Good options! Vegan fondue!!! - Edit
Barry’s has a super cozy atmosphere with twinkling stars and warm lighting which was really nice. The staff were super friendly and kind as well! I got a tofu skewer which was just okay. It had hummus as a base and then the skewer itself had only 3 pieces of tofu and a few vegetables. It was lacking some seasoning and just didn’t feel like a complete meal. Kind of pricey for the amount of food given. I totally regret not getting the vegan fondue and would come back sometime to try it if I were back in Grindelwald as the staff and atmosphere were great😊

Vegan fondue! - Edit
Had the most amazing vegan cheese fondue served with bread and potatoes while sitting under a snow covered mountain. Was so happy to get to experience eating buckets of cheese while in Switzerland!

Amazing vegan fondue and special dessert - Edit
The vegan fondue was amazing! We also had a veggie burger without cheese and it was good. There were other vegan options like red curry and tofu skewers with hummus. We went for my birthday (I wrote this in the comments of my reservation) and they didn’t have a vegan dessert but they managed to find/make one in 20 mins to make a special birthday for me😄highly recommend!!!

It stood out as a restaurant in Grindelwald that made an effort for vegans. Creative menu and very good service.

Quorn stroganoff - Edit
After a fun trip up the mountain stopped at Barry’s for a late lunch. The stroganoff was yummy. Mashed potatoes are always a nice find!!

Amazing! - Edit
Barry's has a special menu with three unique vegan options. We had the potato gratin (made with oat milk) served with a large helping of tofu drizzled with pesto, tomatoes and baked basil leaves. It was the best vegan meal I've had in a long time - absolutely delicious. I even considered ordering a second!😄 My son (aged 7) loved it too. No vegan options on the desert menu, but the gelato place next door has some vegan options, including a very yummy watermelon sorbet.

Excellent vegan options - Edit
Three original vegan mains. I had ristorante (oat milk) with tofu and basil. Really well cooked. In addition there is a bean and stroganoff vegan options. Quite pricy but it is Switzerland. Best meal on via alpina to date

Vegan options available - Edit
There are three vegan options on the menu and the two we tried were fine.

They also serve Fondue so it might smell like cheese there. The waiter was not very friendly but the service was over all okay.

Three marked vegan main dishes now. Expensive even for Switzerland - Edit
Their vegan section now lists baked pumpkin, roulade and quorn stroganoff. Check what the double leaf symbol means, probably only vegetarian, so not sure about starters. Really expensive with CHF 38 for the quorn stroganoff.

Temper your expectations… - Edit
I mostly am posting this to temper expectations of vegans visiting Grindelwald, as Barry’s has been regarded to be the best spot to get a vegan meal. There are, apparently, only two vegan options on the menu - a veggie burger if you remove the mozzarella and pine nut basil sauce, and a tomato pasta with vegan meatballs - and I ordered the burger.
Read moreFirst, they brought me a cheeseburger instead of a veggie burger without the cheese and sauce. The upside is they gave me a complimentary beer for the mistake.
When the veggie burger finally arrived, it was super disappointing. It was a gummy store bought patty - their menu description makes it sound homemade - with tomato and lettuce. That’s it. It was pretty dang expensive for a burger I could buy at the grocery store and cook better at home.
The fries were good and the beer was good. I’d come back for the ambiance (cozy tavern) and to try the pasta, because other options in Grindelwald are SLIM. That’s the only reason.

No real vegan options just vegetarian! - Edit
This place annoys me! Things are marked vegan that aren’t and you have to constantly check with the waiter what is and isn’t vegan.

Nice atmosphere but food just ok - Edit
The restaurant is nice and service was good. The vegan burger was more a dry sandwich than a burger but the other vegan option (tofu with cheackpeas) was better.

The food wasn’t amazing but it was a nice change from most of the vegan food available in Grindelwald. Ask for the vegan menu.

Best option for the area - Edit
So happy to find vegan options, as lunch was at a different restaurant, managing to serve me a salad of tomatoes and cucumber slices. It took me back to being a vegan in 2002. We had the address, but it seems like there are two restaurants at the same location, so it was a bit confusing, but in the end we found out where to get food. Phew!

This place was so good! - Edit
I came here in May 2019 and asked for the vegan menu because the only other review here said they had one. They didn’t have one when I visited, but they had many options and were very accommodating. They even had a salad bar and an all-you-can-eat stir fry bar where you can choose from rice, rice noodles, many different veggies, legumes and tofu. Then you add some sauces/oils, and the kitchen fries it up for you and it’s brought back to your table. This place was a godsend to me after days traveling through small towns in the alps. I was so hungry for something hot and full of veggies. The service was also super nice and the restaurant is beautiful. I highly recommend it! Just tell them you’d like them to make sure the grill is cleaned before your dish is fried.

Great vegan options - Edit
I ate dinner here twice while I was in Grindelwald, and both times I had delicious food. I asked the server if they had vegan options, and he brought a fully vegan menu that they had which included 3 vegan main meals. He also added that a tofu appetizer dish on the regular menu was vegan, so I tried that as well. Everything was delicious, I especially loved the potato lentil stew dish that was served with a heaping portion of avocado with a lime dressing. The only negatives I would say is that you have to ask the server for the vegan menu, as vegan options aren’t clearly stated on the regular menu (only vegetarian ones). Also, the vegan menu is only available in german, but the waiter could translate for you.
