So delicious

Just happened to walk here while wandering - so glad we did! Bento boxes were so good. A tad pricey compared to street markets but not over the top. Would recommend!

Pros: All vegan options

Rare Place for delicious food

We ordered two different bento boxes. It came with a miso soup each. The fake meat was delicious and crispy and the soup well seasoned. I can really recommend this place especially the bentos. Wish we would’ve explored this place some days earlier.
Very nice service, quiet location and good prices

Pros: Only vegan, Pictures

Vegan bento is surprisingly authentic

Was very quiet after lunchtime, lots of Japanese cuisine made with mock meat on the menu. Good service, reasonably priced although some larger dishes were expensive. I assume they are meant for sharing.

Hidden gem

The menu has a big selection of food including rice and noodle dishes with vegetables and faux meat, also a variety of sushi. We ordered the carrot sushi and it was delish. I also had the 'rice with grilled chicken' which was a bit dry but also tasty. A bit more sauce would have made it better! The dish also came with a miso soup, which was not even mentioned on the menu. It was a positive surprise. I loved the soup. Definitely my favorite.
The prices are not as cheap as in some other restaurants but it's still really affordable.

Cute and fun

Its in a really cute location! It is actually the first time i had mock seafood like this and it is very different from all the other mock meats i tried. And i really liked the fried "shrimp"!! But the food did not really fill us up and it was pretty expensive compared to Bangkok prices

Vegan Japanese Food

Small restaurant with a large selection of vegan Japanese dishes. Though it is marked here as vegetarian they clearly state on the English menu that it is all vegan. The owner spoke English as well. We had a selection of sushi dishes with a great variety of mock fish. Not the cheapest, but very nice and interesting food.

Pros: All vegan, Large selection, English menu and friendly English speaking owner

Cons: Not the cheapest

All vegan Japanese food

If you plan to go to the China Town night market, you need to stop by here! It’s within walkable distance. All vegan. We got two bentos and an avacado roll. Both delicious, fresh, and well balanced. Prices are fair too. I wish I knew about this place sooner because it’s so delicious. Would highly recommend!

Pros: All vegan, Delicious food, Cheap

Cons: A bit difficult to find (but doable)

What a pleasant surprise

One of those hard to find hole in the wall places, with lots of fans but no air-conditioning, and a lot of love from the kitchen. Incredible sushi creations all vegan. Mock meat creations all vegan, soups, and something for everybody. Incredibly priced very reasonable. Crispy duck is amazing. Food comes out quick. I would return. I will miss Bangkok because of this place

Delicious and beautiful vegan food here!

In this place we founded big variety of vegan dishes: sushi, nigiri, vegan miso soup, mock meat dishes, fried tempura vegetables, fusion green curry. Al that we tried was so delicious and with good presentation. Owner was so good and helpful too. They also used many vegan seafood imitations, it was amazing. I’m strongly recommend this place.

By the way, we also check Mayo which they used for dishes - it was ‘Jay’ vegan Mayo.

Pros: Delicious and so beautiful vegan food, Big variety of vegan dishes , Flavourful

Cons: Expensive for regular dining

Good Chinese-style Japanese food

Use of mayonnaise (confirmed vegan) and ham in sushi is typical of Chinese-style Japanese food. Lots of vegetarian seafood using konnyaku (konjac) to imitate texture and aroma.

Pros: All dishes we ordered were delicious., Well prepared and good presentation. , Fresh oil used for tempura giving light colour.

Cons: Slightly expensive., Not authentic Japanese but good nonetheless., 2 dishes with dairy cheese: macaroni, potatoes

Price and taste are not equal

I tried wu-lung noodles in stewpot, my friend ordered avocado sushi, both were okay. My expectation was a bit high, when you look at the menu you expect more taste. Everything is vegetarian and vegan which is great. They use mock meat and mushrooms, that's fine too. But somehow I didn't find it extremely delicious or hasn't spesifik taste. The price was expensive when you consider of taste.

Pros: Everything is vegetarian and vegan.

Cons: Expensive.

same same but different

I'd like to think of myself as a sushi connoisseur (check out evoonrice on insta for some sushi adventures) and to be honest I was a little disappointed by Chijuya's range considering it touts itself as a "Japanese" veg restaurant. We had the taro, seaweed, and sesame uramaki - which were all okay and different to the standard cucumber and avo, but they all had the exact same filling to one another!!! I would've liked to see some variety with the fillings. I'm also not a huge fan of fake meats (ham & crab stick) which were included in all, but that might be a personal preference.

That being said, we did also have the fried tofu veggie plate which was delicious with rice!!! Mushrooms were fab

Pros: interesting veg versions of sushi, pretty tasty

Cons: more expensive than most , pretty bleak atmosphere/interior, mock meats which I personally do not like

good but maybe too realistic

All vegetarian but really looks like meat - the fake seafood isn't really my thing. The Chinatown location is the current one as of Dec 2015. A bit more expensive, though Japanese usually is. Good overall. Look at blue dot map to find exactly. Happy Cow map is too far West.

Cons: too realistic seafood

Not bad

Expensive, 150 baht is a typical price. Got the sushi which was tasty but expensive and a small serving. Lots of mock meats so the menu is probably more interesting if you're into that. If you're coming from the direction of Hua Lamphong it will be on your left - look out for lots of lanterns.

Pretty Good

Was pretty easy to find if u just look for the lanterns etc...

Had the enoki mushrooms and mixed tempura... Very nice.
A little pricey for Thailand and for the decor and vibe of restaurant but had a good meal!

Keen on being a bit more adventurous next time!!

Pros: Chinatown has hardly any decent places to eat.

Cons: A little pricey for what it is

mayonese topped, plain tasting, but a curiosity

It came as a surprise that my ebi temaki (mock shrimp and cabbage wrapped in nori) and mock shrimps contained mayonese. I don´t know if it was vegan or not (the waiter did not speak much any english) and anyway there was too much of it on the shrimps.

I got only one temaki and it costed 50 baht. Four mock shrimps costed 150 bahts. So it expensive compared to eg May Kaidee´s. The portions were so small.

The restaurant is easy to find: walk along Thanon Songwat and it will be on Soi between the river and Thanon Songwat. There is lots of yellow chinese lanterns hanging from the ceiling on the soi.

I would rather have cheaper sushi in some ordinary Japanese sushi restaurant in Bangkok. But I think I will visit this again, give it one more chance. And try not to have anything with mayo.

I visited this same restaurant 8 years ago when it was in the Sukhumvit area. Now the text " Located on the 2nd floor of Fifty-Fifth Plaza" should be removed from the description.

Pros: japanese veggie restaurants are rare

Cons: uses mayonese (I don´t know is it vegan), a bit expensive, a bit tasteless

a fine gem in meaty China Town

It is not easy for a veggie to find something to eat in this China Town Area. So Chijuya was a gem for us in really meaty China Town. It is 100% veggie, so no worry about soups and ingredients that may contain fish, shrimp and so on. Highly recommended.

Pros: 100 percent veg, good ingredients, nice people

Cons: very difficult to find, no alcoholic drinks, no nice surroundings

Simple but Good taste

To update, the brach which is now closed down is Sukhumvit branch, now they operate at Songwat road, locates near Mongkoltan temple, behind Lim Hi Lee Kitchen.

The place is small and very simple, but the food is nice.
Various dishes to choose for example different kinds of Sushi, Temaki, Grilled, Stir fried, Deep fried, and Soup.

They do not use 'fake meat' which made from flour in their dishes, but use tofu, konjac, mushrooms, and vegetables.

I love their Sushi, very well mixture containing vegetables, mushroom, tofu, and of course seaweed. :)

Vegan Sushi and more

I liked this place, sad to hear that it's gone. I think the location was the issue.

Located on the second floor of a quite mall, this restaurant offers sushi and other Japanese, Thai, and Chinese dishes. I tried two types of sushi, but on the first forget to mention to them to leave out the mayo (dairy). Their tempura was pretty good and included mock jumbo shrimp. I also liked the seaweed dish I ordered, see photos above. The majority of dishes seemed to include mock sea foods and other mock meats. Overall pretty good, though I wouldn't likely return unless already nearby.

Pros and cons...

Chijuya's vast menu is a mix of good, great, and not-so-great, so we can understand the mixed reviews here.

It's a pity: Japan has such a rich tradition of creative vegan Zen cuisine (Shojin Ryori), but none of that attention to detail was on display here. It's mostly high-fat, meatless renditions of standard Japanese fare

Our biggest complaint, though, is that Chijuya really isn't vegan-friendly - at least it wasn't on our two visits. First, the menu doesn't always make it clear which items contain dairy or egg, and there are some items that (in our experience) don't normally contain dairy or egg but do here, so that increases the challenge. Further compounding the difficulty is the fact that (at least on our visits) none of the staff spoke English, and even the fact that we said 'phom kin jae' didn't spare us a few surprise animal ingredients.

So, we would rate Chijuya 3.5 cows for lacto-ovo vegetarians who don't mind eating rather fatty meal, but only 2 cautious cows for vegans and health nuts.

Pros: Big menu

Cons: Not vegan-friendly

Disappointing

Went to this dimly-lit, empty restaurant one evening last month (Oct 2010) and was looking forward to a good meal because of the reviews previously posted. Had the lemon chicken that tasted like rubber covered in a chemical goo. Had another dish that wasn't as bad, but was bland and needed pepper, salt, and chili to make it have any taste -- not worth the 120 Baht.
The hours posted on the door showed that the restaurant closed at 10 pm and at 9:00 the staff started turning the lights out. And with cold and unfriendly service (uncharacteristic of Thais) we were surprised to find a 10% service charge added to our bill. When we complained saying that they started closing while we were in the middle of our meal, the girl just shrugged and waited to take our money.
This restaurant looks as if it's on its last leg and that the staff have given up on trying.

Pros: Location, Long menu

Cons: Bad food, Poor service, Expensive

nice place, some great options

I headed here after realizing that Tamarind was closed. it's way out on Sukhumvit in a slightly odd little mini-mall. can't say I was disappointed, though the special soup with "everything" didn't blow me away like I was hoping (some weeeird veggie "stuff" in there...). on the other hand, the sushi and sashimi was worth the trip out and makes this a great option for the city.

Pros: unique, nice range

Cons: a bit far out, menus are kind of grubby, varying quality
