Best vegan shmear - Edit
We just got two vegan shmears to go, the plain and the scallion. They were by far the best vegan shmears I've ever had.

BAGELSSS!! 🥯 - Edit
I had the lox everything bagel sandwich & omg I think the bagels themselves were one of the best I've had in a while.
Read moreHowever, the carrot lox was a bit disappointing. It lacked any flavor & could use some marinating.
I much preferred what my partner got! It was a sausage egg bagel sandwich & didn't even taste vegan at all! SO GOOD.
Pros: Completely Vegan, Amazing Bagels, Meat alternatives
Cons: No restroom, Small , Busy

Why vegans go out of business - Edit
Food is excellent. However the ambiance is awful. Service is painfully slow, tables are dirty, extractor fans don’t work so you end up stinking, and thrash metal is obnoxious at 10am. Overall I would not want to come back here. Night and day from their Seattle branch. And all avoidable if you had better management/staff.

Best bagel sandwiches in town - Edit
Their bacon egg and cheese is super addicting. I think it's as the title says, best vegan bagel sandwiches in Portland. I'm also a big fan of their Mac salad.

Great latkes - Edit
I really enjoyed the latkes and matzo ball soup. However, the corned beef in my sandwich was borderline burnt and bitter. Given the other positive reviews, I'll assume it was an off day.

Bagels bagels bagels - Edit
It's a big menu and super tasty food. They don't seem to toast the bagels but they're still great and the sandwiches are about as delicious as food can be.

Yummy bagel sandwiches! - Edit
I really enjoy Ben and Esther’s bagel sandwiches! Particularly, their lox bagel is to die for!
Read moreThe only thing I wish for is that they have options for their sandwich bread. I’m not a fan of rye, and even after giving the tuna melt a try, I still don’t like the taste. But if you do like marbled rye, I bet you won’t be disappointed; my husband is a big fan of their Reuben and Benny’s Brisket sandwiches!

Delicious food and everything vegan! - Edit
Got the bagel and lox. Obviously, they can't replicate the flavor of salmon but it was still very yummy. Black and white cookie was very good too!

It reminded me of when I was a kid and went to the Jewish bagel shop for breakfast. It's very nostalgic.

Vegan Jewish Deli?? - Edit
AS soon as I read this I needed to check it out. A vegan eatery that specializes in Jewish foods and offers gluten-free options. I adore bagels but haven't really had a good one since I stopped eating gluten several years ago. My favourite are the Montreal bagels (St-Viateur or Fairmount). I would buy a dozen of them and eat half of them before I got back to my flat.
Read moreAnyway, I digress.
When I first moved to my Airbnb just 4 blocks from this deli I went over to check it out. They were out of the gluten-free bagels but the staff person took my phone number and sure enough 5 or 6 days later they texted me that the GF bagels were back in stock.
Today I walked over to the deli. I took my own platter so that I could have a waste-free meal.
After talking with the same staff person that texted me, I decided on the vegan lox sandwich without the tomato.
They even gave me a discount for bringing in my own platter. They informed me that the sandwich would not be cut in half as usual since the wrapper would normally hold everything in place and since I was getting it without the wrapper it made sense to not cut it. No problem.
When my name was called and I went up. My sandwich sat there on my platter wrapped in not one, not two, but three layers of wrap.
It seems that there was some kind of communication breakdown or a complete misunderstanding by the staff putting the meal together for me. It looks like I will have to be clearer and to ensure that the staff making the food are aware of my desire to have a waste-free meal.
Anyway, the bagel itself was good. A little messy but that is one of the things I like about handheld food - so much goodness that it spills out. The flavour of the lox was really good and the cream cheese was excellent - nice and thick.
Pros: Great flavour and texture, Great service of the front end staff person
Cons: Did not provide my meal without wrapping -as asked

Really nice to have classic delish deli fare that is all vegan. Bagels are quite well loaded and tasty. A bit on the pricy side, but still very much worthwhile

LOVE LOVE LOVE - Edit
Oh my goodness this deli was such a gem! Took a little detour on my way home from PDX and I'm so glad that I did! I ordered the lox bagel sandwich and it was absolutely delicious. The cream cheese was phenomenal, I loved the smokiness of the vegan lox, and the addition of dill and capers were marvelous. Granted, I never tried real lox or a real lox bagel and can't compare to the vegan version, but regardless it was amazing. I honestly wish I had ordered two and taken one for the road it was that good. If I am ever in Portland again and in the area I will definitely stop by and snag all the pastries and a few bagels.

So Fun - Edit
So much fun to be able to go to a vegan deli. We ordered a plain bagel with veggie cream cheese (my sister really enjoyed it), the Benny’s Brisket (they were out of steak so they subbed corned beef) but my mom really enjoyed it. I got the Rueben which was good but could have used more toppings (sauce, sauerkraut cheese) to even out all the meat. Still very good!

Good stuff - obviously not a health food place - Edit
Good selection of bagels, spreads, sandwiches and sides (bunch of different salads: potato, macaroni, egg etc - sold by weight). Also cakes and other sweets, although they were out at the end of the day. Had the cheesesteak, tasty. A bit on the pricey side with ca. $ 14 for a sandwich, but that might be par for the course in the area.
