DELICIOUS (but pricey)

I was in NYC visiting family for a while as I live abroad. I recently became vegan in Nov. 2017 so one of my friends was showing me different places. Champs was simply... the champ (I know that was terrible, I'm not sorry). I ordered the biscuits with sausage and gravy and it was so unhealthy and salty and delicious... without the death! MY friend had a seitan steak that was smothered with the same yummy gravy. I took a Philly Cheesesteak to go. My only regret is that I didn't get a shake!

Pros: Amazing vegan comfort food

Cons: Pricey!

Simply the best

Amazing, huge menu of diner classics - ALL vegan! The food was delicious and the portions huge. I've been here 3 times and can recommend the pancakes, the burrito and the waffles. Even the coffee is good which is not always the case in a diner. Yes it's small and gets very crowded but the service is great (in my experience) and it's worth waiting for a table and just enjoying the food and the atmosphere.

Pros: delicious food, huge menu

Cons: seating is very tight, can get crowded

Good Diner Food, Cramped Space

The food was good here, although I found it rather expensive for common dishes such as enchiladas. I was glad that I ordered take out because it's TINY in here. There was a huge line of people waiting to be seated and I found one of the servers rather rude when he told several of the customers to wait outside. It was snowing rather heavily and it was pretty cold. I probably won't be returning.

Pros: Tasty dishes, Extensive menu, Cute vibe

Cons: VERY cramped, Rude/impatient servers, Expensive

mozzarella sticks are a must

Incredible vegan junk food!
Mozzarella sticks, croquet madame, hippie hash, buffalo chicken sandwich, Philly cheesesteak, and fried chicken and waffles and biscuits are all the BEST goods on the menu!

My Fav

I love love love love Champs.. I haven't had a nasty meal yet. The food is amazing and taste even better then the non-vegan version. The only complaint I have is that they're always packed (so I gotta wait lol). Over all, Champs get a solid 5 stars from me.

Pros: All vegan!

it was okay

So the staff was not friendly to my mother and I, food was ok, but did not taste any different from what I have had before. The place was just okay to me.

Pros: Apple pie milk shake was tasty...

Cons: small establishment , long wait, staff seemed not interested

Always worth the wait

Every time I’ve been here, the food has blown me away! Must mention that the macdaddy bowl has my heart.

Pros: vegan diner, non-typical menu items, sweet wait-staff

Cons: sometimes long wait

decent food. nice atmosphere

So I went to Champs on a cold NY winter day and the place was packed. I was seated quickly which is a plus and customer service was pretty good. The menu had a pretty large selection so I went off the breakfast menu and ordered the cappuccino, loaded hashbrowns and strawberry doughnut. The cappuccino and doughnut was good but the hashbrowns were just ok. It didn’t taste bad but it wasn’t amazing either. I think this spot is good if you want the diner experience without having to stress over locating vegan items on the menu. Will I go back? Probably not because there are so many vegan options in NY.

Eh

Was super disappointed in this place. We came over to Brooklyn just for this experience, and it was so incredibly disappointing. Staff weren't very friendly, food was underwhelming (not flavorful and just felt like stuff I could do at home much better)-I know most people love this place, and I SO wanted to, but I definitely won't be back.

SOOO GOOD!

We were staying in Times Square but when we saw the menu for Champs Diner we just knew we had to splurge on taking a Lyft out there to try it - and it was SO WORTH IT! Even though we were there for a late breakfast, we couldn't pass up mozzarella sticks because that's one of those dishes that we've both missed in the years we've been vegan - and they were AMAZING. They use Violife cheese which is coconut based and it was crazy good! We ate two and kept the other two for later - and when we ate them late at night, the cheese STILL pulled apart in a stretchy kind of way! Our minds were blown. The chicken and waffles was awesome, the tofu scramble was a bit boring (would be nice with some veggies like mushrooms and onions and peppers) - but still good. My fiance got the Croque Madame and loved it. If you love naughty vegan food, go here immediately with an empty stomach!!

Awesome Place

I love Champs Diner, it’s a hidden gem in BK. The staff is nice and friendly and everything I’ve tried has been amazing. I’ve even brought non vegans and they have enjoyed it. Don’t leave without trying the Seitan Asada Fries as an appetizer. Coffee and Cappuccino are amazing.

Tip: There’s always a wait so get there early.

Diner food for all

Okay so sadly no pics cause i got it delivered and doesn’t look so nice. But food was awesome! Chocolate shake was so good and gave me all the feels. The SAG sammy was to die for. I felt like I was actually eating an sausage egg and cheese. I added hollandaise, I advise you do the same. Got the mozzarella sticks because I heard so many good things and they are probably one of my most missed non vegan foods. They were good, not sure what cheese they use but i wish they were better. My bf got the biscuits and gravy. That was good as well but I would have ordered something else before that. I had a dilemma this morning trying to decide what to eat. It was almost painful trying to decide. When I’m back I’m brooklyn I’m going here again to try something else I was eyeballing.

Pros: Reminiscent diner food

Cons: Expensive , Take out isn’t as nice as dine in, expected though

big menu and amazing food!!

I love this diner and all the food it has to offer. Ate breakfast here twice so far and it’s been delicious, even my non-vegan friend absolutely loved the “hashbrown hangovers”. Super nice and polite staff and can’t wait to eat here again!

so much choice

This place is the ultimate place for vegan comfort food - an all American diner offering massive portions of vegan goodness!! I was so full when I left I thought I may cry!! The buffalo tempeh wings are amazing, hash browns and Reuben sandwich all good too! Would love to go back and try more. Quite expensive but worth a visit if you're in NYC!

Great service and short wait

Considering how small the space is and how many people were there the wait was relatively short. Tons of options as well

Nice vibe and good food

I liked Champs - the staff were nice and it felt like the kind of diner you see in films. They had vegan versions of lots of classics, and I had the vegetable hash which was delicious. I also got a milkshake which was pretty good but not the best I've had.

I got mozerella sticks too but didn't like them as much as ones I've had elsewhere - it was also a small portion for the price. I really recommend the hash though!

Pros: Staff and atmosphere, Food

Cons: Price, Portion size for certain dishes

Pancakes to die for!

I ordered online the night before for a birthday cake pancakes delivery to eat for breakfast the next morning however they ran out of what I ordered and so cancelled my order which really upset me to be honest. But I was so desperate for those pancakes I ended up going to the restaurant myself!! It took about an hour too but I was so desperate for the pancakes - in the end, I got a tall stack of cookie dough pancakes. I couldnt even eat all of them because there were just so many of them!! They were so filling but so good, with cookie dough bites and chocolate chips embedded in them as well as decorating the plate. There were syrup on the table, ready for my pancakes, and stickers decorating the walls and windows about veganism which made me feel at home.

Pros: amazing food, filling, big portions, great decoration

Cons: problems with ordering, ran out of food, i dont have an endless belly volume

huge portions!

This is my daughters favorite place to eat when we visit NYC! You sometimes have to wait to get a table, but the food is well worth the wait! Everything I have tried is very tasty and the prices are good. They give you so much food. We all shared a few desserts as well. The only complaint is that you are squished in. Not a lot of elbow room. Staff is very friendly.

Pros: huge portions, great food!, reasonably priced

Cons: cramped space, sometimes the wait, such big portions, too full for dessert!
