Healthy vegan food - Edit
If you're looking for a healthy, whole foods vegan restaurant, this is one of two in the city that really meet that criteria. It's not going to scratch the itch as much if you're wanting some comfort/junk food, but the options they have are great! The inside of the restaurant is beautiful (might be my favorite in the city). It's not somewhere I go back to again and again, but when I go, I'm happy with it.

I laughed when I saw another review that criticized the absence of tofu, tempeh and seitan. This is a cutting edge plant based restaurant with wonderful choices. 6 of us ordered out during the pandemic. We had two burgers, two polenta, the kids tacos, sides of sweet potatoes and roasted potatoes and two desserts. Every thing was fantastic. One of our crew added salt and for the most part there was only a little salt on each dish. It must be in the vegetarian category because some of the dishes had honey in them. Loved everything and got plenty of protein and was very satisfied. We will come again!

I can't remember what it was called that I ordered but it was like a bowl of all kinds of Italian things and it was like Italian comfort food to me. I also got the French silk pie. The staff was also very very friendly although my husband felt a little uncomfortable because of the tree hugger kind of vibe he did say he would go back again. I was completely in my element as the bohemian that I am.

On road trip from Boston to Sedona. We really, really needed a fix of healthy food. Not too much vegan fare to sustain us over the last two days. Thanks to Happy Cow we found Cafe Gratitude as we were approaching Kansas City and hungry for lunch. It was a welcome respite for two road warriors and their dog. Everything we got was fabulous - fresh and healthy. Bruchetta, potatoes, veggie burger, salad. Thank you for being there when we needed you!

This is one of the best cafes I've been to this year! The way their menus are set up is so sweet that it will instantly make your day better. Definitely try the bruschetta! It was so delicious! The I am alive drink was also very tasty.

Read moremy cousin and i started off with the “i am present” appetizer, then i ordered “i am whole” while she ordered “i am warm-hearted.” we splurged at the end and got vanilla milkshakes.
everything was so good and it was nice to see a lot of whole food entrees along with the mock foods. the staff was so kind and the location is very charming.

My only two qualms are that are server was not very friendly and that my husband is allergic to cashews and all of their cheeses are cashew based. So sad. Would love to go back more but probably wouldn’t be able to.

I had the I am Whole bowl and I am immortal drink. Loved everything about it. The bowl was a perfect mix of cooked, raw, roasted, pickled, fermented foods with a yummy garlic sauce. And the immortal drink with reishi, shilajit, ormus, coconut milk...so comforting. Loved it so much. Just what I needed.
My husband had the I am Warm Hearted - grilled polenta with spaghetti squash....it was DELICIOUS!!!
The I am strong tacos were were yummy and flavourful as well. Service was great as well. Cant go wrong. Love this place.

PS they were excellent the next day as well.

Cafe Gratitude has been here in KC for a decade now and has consistently provided our town with an option for vegan dining... even before there were other vegan restaurants and food trucks. In this cow-town, CG were pioneers and we'll always appreciate them for that. Plus, the food and atmosphere are awesome!
