Pretty good vegan food - Edit
I finally ate at Church, it seemed fitting as we were in the area for a funeral. Speedy, friendly service. We enjoyed the food. I had a burger and some fried olives on sticks, the husband had a healthy salad. Would visit again.

Great food, Quirky venue - Edit
Finally I got to go to Church! (now a running joke in my family) & the interesting decor was even better than expected. The service was really quick & the servers super friendly & helpful. I don't eat false meats so I went for the customisable buddha bowl, which has so many options I would happily have it again. It would be nice to see a couple more non-false meat options on the menu though e.g. a bean/chickpea burger. The bowl was very colourful & tasty, although the sauce was more of a dip so couldn't be poured over like a dressing. I also had the PBJ ice cream sundae, which was OK, but needed more "J"as it wasn't very sweet. For me, it was far too loud (I have sensitive hearing though), but it was a Sat evening, so I'm sure other times would have suited me better. Will definitely be going again though!

Lovely food in an interesting venue - Edit
The venue is in a restored warehouse on the edge of the Don. On the day we went, we were lucky enough to see a kingfisher darting down the river! Inside, the bar using lots of Christian religious iconography from across the world, some of it original, some of it tweaked (e.g. there's an alien in a crib and a pope with devil horns). If you find this sort of thing offensive, you won't like the bar. There was a massive menu choice, but we'd not had nachos since we became vegan, so that was the obvious choice. Really lovely chips with generous toppings and no sour cream and cheese overload. There were also two types of chili pepper on top, one warm, the other hot. A perfect size for sharing and if you were leaving room for desert. Which we were. The range of sundaes was impressive but we're both suckers for chocolate orange. Who knew crystallised orange was so nice? The sundaes are expensive at £7 each, but they are also very large. We didn't eat for the rest of the day. Overall, a nice range of food including burgers, fries, hot dogs and salad, and a good range of high quality teas.

A must visit - Edit
Overwhelming menu choice! Syco burger, especially onion rings, was very good. Upgraded to Ducked Up Fries and they were absolutely delicious and huge. Very cool decor. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend. Prices on steeper end for pub grub but worth it.

Quirky venue with fab food - Edit
Really cool place to eat, loved the fact it’s an old church. Loads of room to sit both downstairs and upstairs. It was the daytime so quiet but being a bar I can imagine it getting quite busy/loud. Lots of food choices and delicious to boot. Would definitely recommend and go again.

The best vegan burger ever - Edit
I came here a couple of years ago when they did breakfast and it was incredible then. But, my lord, I had a burger this time and I think it was the best vegan burger I’ve ever had in my years of being vegan. Plus it’s such a cool venue and the staff are super nice.

A vegan venue you will be telling everyone you bump into about - Edit
Drove a 200 mile round trip to get a burger, it sounded insane at the time but after eating here the only thing that was insane was that we had not done this sooner. The food was so good and the lady serving us (Amelia according to the receipt and who could not of been more pleasant and helpful) recommended chilli cheese fries which ended up being one of my favourite parts of the meal. Everyone was friendly the place was clean and the quasi religious iconography aesthetic was super cool, like you will never eat in another place that looks this cool ever. Can not wait to go back again and try some more stuff (I had the Gouda god burger, cheesy bites, onion rings the size of car wheels and the chilli cheese fries and managed to stuff in a cheesecake). Everything is vegan including the drinks which is also fantastic as you don’t have to keep asking does this have that and that have this. If your still reading this review I hope it’s because your still getting your shoes on ready to head over there.

Not impressed.
Read moreFood was very expensive.
Burger was the ominously named B12 burger, I ought to have known better.
A cold burger, swamped in treacle consistency yeast extract.
A few fries. That was it.
Ear splitting grunge at 12midday blasting from all corners of the nightclub.. errrr.... cafe. 😁👀Definitely will not be returning.

Hey there,
Read moreI’m really sorry you didn’t have the best experience with your visit, but I am unsure if you have the right venue for you review. This is Church - Temple of Fun, we opened in 2018 and haven’t moved locations at all. Since last summer we have our own in-house kitchen as our partnership with Make No Bones came to an end.
That particular burger doesn’t sound like one we serve (marmite doesn’t make an appearance anywhere on the menu).
We make sure to have a nice chilled atmosphere during the day with music, and our staff are very warm and welcoming. Hot drinks are available. Even during busy events our kitchen doesn’t see wait times as long as that.
I would appreciate it if you could amend you review accordingly.

The B12 burger was on your menu at the date I had it. Cold burger, overwhelming taste of yeast extract. Not for me thanks.

solid, consistent and great always - Edit
Me and my friends come in here every 2-3 weeks since lockdown ended last year for food and drinks and are never let down.
Read moreThe venue is always buzzing, the staff are always smiling, the drinks always slap and the food's always on point.
I only ever see this sort of consistency in chain restaurants and branded restaurants, so to find this in an independent is great to see, since i know my money and business is going back into the vegan community in the city rather than to some big wigs in London.
The only let down for us is finding a parking space when it's busy.
Pros: great staff, great drinks, great food

If we completely ignore the fact it is owned by a brilliant artist, the whole area is gorgeous aesthetically, with a huge bar with various options and a wide array of cocktails, the staff are lovely, the food is lush, you can play video games whilst drinking and eating, what more could you ask for?
