Every time I get food here it is amazing. You can’t go wrong. I mean mozzarella sticks! Fries with Ol’ Bay! Fully loaded Philly Cheesesteaks! Go you won’t regret it!

We managed to order lunch from Buddy's on the day before their very last day open. (Their last day will be 9/17/23.) We had the classic cheesesteak with cheese whiz, the chicken cheesesteak with provolone whiz and banana peppers, the mozzarella sticks, and the fries with old bay and ranch. The two of us enjoyed half of the food for lunch and saved the other half for dinner since the portions were so generous. We loved the classic cheesesteak the most, but everything was excellent. I am so sad this place is closing and we won't get to eat this great food again!

I'm an east coast kid and miss east coast sandwiches all of the time, since going vegan that void became even larger, but Buddy's Steaks fills that void 100%, good peeps, great food, and don't miss out on the dingers delis hoagies and to die for mozzarella sticks!!!

I had been eyeing this place since last August when I first came to Portland. This was my third time here since then and I was so excited to try them this time. Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed. We ordered a classic cheesesteak, dingers Italian hoagie, fries with cheese on the side, and mozzarella sticks. We all agreed that nothing blew us away. The cheesesteak was good but nothing out of this world. The cheese sauce on the steak was also cold which was a little strange. The flavor of the cheese sauce was great, however. The cheese fries were greasy but probably the best part of the meal. The mozzarella sticks were good but lacked flavor. I thought the Italian hoagie was just okay but my sister really loved it. Glad I got to try them finally but wouldn’t feel the need to return.

I told my husband if I'm ever on death row, I want my final meal to be Buddy's Cheese steak sandwich with cheesy fries and a good beer. One of the few places I'll drive all the way from Hillsboro for. And to top it off they're really nice and there's a little beer hut to get a beer with your food. OMG. Can I please be a silent investor in this place? That cheese sauce is liquid gold.

Read moreYou're out of your damn liberty bell mind! Yet somehow, Buddy here has managed to create a cheesesteak that is finger lickin', non-dairy cheesin' bangin' that turned out to be one of the highlights in my PDX eats.
We ordered a regular cheesesteak but you could also go with their "chicken" option as well. Each cheesesteak is topped with plant-based meat, sautéed onions, and their cashew cheese sauce. You can also opt for a non-cashew option if you have a nut allergy.
First bite fresh off the oven - WOW. What on earth was I eating?! The plant-based meat was delicious and the Philly flavors were all there for me.
Not sure how they made their cheddar cheez but it is on point. Maybe it's just a load of nutritional yeast in their cashew sauce, but either way, it looked and resembled like cheddar and the gooeyness of it all permeated the entire toasted sandwich.
Buddy - you did it. I am in love with this cheesesteak. Whether you're a long-time vegan or trying to dabble into a more plant based lifestyle, this will prove that you don't need to sacrifice flavor for your health or the animals (though let's be real, this is vegan junk food at it's finest lol).

The food is sooooo good. Like I mean soooo good. We got the chili cheese steak with the classic cheese and added peppers. Amazing! Also the mozzarella sticks are probably the best ones I’ve ever had! Fast and friendly staff delivered delicious mozzarella sticks and tasty cheesesteak. We added mushrooms and were able to share one order of cheesesteak and mozzarella sticks between 2 people and it was a perfect size. Super cute little spot in the rose city food park as well. Overall great comfort food.

I literally dream and drool thinking about when I’ll get some of Buddy’s food again. Absolutely incredible. I am blown away by how delicious and satisfying every thing I’ve had from there is. I’ve had some pretty terrible vegan cheesesteaks so I came with low expectations, but I am so happy I was set straight here. Perfectly sliced flavorful meat and perfect house made cheese. Mozzi sticks were fantastic as well. Great breading. My only critique is they should really add more cheese. We ordered extra cheese and it’s still a very small amount for a cheesesteak imo. I would gladly eat here every day. Highly recommend.
