Dull - Edit
When you're tired of the city's Indians or "the vegetarian alternative", this is one of surprisingly few places to go to. It's cheap, and you basically get what you're paying for. But it's tasty, and the vibe is good.

Among the bests of Stockholm - Edit
This restaurant offers a buffet and some dishes 'à la carte'. We tried the vegan burger and the vegan skewers (tofu and seitan). Both of them were very good, especially the seitan which is fantastic even if there are only 3 small skewers in the dish. The rest is salad or potatoes, which is a pity. Otherwise, the place is very pleasant, you can take a free salad and hummus at the entrance and they have good vegan cakes. Good vibes, friendly staff and reasonable prices. It is a must go in Stockholm.

Great vegan restaurant - Edit
It's a great place!
Read moreThe buffé menu goes for 90 sek or 100 sek if you want to mix several types of dishes + free refill.
Also includes a sallad buffé, bread, tea & coffee, water (which is always free in any Swedish restaurant)
The A - la - carte menu is more pricy but still cheap - goes for 145ish.
Id'd guess the place is maybe 70% vegan
Pros: tasty food, cozy place, good value
Cons: boring menu - it's never updated , can get crowded - though you can prebook, not organic food

Really tasty food - Edit
They had great vegan dishes for lunch, you pay for one plate and can come back to refill once, so the price is actually for a plate and a half, it's a lot of food, totally worth the money. They also had a delicious chocalate pie.

Always busy, always delicious. Reserve a table! - Edit
Stayed in Stockholm very close by, so had the pleasure of going a couple of times. Rotating vegan dishes available with good portion sizes and served with really delicious brown bread and fruit-laden water. Had a nice array of sweets for dessert or fika as well. Extremely busy, but you can reserve a table in advance online (a must for most hours of the day).

If i had the money, i'd go here more often - Edit
Chutney is a cosy place I've eaten dinner at a couple of times, and sometimes just grabbed a cup of tea and a cake. The vegan hamburger is my favorite but it's pretty expensive to me. the staff is nice and half of both food and cake menu is usually vegan. some of the cakes arent worth the money but some of them really are.
Read moreDuring lunch-hours and dinner time, it gets crowded real fast so one should try to get there early if you want a place to sit.
Pros: good food, half of the menu is vegan, cosy
Cons: gets really crowded, a bit expensive, have to walk a bit to get there

Great place - tasty and plentiful food. - Edit
Really tasty food and plenty of it. You can go back for more if the first helping wasn't enough, or if you're just greedy like me! The salad and bread selection to go with the meal was really nice too. Most of the options on the menu were vegan when I went. Very good value too - 93SEK for the food. Good selection of beers.

Tasty and well worth the money - Edit
Chutney is often mentioned, even recommended to a vegan who has recently moved to Stockholm. Checked it out today at late lunch time. It was not that crowded we got our own table.
Read moreThere were three vegan dishes on the lunch list (for 80 SEK, including coffee and salad and bread - the interesting looking brown bread was not vegan though). Additionally there was the obligatory (I think in ALL the vegetarian restaurants in Sweden) not-vegan lasagne...
Vegan burger would have cost more, 120 SEK I think.
The "Indiska biffar med potatismos och rödbetsås" was very good! The lady behind the dish who served the food mentioned right away that it's okay to have more food if youre still hungry - and the portion WAS quite small so both my and companion went back for seconds.
On the minus side: the coffee on the lunch buffet side table was stale and old, and i saw the waitress add new coffee on top of the old in the pan! Whoa!
There was the possibility to PAY for coffee (obviously, it's o lunch cafeteria type of place), even special coffees like espresso etc I would assume that would taste better.
Pros: good value, good food, vegan options
Cons: not all vegan, would rather take food self , coffee was BAD

Pretty good food, some of it Indian-inspired.
Read moreThere's a nice salad bar you can pick from with your meal, so you can augment the main food with some good sides as you wish.
The food was tasty, and service was decent. Pleasant outdoor seating if you want it.
Pretty easy to get to using the metro, which is nice for a visitor.
Pros: good food, very reasonable prices, nice sides

Tasty vegan food - Edit
This is one of my favorite places to visit when I am in Stockholm. Chutney usually has several dishes you can choose from, and some are vegetarian and some are vegan. To the food they serve bread, salad and water flavored with lemons, cucumbers or other fruit. A great thing is that you can take your plate back for seconds after finishing up. Yum!
Read moreA cool thing is that you can make a combo plate with two of the dishes and thus maximize the flavors. Every time I have been there, the food has been great.
Most important, they have vegan chocolate balls and they are the best chocolate balls I have ever had. They have other delicious vegan desserts as well.
Pros: Busy, Great food with free refills, Awesome vegan desserts
Cons: Busy, Inside can be loud if the place is full

My favourite vegan place in Stockholm - Edit
I love this place. The food is good, generous portion (and it is OK to ask for moore food if it would not be enough), the atmosphere cozy and the price low for being Sweden. It might be an good idea to book a table in the evening since it usually is crowded.

Perfect for dinner with friends - Edit
I've only been there once, so i tasted just one dish. The flavor was great and I appreciated it. They have a lot of vegan cakes and they are delicious also. Atmosphere was nothing special but fine for a group of friends that want to spend their dinner time together. No privacy for a couple, for instance.

canteen food - never change menu - Edit
Alternative left people come here of tradition. It is canteen food, messy, sometimes ok but mostly you miss flavors. They make some kind of Swedish version of Indian and other Asian food very often, which means tasteless and boring. There are a lot of Indian restaurants in this areas where you can get better vegetarian food.
Read moreI have been here many times during the years. You end up here when you live in Sodermalm and don't know where to go because there are not so many veg restaurants in Sodermalm.
Updated from previous review on Sunday July 22, 2012
Do they have the same things on the menu for 20 years now? It is pretty expansive for Indian canteen food!
Why do we come here? There are not so many better alternatives in Sthlm....
Updated from previous review on Saturday February 08, 2014
There are no other vegetarian restaurants with vegan options in Södermalm open in the evening so I came here again. Nice wine, but the food as usual. Dry and tasteless. The most tasty thing on my plate was the potato...
Pros: location, usually vegan options
Cons: basement , tasteless food, service - bad attitude

Best Food In Sweden - Edit
We ate at Chutney - which our friend Vegan Ann from China told us about. This is an absolutely amazing Indian food with the Swedish style buffet. You get unlimited chutney, Swedish bread and vegetables, coffee and tea with up to two plates of amazing food. It was so good we ate their for lunch and dinner the same day! I still miss the food to this day. They have desserts as well, which are ok but not amazing- the meals were better.

Popular vegetarian restaurant, great location - Edit
Many vegan options and vegan desserts. Try the vegan burger, it is excellent. Chutney is located by many popular shopping streets in my favorite part of Stockholm. Has outdoor seating. A lunch-menu and an a-la-cartemenu. They make their own chutney which is really good.

Cozy place for a casual lunch - Edit
We were a bit dubious of the food when we ordered since it was hidden behind the counter a bit out of view. However, it turned out to be good, nothing extraordinary, but worth the trip. A few main entrees were offered to go with a small salad bar. The interior of the restaurant it a bit cramped, but we sat outside on the sidewalk which made for a nice dining experience.

It is a popular vegetarian place in Stockholm, but I guess it is not so much because of the food but because of its location and cozy atmosphere. Food is not bad, but smth is missed always, would it be flavours or smth else. But they always have some vegan cakes on menu which do taste great.
