Everything about this little café is perfect. The design, the music, the atmosphere, the staff, the food, and how the food is presented.

Perfect afternoon treat! - Edit
With being in the area of Cafe Gallery Sun and seeing the photos of their delicious cakes, I had to stop by! And I'm so glad I did. The chocolate cake was fudgey and dense without being too rich and was beautifully balanced by the fresh fruit. The staff were lovely and welcoming and the atmosphere is cosy - there are photos of the food hung up to help you with the impossible task of choosing what to order. Definitely stop by if you're in the mood for an afternoon pick-me-up!

“Top rated” for a very good reason! - Edit
This little cafe is brilliant. The food is amazing and the restaurant itself is so cozy. The pasta that we had (mushroom with vegetables and creamy sauce) was fantastic. The sauce was subtle and so tasty. The avocado sandwich was toasted and had a sauce on it that took it to the next level. Even the salad appetizer was so so tasty. Very very helpful staff. This was ten out of ten! Wish we were here longer so we could come again.

Lovely space, yummy food - Edit
The space is lovely. The restaurant is located in a small street in what seems to be a refurbished machiya. The service is top notch, very attentive. During my stay here, I visited twice already, but I think it's becoming my go-to dinner spot. If you want a café where you can spend a few hours, this is it!

Beautiful Charming Café - Edit
This beautiful little café is situated on a quiet street and has a lovely, cozy interior with very warm, friendly staff.
Read moreWe were greeted with smiles and made to feel very welcome, here.
We ordered the pasta of the day which was an elegant mushroom cream pasta and it was exceptionally delicious. It came with a starter salad and both dishes were beautifully presented with very fresh ingredients.
For dessert we tried the carrot cake and it was warm, spicy and artistically plated with dollops of cream, nuts and dried fruits.
Although the menu is limited, we loved the experience and would absolutely recommend it. We look forward to visiting again when we come back to Kyoto!

Good for lunch stop - Edit
Not a big menu but what it does serves is very good. Fully vegan and the meat substitutes were close to what it's trying to resemble. Had one lady doing it all and still managed to pay each dish and customers a lot of attention

Stopped in mid-afternoon on my way back to hotel after a couple of hours hiking/walking around Kyoto. I was the only customer. Super pleasant space. I needed a recharge and the food delivered. Fresh, tasty salad and yummy pasta.

Lovely little cafe - Edit
This little cafe is in a beautiful quiet back street and is very peaceful. The main meals come with a first course salad which we did not realise. This was a nice bonus! The daily pasta was very simple and fresh. The sandwich was a little dry but we were told in advance that they had run out of ham and it would be sausage instead. Beers were nice and cold and served in very fine glasses. Great place to hang out!

Nearly perfect - Edit
Being perfect requires more than just serving good food. The food needs to be exceptional and so do the presentation and service. And that's exactly what "Cafe Gallery Sun" in Kyoto offers!
Read moreThis small restaurant in a side street looks absolutely beautiful from the outside and the inside. It's simply a delight to be here, surrounded by the beautiful decor, the inspiring books and subtle art work.
During my visit the (English) menu listed sandwiches and snacks. I ordered the avocado sandwich, which comes with a delightful salad to start. The sandwich itself is exactly like a sandwich should be: tasty bread with even tastier veggies inside. All ingredients seem to be of very high quality and even the presentation is spot on.
Since everything was so nice, and I felt like supporting this small business, I ordered dessert. The waitress suggested the chocolate cake. But instead of just a bare slice of cake I was presented with a beautifully laid out piece of chocolate with cream and fruits. The taste was exquisite!
So why is "Cafe Gallery Sun" not perfect but "nearly perfect"? Well, the table was wobbly and they're not open for dinner. Because if they were, I'd go right back the same day!
Pros: exceptionally good taste, beautiful place to be, modest prices
Cons: not open for dinner

Charming place - Edit
We had the pasta of the day with a variety of mushrooms and it was delicious! It was also served with a gorgeous fresh salad and slice of baguette. The cold ginger tea with cinnamon sticks and cloves was refreshing. Coffee was served with oat milk on the side. Streamline clean atmosphere, but still with character. Definitely recommend. Despite being a vegan place, the meat-eater in our party also loved it.

Impeccable - Edit
Had a transcendent experience here. All for 2000 yen ($16 or so). Sandwiches are perfect, the 'ham' is some of the most interesting soy I've had. Wonderful atmosphere with light, upbeat music and museum painting coffee table books to lookover. The chocolate cake came with a fresh fig and some pear slices, just beautiful. Had a nice short conversation with the hosts (place wasn't very busy) in Japanese, but they speak English just fine. Great place, can't recommend highly enough!! It is simply "Cafe Gallery" however, I believe.

Atmosphere was great! Loved the woody feel. I was almost in disbelief it was vegan! I got the avocado sandwich and fully double checked it was vegan because the cheese was so good! Great value for your money! The sandwich came with a lovely salad.

Multiple visits, great food and sweet space - Edit
We loved it here! We came for lunch multiple days. The ham sandwich was amazing, the avocado sandwich was also great and the pasta was my favorite. Lots of fresh veggies, and a beautiful space with lovely books to look through, and kind staff. It was quiet both times we went, feels like a little oasis. One note: This place is listed as 'Cafe Gallery San' on Google maps.

Have visited twice, and while another nearby vegan restaurant was so full that there was a line outside, the Architects Cafe was empty! Both the pasta and the avocado sandwich are to die for 😍

Delicious and tucked away - Edit
The food here was delicious. We came in for lunch and had the pasta of the day and the ham and veg sandwich. Both were very light and refreshing. It’s a small space but it must not be well known yet because it was pretty quiet. We were the only two people for a majority of the time we were here.
