Brac gets everything right - Edit
Huge portions, good prices, great food, nice decor, friendly staff, and a menu option allowing you to try a salad, first and second course all for a reasonable price.
Read moreThe spaghetti with fennel, raisins and breadcrumbs was a unique and surprising combination which proved to be my favorite food I tried there, followed close by the lasagna.
The flatbreads come with generous amounts of gooey cheese, and were not like anything I have tried before.
The first and second courses were so good that I can overlook the salads--a mediocre creamy beet salad and an avocado carpaccio anchored in a dollop of chunky hummus.
Well worth a stop while in Florence.
Pros: Great menu allows you to try three separate course, Delicious Food, Good price
Cons: Not-so-great salads

Delicious food in a lovely atmosphere - Edit
My partner and I both got the lunch special where you can choose 3 menu items - salad, first course, and main course - for 15 Euros. It is all brought to you at once on the same plate - so you'll have to wait a bit for everything to be made.
Read moreThe food was delicious - I had a sliced avocado salad, lasagna made with fresh pasta, and type of bread with tomato sauce, mozzarella, and eggplant on it (pizza-ish but with a different dough). My partner got a beet salad which he did not love, as well as the same pizza-ish dish and spaghetti with several interesting ingredients that I cannot recall, which he enjoyed.
Also we asked about the rennet - and they said all cheeses used are made with vegetarian rennet.
The restaurant also has a selection of books (I think it may also be a bookstore) so it was fun to browse the books while we waited for the food. It had a lovely ambiance overall.
Pros: Delicious food, Nice ambiance, Large portions

Make sure you reserve a table, it's definitely worth it! - Edit
€15 for a selection of three dishes (salad, pasta/rice a baked dish) on one plate. The flavours and presentation are amazing. Service is perfect. Lovely setting. Highly recommended. Plenty of options for both veggie and vegan.

Almost missed it! - Edit
This place is super small but very charming! The owner/hostess speaks fluent in English and was very helpful explaining the menu (keep flipping until you get to the English translation) and suggesting wine. Because the place is so small, make sure to make reservations, we did not but watched a lot of people get turned away. The food was amazing!!! Beautiful presentation and full of flavor! I made a mixed plate with crudités, tagliatelle with fall vegetables and a falafel dish. It was incredible!!!

food was good - Edit
It's an interesting idea of a restaurant inside a bookstore. Artsy and cool.
Read moreFew vegan dishes.
Their suggestion is to get the single dish which has 3 dishes of choice from the salad, Pasta or rice and baked dish menu. We had the mezze maniche with Chickpea cream and eggplant and tomatoes and it was delicious! The avocado salad and the thin bread with marinara sauce were as good.
The only problem is that reservation were required, and we didn't know it, and the place was closed in the middle of the day for summer hours. It opened at 6:30 and the kitchen opened at 7... we waited at least 45 minutes to get the food. But it was worth it.
Pros: delicious food
Cons: reservations required. summer hours: closed 4-6:30

better to make a reservation - Edit
My friend and I went there without a reservation and luckily we could still eat there but I think it's better to reservate. We took the “dolce pattata al forno“ and it was superb! But not if you're very hungry ;) then it would be better to take the menu or the spaghetti, saw those on a different table - looked delicious and were big portions

Loved this place. We had great food and were luckily able to get in without a reservation. I do wish they would ditch the dairy on their menu.

Great atmosphere, great food - Edit
This was a hard to find spot, but so worth the hunt! The food was delicious. I had the malai kofta (could have eaten an entire dish of this), a green salad, and the tortellini with ginger (can't recall the exact name). I didn't care for the tortellini, as the ginger taste was too strong, but everything else was incredible.
Read moreAlso tried the chittarra aglio, olio e pomodorini secchi. (Hopefully I spelled all that right...). For such a simple dish it was bursting with flavor and I'd get that next time.

Nice food but... - Edit
But the service...So disappointed. My husband and I choose a table but the waitress asked us for change because it was a place for three. Fell minutes later another couple arrived and took "the three place".
Read moreI asked to the waitress if I could find a vegan shop in Florence to buy food, make up, etc. She told me it doesn't exist! It's not true. Specially because the shop we visited before gave us this restaurant adresse. What is happening in Florence between the vegan community? We should support each other not the contrary!
Pros: food
Cons: service

Cute, trendy atmosphere, limited vegan options - Edit
Nice ambience and beautiful presentation but we would have preferred more vegan options at a veg restaurant. We did like that they had an option to order three things and combine them on one plate, so between my partner and I, we got to try most of the vegan options. Definitely book in advance because it’s very small and gets packed. We were turned away for dinner one night but were able to book a reservation for lunch the next day.

Highly Recommend!! - Edit
This was by far one of my favorite meals in Florence!! The food was so fresh and flavorful, and such a refreshing change from what's on offer at most restaurants here. The restaurant itself is so cute, and unique mix of a bookstore and restaurant, and feels like a cute cafe and a classy dining experience all in one. It's a must try! Get the piatti unicorn - so much bang for your buck!! Only 15 euros and you get so much food, and three options, so you get to try a little bit of everything!

I would eat here everyday! - Edit
A little hidden library-restaurant in the center of Florence. Really cool place, friendly staff and bohemian atmosphere. The food is absolutely to die for. Authentic homemade food. Amazing portions. They have an offer called "piato único" where for 15€ you can choose 3 different plates of the menu. I totally recommend it! We lunch there 2 times in the 3 days we spent in Florence. Better If you book in advance. The first day we went was totally full, but hey made us a small place in the bar.

This is a small restaurant in a book store in Florence. It is a little quirky- you MUST make reservations. However, the food is unique and superb and ranks with any vegan restaurant we've tried anywhere.

Fantastic - therefore busy - Edit
This is a combined vegetarian and vegan restaurant, but as a vegan, the staff were very helpful in identifying which dishes are vegan (essentially anything that doesn't list cheese in its description). The in-house homemade pasta is vegan.
Read moreBut onto the point, which is that the vegan food is amazingly good. It is also of local character (Florentine or Tuscan).
There is a huge range of wine sold, and also some less-well-known (but very good) beers... plus liquers and aperitifs etc.
The food is superb, but the atmosphere is also good and quite "cool" too. The "library and restaurant" thing works well.
There is a daytime menu and an evening menu, with the changeover sometime around 7pm.
If you want to eat here in the evening, you will need a reservation. While eating, a continuous string of drop-ins were seen to be turned away and the staff were all running round like headless chickens to get it all done. Still friendly and good service despite this. I didn't even have to wait very long to be served, for the food to come, etc, as can happen in some more traditionally-styled premises.
Pros: Fantastic food, Cool atmosphere, Nice staff
Cons: Tiny entrance/frontage, not effortless to find

Definitely worth finding! - Edit
Loved this place. Staff were friendly and helpful. Vegan options were very good and a welcome break from burgers/pizza/bread.
Read moreI sat at the bar early on a Tues evening and got chatting to the other diners from around the world. It has a lovely relaxed atmosphere, lots of artwork and art books, a great layout with a cute courtyard between the bar and restaurant areas - and they were playing PJ Harvey when I arrived so felt right at home! Food was served pretty quickly (we were the early diners!) and given very generous portions.
Wish I'd found it earlier in my trip (I walked right passed by accident the night before) as would be really nice to go in and enjoy some chilled time away from the bustle of central areas with a coffee and cake. Or beer.
Pros: Bar area is social, Peaceful place away from the crowds, Food was healthy, tasty, plentiful
