Caravan is awesome! - Edit
I’ve been coming here for 12 years. The food is great and staff are friendly, especially the ones who have stayed here a long time. And the live music is icing on the cake!

Veggie forward with flavor - Edit
I love the decor here. It has very old school vegan vibes. The menu is very veggie forward and lots of healthy options. I definitely was craving some green and leafy after a week of dining out and this place delivered. We got the Caravan sampler, an assortment of spreads with bread and crudite. We really like the miso tahini sauce, but the garlic sauce, smoked eggplant and hummus were also good. We didn’t care for the pesto or cashew cheese. The cheese was so mild it barely had any flavor. For our mains we got the macrobiotic platter with tofu and the quesadilla. The platter was just what I wanted: steamed rice and veggies and tofu with some really flavorful beans and the miso tahini sauce. I would be interested in trying their soups in the future. My partner really enjoyed the quesadilla and it came with a chili sauce that was really punchy—so good. Overall great experience and we’ll likely come back when we’re looking for veggie-forward fare.

Eat here and be reminded of all the wonderful, healthfully-prepared vegan fare that existed before the impossible/beyond. Incredible selection of raw dishes. Bohemian decor, really good vibes from the staff.

Restaurant of my Dreams - Edit
Caravan of Dreams has been here in NY for 33 years and there’s a reason. The food is creative classic plant-based made with whole, fresh ingredients, raw options, macrobiotic options. Delicious complex salads. The vibe is French-Gypsy-Romantic. Warm and cozy with an artistic twist. Love this place!!

Good To Be Back - Edit
I was last here in September 2019 with a small group of non-vegetarians/vegans who were nevertheless impressed with the food (why WOULDN'T they be?!) Fast forward 4.5 years when I found myself back (finally) to sample their raw offerings, as part of a Raw Food Worldwide Meetup on Saturday, March 9, 2024, which I would not have known about had it not been for a special someone (and yes, I know you're reading this, and you know who you are - but just in case, I'll just look at you and "whistle!")
Read moreAs it turns out, not only did I find everything I sampled to be delicious and satisfying, but I could not have been more impressed with the graciousness and professionalism of the waitstaff, who never made us feel rushed, and in spite of the fact that I sat there for almost five hours, talking with the organizer of the meetup, someone I now consider a new-found friend. Win-win all around. Last but not least, I very much like the decor and ambiance here. Whether or not you're looking for vegan raw cuisine, I highly recommend Caravan of Dreams. They also have cooked/prepared items available as well, which are sure to satisfy anyone.

Exceeded my expectations - Edit
Went here with a few friends for dinner and wow we all loved our entrees! I personally had the burrito. It's not cheap- $25 for a burrito is definitely on the higher side but it was really delicious, especially with the spicy sauce on the side! The sangria was nice too! We also shared a brownie sundae which I would say to pass on, the ice cream was a very icy texture and the flavor was nothing special. But go here for the entrees, and the wonderful ambiance! I can see how this place has been around since 1991.

Can’t wait to go back to try more things! I love the variety on the menu. Since it was my first time, I decided to try the raw sampler platter. (See photo) it was great but didn’t feel like a full meal for $25. We also got the burrito with seitan which was really big & very tasty!

Vegan since 1991, with live music too - Edit
This is such a nice place! I love the atmosphere and that it has been in business since 1991 -- it feels like a real community place. I went twice in one day, and there were different duos of musicians playing each time -- so nice! They have a large menu to choose from, with many healthy, veggie-filled options, and everything I tried was good. They have a fixed price menu for brunch ($19) that comes with salad, coffee, and fresh-squeezed orange juice. Also, the brownie sundae was really nice.

Great food and service - Edit
Delicious food, nice atmosphere, and very friendly and helpful server. The seitan and chorizo were especially good. Quesadilla was a little spicy for my taste (I'm VERY sensitive). Hibiscus tea was very flavorful; they added a slice of orange which was a nice touch. Highly recommend.

Tons of Gluten Free options - Edit
Such a fun restaurant. I was so relieved on my return to NYC to find it had survived the pandemic. They asked the questions that gives every Celiac confidence. I got the lasagna and Caesar salad (modified with tempeh for GF), and the split green pea soup. Our waiter was excellent. Made the visit memorable.

Food that heals! - Edit
It’s nice to find a restaurant that uses all vegetables in their meals and as entrees.. no faux meats here. The Raw entrees (manicotti, and raw zucchini garden pasta) will bring your palate in tune to how are bodies need to be fed. The ambiance is cozy and the live piano music sets a relaxing and enjoyable tone. This is a staple that needs to be experienced!!!

One of the originals - Edit
I make a point of visiting CoD with my vegan bestie whenever I get back to the city. Most times the food is phenomenal, but there are occasional disappointments. Yesterday I had the breakfast burrito at brunch, and it was sublime. I had berry pancakes too, but found them dry even after maple syruping them.
Read moreMy main reason for four instead of five stars is the price. We paid $16 for a plate of pancakes a la carte. I wanted to try the mango lassi, but couldn’t bring myself to pay the $12 menu price. I don’t begin to know what NYC restaurants have been going through during the pandemic, and I do know they’re paying higher prices for everything now; but I know I can’t afford meals like this one more than every now and then.

Love it - Edit
About 15 years ago I went raw for the summer. Caravan of Dreams was a perfect find for that time with their delightful desserts. I have ventured back recently too and have tried a few different items - always great. I tend to eat in New York alone and before a crowd like for a late lunch/early dinner. I never have any lines or waiting.

Bad evening! - Edit
The menu looks great and the place has a nice friendly ambiance. I'm not sure if it was a bad day in the kitchen but the food was really underwhelming and expensive.

Nothing crazy, but I was a big fan of the potato jalapeño omelette. My mom likes the ceasar salad. She ordered a vodka soda and they charged her the same price as my blueberry mojito, which seems like too much. Mojito was tasty, but I’ve had better
