real cheese I got nervous and asked the waitress. She said the owner of the diner is vegan and they would never do anything sneaky like that.
The food portions were huge so I got to take a lot home, everything was so tasty and comforting. I left in a wonderful mood.
Knowing the owner is vegan just made me feel even better about the food. I can't wait to go back. I spoke with the owner and he said more vegan options are coming Dec. 2019.
Pros: great comfort food, super clean restaurant, you get a lot for your money

Worst vegan food EVER - Edit
I went here on other reviews and I’d have to say this was the worst vegan food I’ve eaten!! I ordered the breakfast quesadillas, which seemed to be a big hit with other users and I was so disappointed! I didn’t even eat it!! I wanted to vomit! The waitress realizing that I didn’t eat my food, didn’t ask if anything was wrong, but offered to wrap it...don’t waste your time or money!

Good option! - Edit
We did not expect much but ended up being very impressed! Got two coffees with almond milk and vegan breakfast quesadillas. They were pretty pricey (13$ each) but the portion size did not disappoint! Loaded with scrambled tofu, lots of sweet earth bacon, daiya cheese, and fresh veggies. The potatoes were great and came with vegan sour cream and salsa. I would say it is a great value considering the cost of vegan products. They also did not charge us for almond milk. Tons of options and the waitress was very accommodating although she was busy. I will add that some of the menu items were a bit bizarre such as the reuben that had no vegan protein but we didn’t try it so I can’t really speak on it. We will be back!

AMAZING VEGAN OPTIONS - Edit
This is a regular diner, but with a "VEGAN BREAKFAST" section, 'VEGAN LUNCH" and "VEGAN DINNER." Portions are large and hearty; menu options are fun. We had an avocado stuffed with chickpea tuna, a breakfast quesadilla (scrambled tofu, cheese, smokey vegan bacon, avocado, etc), BLT (comes in a wrap and is sensational), and the chickpea stew with rice pilaf. Everything really great. Didn't get dessert but they have vegan ice cream and fried Oreos. Our waitress (vegan) said that her family owns the diner and that her dad is now vegan too. Also, she said that the vegan menu items will be expanding this winter. Definitely worth going to!!!!

Great diner experience - Edit
The vegan menu here is all great. I love the breakfast quesadilla. The staff seem pretty well-informed about what's vegan and what isn't. No dedicated frier if that's something that would bother you, but there's plenty to eat there without the fried foods. The portions are generous. A little pricey, but overall worth it.

Vegan Options - Edit
As a vegan, I don’t really frequent diners at all, which is something that we’ve missed, particularly when we have overnight guests and want an option that can accommodate a wide variety of dietary needs. I’m so happy that Colony Diner has added several vegan options to their menu! Kudos to them and their vegan chef. I had their Chipotle BLT, which was delicious!!
