Vegan Hipster Hang - Edit
I really enjoyed this place and the inviting, relaxed atmosphere. It reminded me of hipster hangs in the Pacific NW, only without the pretense or “freeze” that I’m more accustomed to.
Read moreFriendly woman at the counter and a good collection of mostly-punk vinyl from what I remember. As a vinyl addict, I purposefully avoided a thorough look. I didn’t want to backpack with records weighing me down (a once-regular occurrence before I gained control over the addiction!).
Prices for food and beer were reasonable. I can’t remember the name of my burger (see photo) but I had a really hard time deciding which one to try. Too many choices! The burger was good but not “great” in my opinion.
Having said that, I only tried one burger. And as they are house made, I’m sure they are far healthier than a commercial Bocca or Impossible burger. It was perhaps a little too mushy (not firm) for what I was anticipating. It reminded me a little of a smashed falafel, which I do like a lot in that context.
BUT, I enjoyed it along with the tasty fries and Super Bock. YES, I will return and try more burgers!
Pros: Cool, relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff., Good value for money with filling portion sizes., House-made, fresh burgers taste very healthy.
Cons: No real cons. See my description for one critique

One burger was fine but I didn't like the number 5. Too much ketchup and I'd prefer more potatoes.

Nice place, average burgers - Edit
Burgers were good but that’s it, I’ve eaten tons of better ones. We tried chickpeas and seitan burgers, both were average.

Awesome place - Edit
First of all, it is dead cheap. We had the "combo" meal: a burger, potato wedges and a beer for €8,5.
Read moreReally nice "homey" brown bread on both burgers, one was seitan/shitake mushrooms, and the other soya patty and vegan cheese. Delicious, especially the sauce that came with the wedges ( a thick tomato based sauce, a bit like the "bravas" sauce you'd get in Spain... delicious).
The REAL deal happens with desserts though... We had a bola de berlim ( a kind of custard doughnut): firm and sweet, not overly greasy... perfect. The crème de la crème (pun intended) is their bolo de bolacha. I had never heard of this traditional Portuguese cake, but the vegan version at Black Mamba is incredible. An absolute go to !
They also sell vinyls and merch, a bit niche as it's super metal/post punk/post rock orientated.
Pros: Price, Amazing food, Desserts !!
Cons: Could have more choices on the vinyls/merch

My favourite vegan burguers! - Edit
Black Mamba is a must almost every time I visit Porto. As we travel pretty often, this is my favourite. I was there back in January and today we have the chance to taste that savoury burguers again!
Read moreThe menu is simple, just some entrances to choose from, and 6 burguers. Today I took the D-Beet wich is beetroot and black beans and it taste amazing. Love it!
Also, today they have «bolos de Berlin» and it was pretty good too!
Other burguers, as I can remember now are: «Burguer core», « Burguer Punk», «Burguer Doom» ... so its not strange to tell that there is also a nice record store there, with plenty of Punk and Hardcore Records, as well as some zines and stuff!
The people is so calm and nice!!
Pros: Tasty Burguers, Love the place , Love the service
Cons: could be a little bit cheaper

Chill atmosphere, amazing food - Edit
My husband and I are here for lunch. We came in around 1:30pm on a Tuesday. There were a few people that came in and out, but overall it was quiet and chill.
Read moreHe ordered the Burger Stoner with potatoes wedges combo and I had just the Burger Core. I really liked my chickpeas patty with vegan nuggets on top. Original and tasty. My husband also liked his burger and really liked that they serve wedges instead of traditional fries. We both like that the bun contains whole grains. They offer a variety of vegan desserts, too. We were tempted, but decided to save it for another time.
The service was pretty quick, the staff member we interacted with was friendly and the place was tidy.
It's not traditional Portuguese food, but it's good vegan food at a good price.
I can't remember anything that I didn't like about this place!
Pros: Unique burger offerings, Great prices, Awesome atmosphere

I smell like burgers after my visit - Edit
Ok burger for an ok price. The atmosphere is a bit clinical... just some black tables in a big white room. I like the fact that it’s a record shop too and they play the music they sell in the background. I wouldn’t recommend bringing your mom though, as the music is quite rough and alternative :). What I really didn’t like was the very present smell of burgers and the frying pan. When I came home, my hair, my clothes and my backpack and the stuff in it all smelled like burgers and fries.

Amazing food and cakes!

My girlfriend and I spent a couple of hours at Black Mamba cafe for a late lunch. She ordered the 666 burger and it was so good that she's still talking about it! The music is also great, mostly punk, hard core and rock.
Definitely recommended, would totally go again!

This place is the best thing in Porto! Well worth the journey and money.
Read moreLovely burgers and delicious cakes. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere.
Good idea having a mini shop, records (vinyl), books and zines, in the cafe. Nice place to just chill with a snack (they have tasty wraps, bechamel patty, samosas and ham & cheese pastry) and watch the world go by, but also to eat the combo meal, that have generous portions.
I would highly recommend making the effort to go to this place and to support what they do. I'm happy to find another vegan cafe!
Pros: very tasty, good value, can also buy records, friendly staff, good food (snacks to go), 100% Vegan

Could be better - Edit
I visited this space in June, 2015 for the first time - at the time it was one of the only vegan places in Porto. The burguers were good, made with natural and unprocessed ingredients. More than 3 years later I went to Black Mamba again and thought that everything looked the same - the concept could be so much better but they didn’t really seem to bother. The air smells like used frying oil and the burguers taste the same. Nothing amazing. But not too bad either. It’s one of the vegan options you can explore in Porto.

Not only is the food amazing (great burgers with unique flavors) but the atmosphere is equally great. The fact that it is also a vinyl record store with loads of fantastic underground music to explore and listen to while eating makes the Black Mamba a "must" for people interested in both vegan culture and underground art culture.
