Serves meat, vegan options available. Spanish tapas and western cuisine. Has a vegan pizza. Ambience is lively, dogs and children are welcome, and even though it's not the most Spanish of Spanish restaurants, you definitely feel you're in Spain and not a burger joint in the US. Open Mon-Thu 08:00-23:30, Fri-Sat 08:00-00:00, Sun 10:30-23:30.

Many vegan options - Edit
They offer many vegan and vegetarian options. They even have the typical “tortilla de patatas” vegan. I had the quesadilla and it was very tasty and a big dish.

OK meal in center - Comida vegana en el centro - Edit
Nothing special but variety of vegan options, open late so if you are stuck you will find an OK meal. I had the vegan chorizo pizza, the vegan cheese was too cheesy for my taste but with a bit of tobasco it tasted better.

Nada especial pero hay variedades de opciones veganas, y está abierto tarde cuando los otros restaurantes cierran en el centro. Comí la pizza vegana con chorizo vegano. El queso vegano no me gustó mucho pero con tabasco fue mejor.
Pros: Muchas opciones veganos - many vegan options, Abierto tarde - open late
Cons: Food is OK - La comida no es especial

Food was not very good. - Edit
The stir fry and noodles tasted old and they stuck together. The sauce was way too salty and food looked burnt. Not sure if it just applies to this plate but don’t think I’d go back

The worst meal ever AND overpriced - Edit
Absolutely terrible. I really don't understand the good reviews of this place. Hopefully there are some good things on the menu but everything we ordered was awful..the vegan pizza was so bland, didn't even come on pizza dough but more of a tortilla, barely any sauce, and the vegan chicken on top was flavorless.
Read moreThe combination platter was tiny for the price of over €13 euros and the hummus tasted very off. Just a few fried meatballs and a smattering of sauce. Finally, we saw them putting out vegan tortilla so we tried a slice and it was inedible. We never leave food behind but neither of us could finish it. No flavor, mushy, just awful.
Finally, everything was completely overpriced, like insanely. I would never recommend this place..though they have a decent amount of vegan.options it's clear that someone just thought it'd be a good idea to lure vegans in but never give any thought to the food they're making. It's a shame because the atmosphere is nice apart from the bizarre music. The coffee is decent. But basically, just avoid this place.
Pros: NO PROS
Cons: food was terrible AF, overpriced AF, worst meal ever

Food is just OK - Edit
I want to give praise to Caravanserai for having so many vegan options on their menu but I wish they'd put some more effort into it. We had a quesadilla and a pizza. The quesadilla was a tortilla with veggies and a slice of melted tofutti. It was nice. The pizza was made with vegan "chicken" (not good) and shreded tofutti mozarella (horrible on pizza, I have to admit). I had a hard time finishing the pizza.

Terrible and expensive - Edit
The waitress was happy, but the rest was totally terrible: the main dish no. 13 contains only two lupine croquettes, just enough to use plural on the card. Not hot or even warm, nearly cold. The quality and flavor was really bad. The fries tasted like fish. Never again!

great vegan food - Edit
Last time I visited the restaurant we order two meals and ask the waiter if one of them was vegan because we were not sure and told us that it was.
Read moreWhen we got the meal contained eggs and mayo so we asked to change the eggs for other ingredient but he didn't so we just eat salad and nuggets. The pizza dough was super hard and didn't have many ingredients just a bit of cheese and few slices of vegan chorizo. I was very disappointed because I used to love the restaurant when I wasn't veggie but everything changed and they don't take care about their custommers. I an not going back.
Pros: location
Cons: Not taking care about custommers, expensive, not helpful, bad quality

Awful overpriced meal - Edit
Sad times in San Sebastián. We had two platters which were awful! Each one was €14 and consisted of some bread, warm hummus, lots of raw onion and other things we couldn’t identify! I’d recommend you don’t waste your money here

Underrated! - Edit
Although not a vegetarian/vegan place they have 2 entire pages of their menu dedicated to these options.

not to recommend - Edit
I had the burger with a patty made of soy and onion and it was not good at all, the fries neither. All in all it was pretty tasteless and too expensive. Nothing to recommend.

We had two mains which were more than €10 each and were really small portions. Disappointed as if a plate is described as 'combo platter' you expect the portion to fill you up!

Nothing to write home about, but they have vegan pizza - Edit
I only went there for the pizza. There aren't many options for vegan pizza in San Sebastian (I think this is the only one) The have more veggie options on their menu, cleary marked, but some are vegan and some are not. They serve mainly saldas, burritos, fajitas and that kind of things. The are several pizzas to choose from. Pizza is not big deal. Not as bad a franchise pizza but not as good as an italian restaurant. Good option if you go with omnivores, as there is choice for everyone.
The place and the staff are nice.
Pros: They have vegan pizza
Cons: Nothing to write home about

Fajitas taken away, quite good - Edit
The restaurant has many vegan options (at least 10), we did appreciate it was clearly labeled even though we found it funny that they considered every vg meal as healthy (green leaf icon) including the very fat quesadilla. We just had tacos to take away and they were ok, the pink pieces had a strong take that we didn't like (looked like too much pork) but the 3 sauces, bread, "veggie chicken" and vegetables were quite good. Maybe it would have been better hot.
Read moreStill that's a nice spot to grab something vegan to eat and it's well situated (just next to the cathedral).

Disappointing pizza - Edit
The restaurant is nice and cozy and has an extensive menu with quite a few veggie options. I only tried the pizza so far and the dough is dry and probably store bought and the "chicken" was nothing special. For 11,90 in Spain, I expected more. The other things on the menu have yet to be tried.

Nice place for a city like San Sebastian - Edit
A nice place with recently increased vegan options. They have vegan meat replacements like seitan, vegan bacon, vegan burgers, vegan chicken, etc. And dishes like tacos, burgers, pizzas, nachos, vegan teriyaki chicken, etc. The menu has a section with all the vegetarian options clearly marked, and most of them are vegan too. Which is a lot to ask in a city like San Sebastian. I would totally come back.

Frozen, canned and tastless food - Edit
My husband and I went there for lunch. He ordered a sandwich (non-veg) and I had what was supposed to be a vegan plate based on the description but I am pretty sure some of the veggie balls contained cheese.
Read moreSo first of all, you need to make sure you ask the waiters to give you the full list of ingredients before ordering anything. But actually, I would recommend not going there unless you don't mind eating food that's come out of a can or that's come out of a package and been defrosted... everything tasted so bad that I could not eat more than a couple of spoonfull of it and I left my plate pretty much untouched.
The bread of the sandwich that my husband had was not nice either.
AVOID THIS PLACE !
Pros: Nice atmosphere
Cons: Horrible food, Expensive for what it is, Inaccurate descriptions

Vegan-friendly in a very ham-oriented city! - Edit
We had our hearts set on tapas, but finding vegan tapas was, sadly, no easy feat. In fact, we never did find anything that was entirely animal-product free in that category (and even for vegetarians, the spanish tortilla--made with eggs--is the primary option). But thankfully, we stumbled upon Caravanserai. Located between the train station and the old town on a pedestrian walkway, this lively cafe offers vegans a few options that, while not uniquely Spanish, will fuel you for a day of sightseeing. We were intrigued by their vegan burger offerings, and ordered the seitan-tofu burgers with fries. They were good, but nothing special. There are salads on the menu, plus vegan pate and crackers. Some dishes can be veganized by asking to be made without the addition of eggs or cheese.
Read morePros: Welcoming, Dog-friendly, several vegan options
Cons: Not exclusively veg, Can get noisy, Vegan options aren't Spanish!
