Wow! A vegan’s dream! - Edit
It was so hard to decide what to get! The vegan menu is huge! Breakfast all day including pancakes, French toast and scrambled oh my!! Wraps, sandwiches, quesadillas, plenty of dinner options-I had the chick n parm. The portions are huge and delicious! Then there’s dessert-ice cream, cake, pie, milk shakes and fried Oreos!!! Sadly we were too full for dessert. Enjoy!

Wide variety of vegan options - Edit
We tried the vegan Reuben (more of a cooked veggie sandwich with sauerkraut but good), Mac and cheese, and patty melt. They had chocolate cake and carrot cake in the case, but we didn’t try them. Fun to have a lot of vegan options at a diner. It’s also open pretty late for CT.

A VEGAN DREAM COME TRUE! - Edit
Colony Diner in Wallingford, CT has been on our list for a while now and we finally visited for the first time this past weekend! It exceeded all expectations! They have a FULL page of vegan breakfast, lunch, dinner and desserts on their menu (See last pic). We went for brunch and got vegan quesadillas, wraps, breakfast sandwiches and even vegan milkshakes!! The Oreo Vegan Milkshake was made purely of crushed oreos, hence the dark color. (Not just vanilla ice cream with a few specs of oreo thrown in!) It was the best oreo milkshake I've ever had and I've been dreaming about it everyday since then! We will definitely be going back to try their lunch and dinner sometime! This restaurant doesn't have an IG but you can find them on FB!

Great for Vegans - Edit
Extensive vegan menu and everything is clearly identifiable. They even label to go boxes as vegan! Staff is mindful and knowledgeable about vegan options as well. We mostly come here for the breakfast options, but the lunch menu is great too.

Terrible for celiacs! - Edit
I was so excited to see their vegan menu and ordered a vegan omelet in a gluten-free wrap… I made sure to say I wanted the gluten-free version because of severe allergies. Unfortunately, asking for a gluten-free meal does not mean anything to the waitstaff and I was served vegan bacon made from wheat. When I brought this up to the waitress, she literally shrugged and told me she didn’t know, and besides she thought I had only asked for the wrap to be gluten free as she walked away.
Read moreUnbelievable!!!!
Be very careful if you have any food allergies as this place clearly does not care if you get sick from their mistakes. Their vegan or gluten-free items may not be completely vegan or gluten-free as they are cooked with the same utensils on the same surfaces as meat and wheat and they do not have a separate fryer.

the vegan menu is so huge! We ordered dessert first, fried oreos. The breakfast quesadilla was great, but i wouldn’t order the bacon on its own. The cheese was delicious and melty! The cinnamon roll pancake was also a dream. Carrot cake was delicious

Classic diner with many vegan options - Edit
There’s a dedicated page for vegan options with many classic diner dishes. I tried the Ruben and was very happy. They have breakfast all-day and you can get a bottomless coffee with non dairy milk. Oh, and their non-dairy shakes are great as well.

Tasty and big portions - Edit
Dinner entrees were HUGE… my leftover chik’n parmesan pasta barely fit into the to-go container after my boyfriend and I ate a fair share of it, and the salads entrees come with were very hearty (with lots of different veggies and some chickpeas… the house dressing was very herb-y and amazing!). The mac n cheese casserole was our favorite item by far… so tasty and so creamy. The marinara on the chik’n parmesan was good, but we found the Gardein chicken underwhelming (and we usually love Gardein stuff).

Food for those who don’t need salt - Edit
It was ok. It did need salt. This isn’t the place for those who want heathy vegan choices. They have a lot of highly processed vegan items like, vegan sour cream, vegan cheese, vegan processed proteins, and vegan butter. If your into all that this is the spot for you.
Read moreI got the southwestern hash with vegan French toast.
The hash lacked flavor. I had to add salt and the salsa with sour cream in order to gain some flavor.
The French toast was chewy not easy to cut or chew.
Pros: A good amount of vegan options
Cons: Processed vegan options, Kind of pricy

Delicious food, crazy prices - Edit
Huge vegan menu, with fresh breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. I got avocado toast and it was the best avocado toast I've had in my entire life. My only complaint was the price. $100 for 4 people each with one drink and one meal!!! That's outrageous!!!!

Expensive but great - Edit
I was blown away when I found out about their extensive vegan menu. For a diner of all places, it was really surprising and exciting.
Read moreTheir milkshakes are expensive; $10 for any milkshake is pretty ridiculous. But I got the strawberry and it was delicious, I loved the use of fresh strawberries. Friends have tried their oreo and chocolate varieties and said both were really good.
I ended up getting the french toast because it's something I've never had vegan, and it was good with the added fruit.
I would go back here more often, but their prices are way too outrageous to justify for diner food. Just a once in a while kinda treat.

LOVE LOVE LOVE - Edit
First time visiting colony diner today, the waitress was amazing and gave us the backstory with the vegan options. For a diner the food is more expensive than you may be used to, BUT IT IS WORTH IT. I am a college swimmer and wasn’t able to clean my plate. There’s so much food for the price (and vegan food is typically more expensive to begin with). I would give this place 5 stars, but they aren’t fully vegan.

Another option for vegans in Wallingford! - Edit
I found this spot one day (Arles & Boggs was closed) and what a nice surprise. The Colony is, in many ways, a traditional diner, but with a vegan twist. Vegan pancakes & french toast, nachos, quesadilla, tofu scramble, salads and more. I am delighted to add this to my my fave spots in CT.

Amazing Vegan Options - Edit
I hear about this place on Facebook in a vegan group. My drive there took over 30 minutes & it was worth every mile! I ordered the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes as well as vegan bacon and sausage on the side. I didn’t like that it was $4.99 each for the faux meat, however, taste wise it did not disappoint. I would definitely go again to try their lunch menu.

Decent - Edit
The amount of well-planned vegan options was impressive. I ordered the tofu scramble with toast, home fries, and bacon ( $5), and my partner ordered the sausage cheese & tofu sandwich. We also enjoyed bottomless coffee with oat milk.
Read moreThe portion of my dish was HUGE and came with very generous helpings of both tofu and potatoes as well as two slices of toast and plenty of Upton brand bacon. The sandwich was served without sides and looked very small next to my plate, although they cost the same, and we ended up sharing much of my plate.
The sandwich was very good, with an appetizing ratio of sausage/cheese to tofu. The scrambled tofu was disappointing and tasted like plain tofu with turmeric for color, and there were no seasonings to speak of. The home fries were very soft and had not been allowed to brown for classic home fry crispness. The server did offer mix-ins for the scrambled tofu, but I think they cost extra. The tofu and potatoes were made better with the condiments on the table.
My partner ordered a chocolate milkshake to go, and it was expensive for how ordinary it was. ($10)
All in all, we had a pleasant experience. There were so many tasty-sounding vegan options, and we love the classic diner experience. We’d visit again to give something else a try, but wouldn’t recommend to non-veg or new vegans because our food tasted like the unfavorable stereotypes of vegan food.
Pros: Lots of options & vegan section , Huge portions , Classic diner experience
Cons: Expensive for quality , Bland food
