Great Brunch Spot - Edit
Such a cute and delicious brunch spot! It is a little small, but the patio seating has plenty of shade, and the sweetest cats that lurk around! They do tend to beg and steal, so keep an eye on your food, but I love cats, so having them lay in my lap or on my table was totally welcome. If you don’t like that, or you’re allergic, there’s indoor seating as well! The “sausage” biscuit had my stepmom questioning whether or not it was really vegan! Absolutely will be returning.

Yes, it's all vegan! - Edit
When visiting New Orleans recently, we were excited to see Breads on Oak come up in our searches. (Fresh bread! Sandwiches! Pastries! Coffee!) However, we were a bit flummoxed when we came in and saw several items on their menu and in their display case bearing the "V"/vegan marker—and their menu board touting their "hormone-free" meats.
Read moreHuh? Aren't they completely vegan? What's going on?
We confirmed with the staff that everything is, indeed, vegan! (They weren't always, though, and still need their menus and signage updated.) And, my goodness, it's all delicious. My partner and I had a couple of sandwiches each and multiple pastries. Our infant son contentedly sat in his highchair and quietly ate the food we shared with him, savoring every bite of bread and baked good handed to him.
The staff was super friendly. They seemed to have devout regulars who visited while we were there, swinging by on their lunch breaks to grab something to eat and catch up on the latest news. It felt cozy and familiar.
While not spacious by any means, there is plenty of seating, including a patio. (They also have kitties who hang out there!) I believe they only have the one highchair, which the staff was quick to point out to us when they saw us walk in with our young son. The bathroom is roomy but note that there is no changing table in there (for those with little ones in diapers). There are steps to get inside and no ramp—though their patio may be accessible.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience! It's just a shame it was an hour away from our hotel or else we'd have gone every day.

Seriously, go there now. - Edit
Unbelievably delicious. At first I didn't realize every thing was vegan -- once I did .. I went back up and pretty sure I ordered one of everything. Every single thing was wonderful. Just go.

Loved it! - Edit
If I had a place like this near me, I’d be in trouble! I travel a lot and have been to many vegan restaurants all over the country, and this one impressed me a lot with it’s unique items... I’ve never really experienced one so focused on breads and baked goods. Everything I ate was scrumptious, and prices were reasonable.

The BEST restaurant ever - Edit
I was visiting Nola for a few days and I am SO glad I explored and stopped by Breads On Oak! This is the most delicious brekkie food and pastries I’ve ever had, including non-vegan! Nothing we had was bad. My non-vegan boyfriend is even still talking only good things about this place. It’s fabulous! i was so glad to experience and try the infamous King Cake. And so cute looking, great atmosphere, super friendly staff!

I had a fantastic time at Breads on Oak! It's in a cool part of town which is worth the trek. The atmosphere and decor are very welcoming and the staff were wonderfully friendly.

Amazing Vegan Croissants - Edit
I'll start by saying that the quiche and burger we had here were...fine. Nothing special, nothing to go back for. But the crossiant. Now that's something that I'll return for again and again when we visit New Orleans. I offered a bite to my friend, and I lost half my croissant, because he didn't want to give it back (it's that delicious!). The pastries are definitely the standout here, and major props to them for veganizing croissants successfully, which isn't an easy thing to do at all!

Don’t miss this incredible bakery! - Edit
Wow! We were blown away by the amazing baked goods, biscuit breakfast sandwiches, and yummy treats served up at Breads on Oak. We ate here both of our mornings in New Orleans and it was even better the second morning! The pumpkin cheddar biscuit was to die for! Good luck choosing only one thing from their menu. Staff is also extremely friendly and if you sit on the side of the cafe you can watch them bake! They were happy to answer questions and chat about how they make the amazing food. Just a quick note: they only take cash tips, so bring cash to show gratitude for the friendly staff!

Amazing sweets! - Edit
Food and service were great on a busy Sunday morning. Seating was limited - probably around 30 spots. The pumpkin cheddar biscuit sandwich was pretty good but everything else I got (cheese grits, Boston creme brioche, walnut brownie, and cinnamon roll) were amazing!! It was hard to limit myself to just three treats. Definitely stopping here each time I’m in New Orleans.

Seriously impressive baked goods and breakfast sandwiches. I sampled a variety of things here but one of my favorites was the “shrimp and cheese” brioche (all vegan of course). It was absolutely amazing, workers are friendly and they have a large daily selection.

Omg, the brioche! - Edit
This all vegan bakery is amazing—the highlight of my trip to New Orleans. My friend and I split a quiche, live veggie sandwich, and apple strudel brioche. Everything was divine. My friend who is not vegan, couldn’t believe the brioche was vegan. This is a total treat for any vegan visitor to NOLA.

Amazing! - Edit
Everything was absolutely delicious, and their prices are extremely reasonable. In fact, we went through the line a second time after our initial pass, accumulating quite the feast. We got savory breakfast sandwiches, sweet pastries, lattes, and a loaf of bread. And we'll be back tomorrow morning on our way out of town! Wish we had found the place sooner!
