Great food! - Edit
We ordered the vg meatballs with garlic bread for apps. They were filled with flavor and the bread melted in our mouths. We also ordered the vg tuna fish sandwich and vg chicken sandwich. Both were mouth watering and left us satisfied.

Very good sandwich - Edit
Got the vegan tuna salad sandwich with the harira soup on the side and let me tell you, it was delicious! We initially came because we wanted vegan Mac and cheese but that's only served after 11am. So we were to early. But I highly recommend the sandwich, I'm craving it right now😄our waiter was a delight, fun and talkative ❤️

Good food, iffy service - Edit
Food was good! Got the vegan burger, and the chipotle mayo was delicious. Also had very fresh avocados. Some vegan options aren’t available until after 3pm, which is a bummer. Service was kinda bad, we were ignored after our order was initially taken, but if you don’t have a lot of needs you’ll be fine.

Pretty good - Edit
The food was pretty good. We ordered it for delivery, so my opinion is based on the food *delivered to me, not served. My boyfriend and i were pretty pumped when we saw the menu. there were really tasty-sounding options so we ordered a bunch to give them a try. The first few bites of everything were pretty good. The vegan sour cream was delicious on the vegan quesadilla. If you aren’t a fan of spinach, I wouldn’t recommend the quesadilla unless you ordered it without spinach. my favorite was the avocado panini. the vegan BBQ “chicken” bites were really good, but they were too spicy for me so I couldn’t have more than 2 bites (sadness). after like 5 minutes, everything kind of got disappointing texture wise. I have to imagine eating at the restaurant would have better results than delivery.

I wish I lived closer - Edit
This place is wonderful, and has the exact vibe I love in a restaurant. When I went, both inside and outside seating were packed, but there was not a wait for a two-person table. Our waiter was super sweet, and the food was wonderful. You will not get tired of options here. Would give five stars if I could.

Though it’s not fully vegan, I one hundred percent love this place. They have enough vegan options for me to not get bored of the menu. Come for breakfast or come for dinner; either way, you’ll have good food!

Awesome rockin’ food - Edit
Firstly- fabulous vegan food. I want to give it 5 stars but it’s not totally vegan. That said, anyone would be happy and satisfied eating here as they cover it all. I had the yellow gazpacho and vegan quesadillas which were both fantastic. Finished with the coconut covered tofu bites. Fun, great servers, and excellent food.

Friendly Neighborhood Restaurant - Edit
Busboys & Poets is one of my favorite restaurants in DC. They have a big menu with something for everyone. Everything is clearly marked with vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free. Staff is friendly and the place has a comfortable, laid-back vibe. I like bringing out-of-town guests here.
Read moreI'm a fan of their Vegan Tuna Salad Sandwich and Tempeh Panini. But the absolute best thing is their VEGAN NACHOS! Vegan cheese and vegan sour cream, and I love the unique black-eyed peas. I'm hungry just thinking about it. Best nachos I've ever had, hands-down.
Pros: friendly, menu clearly labeled, lots of options
Cons: loud inside, busy

The vegan egg wrap was quite good, although the fries were a bit too greasy. I will certainly come here again if I'm in DC; there are many vegan options to try.

Honestly I want to move to D.C. now just so I could eat here every day! If I could, I would rate this place 20 stars! Usually when I go restaurants that have vegan options, there's usually about 1-3 things I'm able to eat on the menu but I love that this place offers such a wide variety of vegan friendly options to choose from. I had their vegan Avocado panini with vegan mozzarella and home fries and it was absolutely incredible! I also really enjoyed looking through their book store while waiting for our table. :)

If you've been to a Busboys, you've been to them all in terms of menu offerings. However, they all have a slightly different vibe. This one has way more outdoor seating than the Langston Lofts- which has none! Also, this one has an upstairs.

great food and atmosphere - Edit
Great vegan options and atmosphere. Vegan items are clearly labeled. the staff was very friendly from the front, to the server, to the others. The coconut tofu appetizer is fantastic. I also loved the tempeh pannini. I didn't like the sweet pickle they served with it. the sweet potato fries are average. I did like they served the fries with cinnamon on top. I would recommend for vegans and nonvegans.

Great food, great place - Edit
Stopped in for a nice relaxing dinner after a hard day of sightseeing, and it didn't disappoint. We had the quinoa and mixed veggies (asparagus, spinach, tomatoes, roasted butternut squash, zucchini), as well as the sweet potato pizza (a vegetarian pie made of sweet potato, caramelized onions, kale, walnuts). Both were excellent. Lots of books for sale on the side, and a rather boisterous bar too. Would go back in a second.

Thank goodness - Edit
I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area so I'm used to having a lot of vegan options. I was in DC for work, staying near Union Station, and walked the mile (in very cold weather) to eat here three times in three days. I love this place. It is even more diverse than Oakland! My first dinner I had the quinoa bowl on the recommendation of the waitress. It sounded bland, but I decided to get it anyway, along with the coconut tofu bites as an appetizer. They brought out the bowl first and when I asked about the tofu bites, they brought them out within minutes, very apologetic and gave them to me for free. I wasn't tripping on it, and certainly didn't expect them to comp the dish, so I was impressed by that. The bowl was delicious -- light and healthy but still very tasty. The tofu coconut bites were almost better as a dessert as they were way sweet. Good, but I don't think I'd order them again. The other dish I loved was the tempeh panini. I don't love tempeh, it's always very hit and miss for me, but this sandwich was delicious. This will be my go-to place when I am in DC.

Well worth a visit! - Edit
After a long day walking around in the heat of Washington, we had a quick search for a restaurant that served both meat and vegan options. Busboys & poets was the closest and after a quick look at the menu it definitely looked worth a shot. On arrival the staff were very friendly and our server, Vonda, was lovely. She was very insightful about the menu and had a great personality! The vegan nachos were a good starter, although it may be worth asking for more vegan sour cream. For the main I had vegan meatballs and penne pasta with garlic bread. Once again, very nice although I was pretty stuffed by now. One criticism is that the meatballs crumbled pretty easily, but nothing major! Finally, I had the vegan brownie and soy ice cream for desert. Absolutely stunning, massively recommended by myself and my server.

Had brunch at Busboys and Poets on Sunday and as usual we had good service and some tasty american vegan fare. You can choose whole food plant based salad entrees to faux meat sausages and bean soups. If you are a coffee drinker then you have to experience the BIG DADDY with dairy free milk. They have something for everyone, vegans and carnivores. It's a fun place, on a Sunday for a family from the BURG. Love it!

Yum! - Edit
This place had great atmosphere and wonderful service. Our server was very nice and vegan options were very clearly marked. We had been walking around seeing the sights all day and were starving so we started out with the hummus plate and some cocktails. I had the dark and handsome and it is a new favorite! A twist on a dark and stormy. For dinner my husband had the tempeh panini and I had the vegan pepperoni calzone. It had the perfect mix of pepperoni, cheese and veggies. I loved it and wish I lived in the area so I Could get it again. My husband was happy with his choice too. Would love to go back and try the vegan brunch.
