Best vegan pizza anywhere!

Super loud with live jazz band so hard to talk and you have to special order a whole vegan pizza not sold by the slice when vegan (by going to front of line) so it’s a bit of a wait. But, it is well worth the wait! Menu changes daily and is posted on-line. Hard not to eat half the pizza on the ay home, a whole pizza is required yet never too much to eat for one or two people one or two meals. You’ll see, you’ll have to force yourself to stop!

Pros: Best pizza ever, Incredible vegan cheese, Gluten-free vegan option

Cons: Hard to talk due to live band, Long lines, Have to buy whole vegan pizza & wait for it,

Insufficient vegan options

I love Cheeseboard but I wish they had more vegan pastries like Arizmendi. There’s the wolverines (which don’t really count) and a seasonal (very expensive) gingerbread cake. No muffins or pastries, though.

Pizza is good, though.

Overrated

Had vegan pizzas here 4 or 5 times. Good, but not to the level that it’s hyped. They charge more for the vegan pizzas and they don’t come with the extra slivers like the regular pizzas. Cheese is Butchers Son which is great. Crust is alright. They don’t do red sauce.

Pros: Cheese

Cons: Vegan pizza is higher price, less food, Crust is so so, No red sauce

Great Pizza

Some of the best vegan pizza I’ve had! Fast and efficient despite a huge line. My only criticism is I wish they let you order less than a whole pizza

Pros: Delicious, Efficient

Cons: Only a whole pizza available , Expensive

Vegan pizza is ok

It's great that they have a vegan option, but I've found it to be hit or miss. My wife really loves it, but I find it just ok and others who have tried it vary a lot of their opinion.

The wait time can be pretty long so make sure to visit the front first to let them know to prepare a vegan pizza.

All that said, this establishment is a worker-owned co-op and I will always stan them, even if they could work on their support for the vegan customers.

Very good pizza and baked goods

The scones are my favorite, but lots of good breads. The pizzas are good but I wish they would go a little lighter on the cheese!

BEST VEGAN PIZZA!

I love this place for making the best vegan pizza eva! They use butcher’s son cheese which goes very well with their pizzas. People who aren’t vegan and have tried their vegan pizza said that they can’t tell the difference. Eat it with a little bit of the green salsa for a bit of a kick! Can’t wait to go here again!

Pros: Vegan options , Great green sauce

Great vegan pizza

So happy Cheeseboard began offering vegan cheese. They were my favorite pizza place before going vegan and now I can enjoy them again. The house-made (by the Butcher's Son) cheese that they use melts really well and has a good flavor. Of the vegan pizzas I've has so far - it's the best.

Cons: Closed Sun/Mon

How to get a vegan pizza

A few months ago, Cheeseboard began to sell a vegan version of their Pizza of the Day using the mouth-watering local vegan mozzarella from the fine folks at The Butcher's son. I called before going to see how to order a vegan option because you have to wait in line at Cheeseboard. Here's what they recommend:

Go up to the front of the line (better to go to the workers on the left) and kindly ask them to make you a vegan pizza with the Butcher's Son mozzarella. They'll ask you your name and then they'll write it on the back of their cold case. They'll tell you to get back in line and that your pizza will be ready by the time you're up there. I have always had to wait longer, but that just means that I've already paid and gotten my drinks and a table and can just go to the front and get the pizza when it's ready. This might sound like a lot, but I assure you, it is WORTH IT! This place makes excellent pizza and it's worker-owned, and they're really awesome people! The Cheeseboard is vegetarian too- they never sell a meat pizza.

Great vegetarian pizzas, cheeses, and pastries

This place is delicious. They serve one pizza a day featuring fresh veggies. The cheese and pastry shop next door is amazing too. Lots of great options. This place has wonderful community feel to it and is always packed. When we went, it was kind of expensive. A whole pizza is $22.

Pros: Fresh veggies, Delicious

Cons: No vegan options, Expensive

What they have vegan is good

I had to go to the horrible, leather-selling shoe store that's two doors down from this place to pick up some slippers for the disabled woman I care for as my main income source and I was hungry so I decided to stop into Cheeseboard and see if they had something vegan because, though it's called "Cheeseboard," it just LOOKED like a place that would have some vegan stuff. And, yes, they did! I got this polenta/black bean/salsa thing that was really quite tasty. In fact, I think I'm going to imitate it at home. They also had a kale side salad that looked rocking but I didn't get it because I wasn't trying to spend too much.

After, I went upstairs in the same little shopping corner to this cupcake shop called Love at First Bite and they have this vegan chocolate cupcake there that is seriously, hands down, THE BEST chocolate cupcake I ever did eat. I mean, I'm not usually a chocolate cake eater, I prefer non-chocolate cake, but I have dreamed about this cupcake ever since I ate it, it's that good. They apparently also have a vegan ginger cupcake but neither of the times I went to this place did they have that. Ever notice how every place runs out of their vegan stuff first? Ummm, guys, maybe do more vegan and less animal secretions stuff. That's my suggestion.

Pros: cupcake show upstairs, worker-owned

Cons: not entirely vegan

I think this review is actually for the Juice Bar Collective which is a different restaurant than the Cheesboard (The Juice Bar is about a block away on 2114 Vine Street).

delicious pizza

I don't see the point in complaining that a place called "Cheeseboard" isn't vegan. If you want tasty, meat-free pizza in North Berkeley, look no further!

Pros: good value, creative

Cons: crowded
