Not bad - Edit
This is a literal hole in the wall. There is no seating so it’s all takeout or delivery. Ordered shrimp tacos and it was good but a bit messy to eat in the car. Wish they had a washroom so I could wash my hands.

Good filipino food - Edit
We have enjoyed our visits to the restaurant and my wife orders from it occasionally. Unfortunately the one closest to us closed and they opened this other restaurant under the new name. It's a good restaurant and one of the very few dinner date vegan restaurants in the peninsula.

Worth driving 3 hours for. - Edit
We live in Monterey and stumbled across this place on a road trip to the PNW. We ate our order in the car, came back and ordered more to have on the road trip. We crave this place often and find any excuse we can to get up here and enjoy it. The macaroni salad is to die for, and their katsu fills a serious void in my heart. It’s a to-go hole in the wall with a small 2 person folding set out front, family run. Absolutely perfect.

The Best Vegan Food in the Bay - Edit
Chef Reina is hands down the best vegan restaraunt in the peninsula. So many options and everything is good. You can’t go wrong with any item on the menu.

Vegan Filipino Comfort food - Edit
I found the restaurant so small from her previous restaurant but the cashier and staff were nice. The food was tasty and comfort filipino food so not much vegetable. It was tasty and considering that traditional filipino food is meat heavy this is does hit the spot if you crave filipino dishes but converted to vegan diet. My partner who grew up eating filipino food said the Tosilog really hit the spot in terms of her childhood food. I had Tocino which was like chinese pork barbeque with side of garlic rice. The garlic rice was simple but tasty. I also had the flan and lumpia shanghai. They were all tasty.

Cons: no seating, a little on pricey side and portion small, lacked vegetable dishes

Mind-blowing - Edit
Hands down, some of the best food I've ever had. My non vegan partner was equally impressed. The portions are a bit small but they are worth every penny. Hight recommend.
Read moreUpdate: we tried some of the other menu items and weren't as impressed as the first time. I think it depends on personal taste, but I can say that the tocino and the pork belly was still incredible! If the dish doesn't come with any sides it is nice to get garlic rice. If I were to go back I would get the tocino because of the variety it comes with (garlic rice, fried egg (how did they do that?), And vegetables). Overall it would be nice for the dishes to have more sides, but the flavor and technicality that goes into these dishes is commendable!

Vegan Gem - Edit
I stumbled across this place on the Happy Cow app and was like I have to try this place! I went for the Omni Pork Musubi and was shocked that it actually tasted like Spam Musubi. After living in Hawai’i for 11 years this is a treat but Spam is not …lol I come here for work after and can’t wait to try more options from this gem of a place. It is delivery or pickup only. #Veganuary

Authentic Tasty Vegan Food that needs more veggies on the menu - Edit
I recently went to Chef Reina with my friend. I had an underwhelming experience here. I really wanted to like it as there were good reviews on Yelp. I like supporting all vegan restaurants and perhaps my expectations were too high.
Read moreI had the Fillipino BBQ skewers meal. It was $16 before tax. It was basically tasty and flavorful mock meat on a stick. You get a couple of sticks. It came with garlic rice and a side salad that was basically a bunch of raw onions and a few slices of cucumbers. The BBQ skewers were tasty and flavorful. The garlic rice was okay and the side salad was disappointing.
The menu was a bit confusing and pretty heavy on mock meats. Granted am sure they were done right flavorful and tasty yet the menu lacked veggies. I also found the food rather expensive and not filling. There also is no proper seating except for a small table with two seats that might or might not be available otherwise you have to take your meal to go.
On a positive note the service was friendly which is appreciated.
My friend got the beefless basil meal. That was $15 before tax. I asked him what he would give it out of 5 stars and he said 3.5 stars so slightly better than me.
I think people like it that the food here is authentic flavorful food albeit mock meat heavy. Add some more veggies to the menu and perhaps some more seating along with either more food for the same price or lower cost than I would surely return to give it another review hopefully bumping up my review one or two stars.

I was bummed when Nicks on Grand closed but I’m so happy to see all of my favorites on Chef Reina’s menu. Everything I have tried I have enjoyed. Some of my favorites include the Ribz and Chic’n Katsu. Even my friends who aren’t vegan enjoy when we order from here.

One of the Best - Edit
I’m ethnic Filipino but was raised on Guam before heading to the Bay Area. So, my definition of comfort food is mixed among Filipino, Hawaiian, and Japanese. This place hits all the marks - BEST vegan representation of them all (how does she get her eggs to look sunny side up?). LOVE this place!

Flavorful - Edit
I got a chance to try Chef Reina's tofu sisig at Kapwa Gardens during the Oh, My Gulay! plant-based festival. That was their only menu item, but it was pretty darn good! I loved the flavor's and felt like the portion size was decent for the $16 price tag. I'll have to visit her location in Brisbane sometime to get the full experience.

Needed to make a run to SF and made a detour here.
Read moreHad a few emails with Chef Reina so it was nice to meet her too.
There was a lot on the menu I wanted to try.
Between my wife and I we split salad, bulgogi, bbq ribs, Mac salad, lumpia. We left pretty full.
The salad lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, avocado and thousand island type dressing👍🏼
Bulgogi was a hit! Ribs very tasty! Lumpia had a nice filling and the sauce nice and sweet. Mac salad had pineapple in it.
Dropped off a Happy Cow window sticker 🐮
