Worth the drive - Edit
Great food and great service. We arrived quite late and had wondered whether it was worth driving in the rain and dark. It certainly was. We were disappointed that the meatloaf was sold out, however we enjoyed the crab cake sandwich, the spaghetti squash casserole and the pulled bbq sandwich which was made with mushrooms. The cheese board was a great starter - 3 different types of vegan cheese with pickles and crackers - looked amazing and all the cheeses were delicious. We enjoyed the n'ice cream dessert but would have loved to have an option of pie or cake which the menu currently does not have. The workers there were welcoming and kind.

Out of bounds! - Edit
All vegan/plant based restaurant with delicious food and fabulous staff! They had specials along with their regular menu and the food was off the charts delicious! We had the special appetizer which was burrata with a pesto center. It was far and away the best vegan dish I have had and I've been vegan for 11 years! It was served with little crostinis, cucumbers, apple slices and drizzled with a balsamic glaze. Unbelievably delectable! We also had the entree special of 'crab' cakes over mashed potatoes with a side of avocado and corn salsa like thing was so refreshing! And my husband had the Hemp Burger which was also delicious! I wish we lived closer to Basecamp as we'd be back often! A must go to if even remotely close to this restaurant! And, the staff was so warm and friendly! It just felt like home!

Fantastic meal - Edit
All plant based restaurant. Nice wine and cocktail menu. They make they're own cheeses and their special tonight was 'Italian surprise' a riff on a burrata stuffed with a creamy pesto. I had the mile high meatloaf. Meatloaf is a mix of impossible and smoke lentils. And wife had a hot cauliflower salad.

Great hosts - Edit
My wife and I were traveling in southwest Colorado and very much wanted to eat at Basecamp. Unfortunately, when we arrived there we were told by a receptionist at the facility in which it was located that it would not be open to the public the only times we could visit due to an 'owners' event. We chanced on knocking on the door. After a few moments a woman open the door (half of the couple that own/operate the facility). After explaining our plight and desire to have eaten there, we were told that they have no 'hot food' ready because they were making preparations for that evenings event. She did, however, find a vegan salami and some cheeses for us and offered some items from their market. She refused to take any payment for these items.
Read moreThe food was delicious and made our day. We were disappointed that we would not be able to enjoy a meal and the restaurant and plan to visit again if we find ourselves in that part of the state. Thank you so much for helping out two wandering vegans.

We started with a lentil and kale soup which was fantastic and followed that with a meatloaf dish. That was the best I've ever tasted.

Another great experience at Basecamp. Ila was our waitress and was very personable and helpful. We had broccolini, chili, cornbread, and the chop salad. Everything was great. My hubs said it was the best cornbread he’s ever had. That’s saying allot, he’s southern. Basecamp is at the top of my list of favorite places to visit in Durango. #Veganuary

The entire dining experience here was incredible. When I sat down the owner came over and told us all about the restaurant and it’s dishes. All the recipes were hand crafted by him. You just can’t beat this restaurant.

Amazing food! - Edit
We stumbled on this place while in Durango and it is incredible. First, it's a beautiful location overlooking the mountains. Second, their food was spectacular. We had the buffalo cauliflower and it was so good I had to follow it up with the buffalo salad, which was a great portion so was my entree. I snatched some of my wife's sweet potato fries and OH MY STARS they are amazing. Seriously they could be dessert. Finally, we talked with the owners plenty and they are truly incredible people. Super friendly, very warm, and so open to talking about thier food, menu, plans, ethos, etc. A truly great Gem.

FANTASTIC VEGAN FOOD - Edit
Loved eating at Basecamp! The owners are super considerate and have done extensive research on the sourcing of all their (largely) local, vegan produce. Everything is truly plant based, there was no seitan in sight for us. We had the buffalo cauliflower app, buffalo cauliflower salad (cause it was soooo good), and the crab cake sandwich. They even have an adorable all-vegan market where you can purchase some goodies for the road. Can wait to go back!

Delicious - Edit
I went while visiting the Ouray/Durango area and it's worth the visit! I had the oyster mushroom pulled "pork" sandwich, it was delicious! I would eat that sandwich everyday if I could. You should check it out. One thing that wasn't great was the amount of food, I wish that I got a bit more fries because it wasn't too filling.

Food slaps - Edit
This place has some phenomenal food. The restaurant is new so the menu is still fairly small but the pulled pork sandwich is extremely flavorful and the mushrooms bring a really good texture. The chef came out to talk to us about his cooking style and inspiration. Will be returning next time I am in the area.

Fantastic! - Edit
My wife and I check HappyCow reviews whenever we are traveling and we have had some really great meals. We do spend quite a bit of time around Durango, Colorado in the summer and sometimes for ski trips to Purgatory like this week. It was a great time to check out Basecamp at Tamarron and it was so, so good! If you are in the Durango area you definitely should make sure you get to Basecamp at the Tamarron Lodge.

My New Go To! - Edit
My wife and I have been to Basecamp twice now and have officially pronounced ourself regulars. This is our new spot for amazing plant-based foods. So far we have tried the cauliflower bites, plant-based charcuterie, pulled BBQ sandwich, ‘crab cake’ sandwich and the seared scallops (king trumpet mushrooms). Everything was truly amazing. Rich and delicious and tasty enough to flip a non-vegan!

Wonderful new vegan spot - Edit
I went twice in three days while visiting Durango! That should tell you something. The first time, a friend and I split an Impossible burger with fries, and the entrée salad, which was chock-full of goodness - veggies, beans, pepperoncini, vegan feta, etc.
Read moreThe second time I got the South Carolina BBQ-style pulled “pork“ (oyster mushrooms) sandwich. It was a delicious messy delicacy, as it should be, with mustardy BBQ sauce and coleslaw and a side of sweet potato waffle fries. Perfection.
They have a huge wine, beer, and mixed drink menu, and even some hard kombucha and the like.
The owners are a sweet vegan couple, Brook & Terri, and this is clearly a labor of love for them. It wasn’t very busy when we were there so we got to talk with them a lot. They are still tweaking their menu so it may be different when you go, but you can’t go wrong. I look forward to trying the cheese platter, their hearts of palm-based seafood dishes, and whatever else they cook up in the future!
They also have a great little shop there full of vegan goods and wine, I discovered some new favorite jerky and snacks!
It’s right off the highway north of Durango, close to the golf course, Purgatory ski resort, the Durango Hot Springs, and multiple rock climbing areas.
Pros: 100% vegan, Super friendly staff, Delicious, creative dishes
